I’ve never heard of anything like it. The significance shouldn’t be minimized - it’s a huge deal, and represents a massive loss in revenue for CDPR. Remember, we’re still pre-Christmas and every weekend is important. Unless they have a huge patch sitting in certification now waiting for Sony approval, they are going to miss the weekend before Christmas.

It’s also really bad that Sony was forced to do this in the first place. Pissing them off is not good.

I’d be incredibly interested to know what % of a heavily marketed AAA game’s digital sales at full retail price occur in the first week. I could easily picture it being 70%+, but maybe I’m dead wrong.

I’m only referring to games where market awareness is so high that a lack of it isn’t creating any significant barrier to revenue.

Edit: my point being that I suspect a majority of the people who were going to buy Cyberpunk for full price have probably done so already. But if this is incorrect I’d love someone with better industry knowledge to enlighten me.

Have flipped through this thread but haven’t seen this bug raised. Got Johnny repeating a single line non-stop everywhere, tried: save/load, new coversation with anyone, new conversation with johnny, turn on/off subtitles (line still gets said, just not subtitled). Any solutions, besides rolling back to last manual save?

As much as I am having fun with the game, it is such a goat rope, Charlie Foxtrot, hot mess, take your pick. Some of it is reaction to the over the top hype train that rolled on for a long time, true, but most of it is legit backlash for some very real tech issues, and equally legit if far more subjective creative issues. And stuff like the ludicrous ineptitude in handling clothes, appearance, consistency of same, and all of that–design issues, tech problems, both? Oy vey.

I’m really wondering at this point if CDProjekt is going to survive this as a company. All of their eggs are kind of in this one basket. I know GOG was struggling a while back as well. Even if the parent company weathers this, it could still be bad news for GOG’s future.

Is CDPR public? If not they might be dead, investors will just put money into another venture. If public who knows, might weather it, might be a selloff.

Either way, rushed to deliver before Christmas and then it gets pulled from a major platform? Heads gonna roll.

They should be fine. I think I read they paid for production costs on preorders alone, and as mentioned 60% of that was PC. Not everyone will refund.

They’ll take a big hit in profit margins but I’m pretty sure they’ve been in more dire straits before.

CDPR is a publicly traded company. Their stock took about a 30% hit from this release. It has slowly rebounded a bit.

They’ve already recouped marketing and development costs, they will survive this as a company but their next release won’t be near as anticipated. Short term gains over long term every time in publicly traded companies.

Also, Sony is forcing CDPR to do what they should’ve done in the first place, which is to delay the game for last-last-gen consoles! It just cost them some processing fees and a shitload of goodwill.
