Don’t forget the holier-than-thou intellectuals criticizing them no matter what they do!

It’s not the first time the poor games journalists missed the mainstream consensus. They’re on an island. I empathize even though I’m one of those critics.

But that’s no surprise. What’s more fascinating to me is the expectations that every individual put into this game as development went on. Jerry Holkins referenced his freaking crazy parents that thought D&D was Satan’s work, so I can’t even begin to unpack his emotional attachment to this universe. Other people think they’re getting a GTA game (which is why I don’t think the stodgy insistence about that is helping) and then Razgon wanted Skyrim for some reason.

I don’t want to sound like a smartass, but I came into this game with an open mind, set my expectations based on early reviews, and I’m having a really good time. I don’t think this will end up as an all-time favorite, and maybe not even my game of the year. But to me the backlash seems more like a problem for each individual than with the game itself.

Unless you’re a poor soul on a second-to-last-gen console. That sounds pretty terrible.

There is a website called “Gamespew”?

Is that as in, ‘games pew [pew]’ or ‘game spew’? I hope it’s the former.

I wish he’d go into it more. I played a lot of PnP Cyberpunk. The original, 2020, and even the terrible Fuzion V3. The only thing I think this game gets completely wrong is the way you can just pack yourself full to the brim with cyberware and there’s no consequence. In the tabletop game, installing cyberware had a chance of blowing your character out and making them go nuts.

As far as the refund situation goes, yeah, CDPR stepped in that one by launching with such bad PS4/Xbox One versions.

I think it’s interesting that in contrast with The Witcher 3, we’ve not heard a peep about “14 free DLCs coming!”

Even with the bugs I’d still give it a glowing recommendation on a gaming PC. Not a 10/10 certainly, but on a real 1-10 scale it’s a solid 8.

I’m happy to pay for solid story DLCs. No horde modes, please.

I think the comment section of the Gamespot review is still visible, go check it out to see what I mean. And if I recall, one of the devs mentioned death threats on Twitter.

And yes, gamers ran with it and inflated it to the point where they were planning to play out their sexual fantasies and other insane ideas. The game itself seems ok, I can see why many would like it.

People really can expect video games to carry a lot of weight in their lives. Apparently some guy swirled up in the No Man’s Sky hype commented that this was going to be “the last game I ever need to play” or something like that.

It’s a game with a or the city is a big giant Red District right? I have no issues with adult stuff in adult games. I just didn’t think the CDRP crowd was one of our most toxic groups, but I have seen them shutdown even basic conversation about these games and the dev.

I don’t know whyany developer would put a Red District atmosphere and not expect people to pursue fantasies. Isn’t that the point of those districts? I’m also hoping they developed other things too of course and not every approach to specific characters is as sexual objects.

Yes, it’s a dystopia. Despite the nudity in the character generator I haven’t seen anyone actually naked, although quite a few are extremely scantily clad. I did get one sex scene which also wasn’t graphic.

I also got a giant purple dildo melee weapon. Oddly this isn’t the first game to have one of those.

Why what other colors did the other ones have ;-)?

It was also purple!

Really should be epic quality to pump up the purplosity.

You are forgetting one of the first missions. Tub full of nakedness, and then you carry nakedness out to balcony. It’s right in your face. The first 30 mins of the game is full of nakedness between that mission and the character creator. You are right not a bit since then though. Except for that holograph dancer when you do the first BD, I think she was nude? Ok, but since than no nudes, just lot’s of pasties and see through shirts.

There’s more nudity later.

I must have missed that mission, pretty sure I’d remember a naked tub full of nakedness. Maybe it was in a different prologue, I’m playing a streetkid.

Holo dancer (Skye, anyway, the girl) was not naked. She came dang close though.

LOL, All dildos should be rated with a Ragdoll Force. This one is 400. That is top of the line folks!

Hmm. I did this mission with 2 origins (street kid and nomad) right outta the gate. Maybe it was a side gig?

Surely everyone does that mission? It’s the first one in the city, it teaches you how combat works, and it was featured in a gameplay demo a couple years ago.

As seen in this before and after of the Trauma Team

Boy, controlling this with a controller is hard for me. Aiming is horrible, and driving the car is insane. Is there any way to change the controller sensitivity for the steering wheel?

It’s the first mission after both the Corporate and Nomad prologues. It’s not there after the montage for street kid?

it is :)
