Several of the late game quests you get, like the corpo exclusive War Pigs, the appearance of a grenade-Clown dude or Lizzy Wizzy’s are underwhelming. And the Voodoo boys quest, your collaboration with them was briefer than I thought, and it’s so transparent the decisions barely matter.
Game is working towards giving me a bitter aftertaste than I had until now.

Chippin’in quest was also somewhat disappointing, in that it could have been fun to fully play it, but instead you only have a cut montage. You cowards!

A thought I have been simmering for a while is that the game’s story fails at a particular point. I remember many years before, CDPR commented on how the big challenge of the game was to reach the same level of emotional and cinematic beats like TW3 in a game with no predetermined character, unlike TW3. But imo, it falls back from time to time into being the story of a predetermined character, about Johnny Silverhand (and his ex Alt, and his old pal Rogue and his old enemy Smasher, etc), and less about V and her friends and enemies. In a way, I think they have ‘cheated’ because V’s story is 50% not about her

Turin, for this crime, I condem you to read SnowCrash again.

Yeah, that about nails it. I’d rather they commit to one or the other, not a half-assed attempt to do both.

You should have been able to play through the “adventures of V and Jackie” in the prologue for a good 20 hours or so.

Jackie is love. We need a DLC that is only jackie and these 20 hours.

That wasn’t the game they set out to make, sadly. I agree with you, it would have been epic. Maybe a hub-based approach where the first chunk of the game is you and Jackie carving out your place in a limited area of the city, with additional “acts” of the game expanding your reach as your cred grows, or something. But the goal was clearly to tell a story, not let you make your own stories. And of course, for many people, they did not execute that very well at all.

I just made 50 hours in. I am lapping this shit up. The city, the life, the combat, the stealth and hackery. It’s so so good. Sure it’s not written quite to Bloody Baron levels. Fuck it. It’s cyberpunk as hell. It lets me live in that world in a way that I choose. It’s 50 bucks well spent.

I’m finding that I suck at hacking or stealthing or anything else requiring patience. Usually I can handle this type of thing, but in this game I just end up failing and killing mooks.

That’s why I invested heavily in the blades skills. Cut those goons ti ribbons.

Hacking, and the stealth that goes with it, is something I’m trying to learn on my second character, as my first is a gun slinger. Playing on hard, I’ve found I usually have to be patient and map out where everyone is, because my deaths are either from long-range sniper shots to the head, one or two shotting me, or from gangoons who sneak up around behind me. But if i get in a good position, and patiently cast spells, er, hacks, I can make it happen. Mind you, only level 17 or 18 so don’t have all of the tricks, either.

Recommend you guys upgrade your cyberdecks, as that does stuff like speeds to the time it takes for hacks to take effect, which makes them much more viable for using in the middle of combat.

First game I’ve heard of having this warning in the Xbox store.

The Witcher setting and characters were created by Andrzej Sapkowski not CDPR. So they were actually even more restricted by “someone else’s creative material” than they were with Cyberpunk 2077.

I should say, limited by the quality of the other material, I suppose! The Witcher books are better than the Cyberpunk RPG material, it would appear.

That’s all major NPC from the 2020 core book, full on fanservice for the RPG fans and it is AWESOME.

I would just like to chime in to say that whenever someone refers to V, my mind’s eye renders this:

As for Cyberpunk, it’s in mah backlog. (Which already has un-completed games in it dating back to DA:O and Fallout 3…)

Vaarsuvius is indeed the true V, we all know that. ;)

And finished, on the 101 hour mark.

Nice, man do I wish I had that kind of gaming time.
