If anyone is struggling in melee I highly suggest replacing your hacking module with a Sandevistan.15 seconds of 50% time slow feels almost like forever and you will rarely come across a “pull” that you can’t wipe out in those 15 seconds. For some of the really large fights you might need to duck behind some cover and wait on the 30 second cooldown to do it again. But you are pretty darn close to invincible during those windows.

I am playing on very hard and it’s pretty easy, though I am fragile. I drop very quickly if I just wander into a fight out of cover. The build is almost as broken as a tech sniper in terms of just wandering into a location and dropping every one dead undetected. Especially when you get the legendary ping, then you can quick hack through walls.

Loving the game so far, looks amazing on ultra wide with RT on a 2080, though performance is all over the place. I was expecting a lot more bugs, but other than 1 crash and one glitch where I stuck in the world geometry I haven’t had any serious bugs. Visual glitches galore of course, but nothing too detracting.

Except for a poignant scene where a character stuck a gun 6 inches into his skull. Apparently he forget to put away his gun while removing a biochip from his head. For a second there I thought his solution was to commit suicide, which was jarring to say the least.

Well, like I said… I feel like it’s the best GTA ever.

But it definitely has the GTA vibe, in that I’m walking around and stealing cars, killing rando criminals, and also completing missions. I recognize that on some level, you could say that any game is like any other game… like, you could say “Witcher 3 is like GTA with horses”, but I feel like this is much more similar to GTA than that.

Why do we have to decide if its GTA or not? It’s NOT GTA, it’s Cyberpunk.

AC Valhalla isn’t Red Dead Redemption 2 just because you can go fishing, hunt and ride a horse.

I think the comparison is more along the lines of explaining the game to some person who may or may not be interested in it.

I feel like if someone enjoyed GTA, then they would enjoy Cyberpunk 2077.

I think it’s way closer to a Deus Ex than to GTA. The core actions you do (stealthing around, hacking, searching an entry, takedowns, FP shooting, leveling up your character) are pure Deus Ex.
If you take Deus Ex as reference, you explain the game saying ‘Deus Ex but bigger’. With GTA you have to say ‘GTA but with most core gameplay reinvented and without a lot of emphasis on running away from cops nor vehicles and better storytelling’.

Not if they’re looking for GTA’s wacky shenanigans. Cyberpunk’s tone is definite not the same and the way cops currently spawn and are so dang easy to dodge, there’s no cops & robbers style mayhem.

To be honest, I think GTA5 already decreased a bit the focus of the series in the cops & robbers chases, in comparison with the previous titles.

This is true, but I guess I was never into just randomly murdering cops, even in GTA. Beyond doing it once or twice for fun, it wasn’t really a focal point for me.

That being said, I also did it in Cyberpunk for fun, just to see what would happen. The cops just magically spawning behind you is kind of dumb.

So, instead I just stole their cruiser and left.

Both, I’m sure. My statement wasn’t meant to exclude other complaints. Though to be fair, the vast majority of performance/bug issues are for owners of current-gen consoles. That doesn’t excuse the problems, but the degree to which such complaints are relevant to the end user depends entirely on what platform they are using (and I suppose its configuration).

But I was referring specifically to those folks complaining that the game is not something it was not intended to be.

So, at some point, you get the option to compete in some races. (I’m assuming that’s vague enough to not be a spoiler)

The thing is… in these races, you get a Forza style line on the road telling you where to go.

They should use this for ALL the GPS stuff in the game, because it’s infinitely better than the GPS on the map which doesn’t tell you when to turn. Half the time when I’m cruising at high speed, I end up missing turns and having to double back, because you can’t just watch the GPS while driving.

So, as for police not chasing you…

I reason it’s like this. The game’s lore says that Night City has murders left and right every day. There’s even a segment where someone says murders “dropped” to only about 8,000 the previous year. The NCPD is simply overwhelmed, and they only care if you’re an active threat.

Cops chase me all the time. About once per session I piss them off somehow. Usually when a gun fight spills out in the wilds. It’s pretty easy to hide until the wanted meter dies down. Though the police drone can be a PITA, it can’t open doors.

A bit less than 18 hours in: title drop.

I’m hoping someone can help me figure out what’s wrong.

I’m playing on PC and for small things on the screen when I move the controller cursor right on top of it, it won’t pick up. I have to keep moving it all around the item until I get the highlighted to grab it. Sometimes it’s way off from the item.

Others have complained about this as well. Seems to be working as intended, sadly.

You’ve got to be kidding. It’s so bad I may have to dump my controller and go mouse/keyboard for this. I don’t even pick stuff up half the time now. Ridiculous.

At around 50 hours I got a followup quest to my CORPO background.

Sadly, it was very brief.

So, just wondering, I’m like 30-40 hours in and genitalia customization hasn’t really mattered at all. Not a single sighting.

Was it much ado about nothing?
