The performance is worse than I expected. I can’t get 60 fps, not even on Low! And I reached 24fps on Ultra.
amd 3700x, gtx 1080 with factory oc.
On the other hand there isn’t a lot of difference between quality levels:
Low
vs
Ultra
But the game is more broken than I thought. The invert mouse option from the menu don’t work! How they missed that!
The “low” option might be broken too?
That looks much, much better than most games with that setting.
I don’t think so because my framerate went from 30fps, to 35, to 40, to 50fps when I lowered the quality until reaching Low.
Something is wrong here…
edit: uninstalled drivers, restarted, installed again, the same:
gpu is pegged at 100% so it isn’t that.
Well, I tweaked the settings a bit more and that stutter went away so now I can enjoy it fully. And HOLY SHIT is it something else.
I finally got to walk around the city and take in the sights. What I didn’t appreciate until seeing it in action is how CDPR has put all of their considerable artistry into creating a dense, urban environment that is every bit as spectacular as the sprawling, natural environments in The Witcher 3. It’s a neat contrast. And they still do incredible character and costume design plus all that detailed world building. I wasn’t expecting it to feel so much like TW3 but it’s largely a familiar interface.
One favorite detail; finding a homeless kid playing in VR goggles.

Holy moly, CD Projekt’s first non-Witcher release is a monster!
Managed to get a cool 3 hours of semi sleep, nice. Going back in.

Watched my kid play through the first 90 minutes tonight on the Xbox Series X. It’s beautiful there; can’t imagine how the enhanced version is going to look.
Can’t wait to play it after work tomorrow.

I started clearing those NCPD mini side missions that have you clear a hostile area and they’re really fun. Combat is pretty great and quite tactical on highest difficulty. Enemy netrunners are not to be toyed with. Looking forward to unlocking some cool perks.
Attaboy, Paul. You do us proud.

Invert options are working fine for me, both mouse and controller.

Wow, congrats to Valve. This is huge for them. That 30% cut is gonna go far. They truly won the day.
Not sure I can muster enough suspension of disbelief for this particular universe:

HAHAHAHA that’s bloody hilarious! I thought it was a Dystopian world not an Utopian one!
Orks, elves and androids are no problem for me, but how can you have a universe in which Keanu Reeves and Run The Jewels exist be so obviously on an alternate timeline?
Uh, thanks for replying, at least I know it’s something wrong with my game. Maybe I will delete all the config files and let it recreate them.
About performance, several of the people I read saying they have problems, they happen to have the same cpu as me, amd 3700x. Maybe they didn’t optimize enough for that one…
The game looks good without RT, but it looks…like a game. It has that fake uniform lightning that games with nonprebaked lightning have.
With RT it looks much more lifelike and realistic. But with my 2700X CPU, it is impossible to get stable 60fps.
I am annoyed by this very much, almost to a point of wanting to wait for an upgrade.
Open these shots in full and switch between the tabs…big difference.

Ok, it isn’t that. Tom’s Hardware has updated benchmarks, with performance very similar to mine. And he has a intel cpu:
Because I plan to eventually buy a 3080, I compared it before to my gtx 1080, so I know it offers around twice the performance (+100%). Here it’s more than that, near +125%?
I suspect what is happening is simply that Nvidia has reached the point where they optimize well the drivers for the last two generations of gpu, mine is the third-last generation so at this point it’s starting to get the short stick.

wow I need to vacate this thread right now until I get a new rig with 3080 and 5900X. It is basically unplayable with my current rig (~30 fps at 1080p).
