A hearty Taco Bell lunch is an analogue to hacking then too.

Well put.

Jumping in here. Do you guys think CDPR can fix all the game’s issues on every platform? Are there crippling performance issues that are maybe unfixable? (At least without making the game look like total shit.)

I don’t see any reason why they couldn’t make it run and look similar to any other last-gen open-world game like GTA5 on XboneS/PS4. Whether that looks like total shit is up to you. It’ll certainly never look like it’s running on a high-end gaming PC there, but it should be a huge improvement.

I didn’t intend doing all the gigs, but I did a few yesterday, today I did a few more to feed Clippy, and I just noticed I only have 9 or 10 remaining. I guess I can should go for 100% now.

The gigs are samey, but I can clear them so quickly, and they make me feel like God reaching down from the clouds to squish heads between my thumb and forefinger, that I rather enjoy them. I mean, I can clear an entire building in like 30 seconds from outside the front door.

That would require a total rework of the entire city, to alleviate the load on the streaming tech. Night City is twice as big as Los Santos, more dense and much more detailed.
I don’t think it’s really fixable in the older consoles, it seems a game where the core tech, the level design, the art assets etc has been done from the ground up for beefier hardware. If you try to scale back the graphics until the framerate is near 30 fps, well it can be done, but then it will look like worse than other games that were designed for that target natively.

It seems to me they miscalculated. On one hand they were too ambitious with their tech, and in the other it seems they trusted too much on being able to somehow optimize the game in last gen console at some point in the late stage of development.

The “secret ending” mission is ridiculous.

It’s fixable the same as any other game, you reduce the view distance, LOD, object density, etc. You might think that looks worse, though.

One of the few RPGs where in 80 hours I haven’t used fast travel yet.

Because, well

They kind of did that already, doesn’t it? the game doesn’t look pretty on base consoles…

I don’t use cars a lot, if possible, because I like to walk in first person and look around and above me and be like a naive tourist visiting the big city.

They did, but it’s implemented really poorly. Textures don’t load at all.

The city is too big to walk everywhere. I mix it up though, with bikes as well.

Seems like their streaming tech is geared towards SSDs and faster hardware, so the console HDD and tablet 2010 CPUs have a difficult time with it.

Shame they didn’t make the hard decision and cancel or at least postpone lastgen.

The vehicles look great. Driving, eh, not so much.

Still vastly better than any WatchDogs game (and I liked driving in WD1). But Mafia 2 this ain’t, no.

There is that ‘slow hard drive’ mode, so they must being doing something different on non-SSDs.

Heh, I suck in all of them, so I find it hard to compare. At least the Porsche (and it even has the Porsche name, which is interesting) handles like a 1980s 911, with its tail out all the time.

Driving gets a lot better when you get better vehicles. Overall, though, I prefer motorcycles in the city.

I assume the folks constantly complaining about the driving are playing on PC with kb+m? I’m being serious here, what previous game has actually been good at cars/motorbikes with that setup? My pc gaming is long past, but when I did try it, it was an amazingly terrible way to play. I’m finding this just great in the XSX with that controller. Each car handles differently, some more slippery, some more bouncy, etc.
