Obviously nothing compares to a gamepad, but steering with mouse control would work OK. Throttle would still be digital but steering would work.

Even the gas pedal could have more than one state with keyboard control - W for cruise and Shift W for flat out would pretty much do it. Plus some key for kerb crawling if you like. Walk/Jog/Sprint.

Boy wouldn’t that take the cake.
I still think they can fix the game for PC though. And by fix it I don’t mean make it more meaningful for people who don’t find it meaningful, just, you know, get rid of that horrific saved game bug, glitches so those who do can enjoy it more.
I have no confidence in them putting in the resources to fix the old gen stuff in any expedited manner. And by fixing it, I mean teh game they promised, not spitting out something that would make Everquest look like a tech marvel, today.

I definitely recommend motorcycles. Picked up a free high quality car found in a crate in tunnels out in the Badlands and immediately ended up getting it wedged between two steel guardrails. Couldn’t move forward or back, and couldn’t get out. Had to go to a previous save, thankfully just right before I picked up the car.
It seems strange that the next gen consoles are struggling with bugs so much. They are literally high-end PCs, and they’re 90% identical to my Ryzen box. They shouldnt have needed to modify the code that much.

From what I’ve heard, the PS4 Pro/PS5 has real problems with crashing, not so much a performance issue. That’s just bugs. I imagine there are a lot of similarities between Xbone/XS and Windows, but Playstation is a different beast.

Yeah, I’m also having a hard time understanding the folks complaining about driving… some cars are clunky, but a bunch of them are fun to drive… and frankly, like every GTA, i prefer the bikes.
I think the bikes in this ride better than any GTA game…in GTA, they’re too twitchy. I actually enjoy riding them here.

Plus, I’ve gotten some pretty good air on a bike while going offroad in the junkyard area.
And 15 hrs in and I am enjoying this quite a lot. Story missions so far have been great. I am thinking I am near the end of act 1, going by the events that just took place.
With my super fast response/repeat keyboard (which is too fast, really, always types double letters) steering is super twitchy. I do have a gamepad hooked up but use cars very infrequently, so forget to grab it. Like the bikes for sure, they are fun. My problem with cars is usually going too fast (that throttle again) and not being able to turn in time. The minimap doesn’t help. OTOH, when I do get the pacing down, it’s pretty cool.

A gamepad makes car control much better than with keyboard.
The best bike in the game only costs 22k. It’s the one from Akira. Recommended.

I am loving the glitch videos that edit it into the trailer music/voiceovers. One was posted here a couple of days ago, but this one is just as good:

I’m about 10 hours in and the only issues I’ve run into on the Xbox Series X are one T-pose (in the bar, it think everyone sees that), my character losing her hair if I look in the mirror while she’s wearing a hat, and one bad guy kind of half-floating in mid-air in an elevator after I killed him.
On the driving, to me the cars actually handle better than GTA, but the GPS map needs to be zoomed out 2 to 3x as far so you can actually tell when a turn is coming up.
I will add there are other broken stuff like the tech rifles which can pierce walls, it’s just that hacking is even more egregious. Also, I’m doing a generalist build, maybe doing a focused build on other stuff (say, melee) also results in melee being broken.
I think it would be better if the route or just the turns were projected onto your vision so you don’t need to look at the mini map.
Another tiny little interface niggle is that the description of the thing you’re picking up is in the bottom right in bright glowing text, but the actual number of them is in the centre of the screen and in a dull colour, so when you’re in the “hitting X” loot bonanza cycle it’s easy to miss how much cash you’re actually picking up say.
Shop prices have to be reviewed. Why a legendary smart shotgun that does a mediocre 366 dps costs 326K???
Crafting upgrades, cost of components have to be reviewed. Why 2 more armor points (from 62 to 64) cost so much?
