From my experiences with students, who mostly now are people born in this century, playing games is such a mainstream activity across so many platforms that many folks who we would have thought of as “gamers” a few decades ago don’t consider themselves gamers any more than I would consider myself a “computer nerd” simply because I have/use computers.

I’ve had similar experiences with my college students. They all play video games to a greater or lesser extent, and the one’s I’ve kept in touch with who are older (now in their 40s) it’s still normal for them to play games when they’re adults. Our generation (I’m a tail-end boomer) adults playing video games is considered a strange hobby. For my students it’s just normal.

This is Best Buy’s game of the day for their 15 Days of Gaming Christmas Sale. $9.99. I grabbed a copy for my XSX. After playing through a year ago on ps4, I’m pretty darn excited. Of course, I know there’s a lot of basics still broken but I’m jonesing to get back into that world.

The version you bought is the Xbox One edition IIRC. They didn’t release an actual Series X version of the game yet (or PS5).

True, but it has Smart Delivery, so it will automatically upgrade to the Series X release once that is out. That is what I’m waiting for.

I also bought the $10 steelcase version that was on sale earlier this year at best buy.

oh, I know it’s not the “true” Series X version, but I’m hoping the newer hardware will give me a prettier performance.

It won’t look prettier but performance is perfectly fine on PS5 and XSX. PS5 had crashing bugs at release but I believe they’re fixed too.
