“Improved crowd reactions” missing on oldgen consoles says a lot.
Fair play, they have handled this release very well over the last couple of days.
I think I’ll wait for 2.0.
Well, the oldgen basically had to remove all the crowds just to get a (barely) playable frame rate. Night City is a ghost town.
I’ll go to my grave with the opinion that their commitment to the older gen really screwed the development of this game. I understand the business reality of not launching with old gen versions, but imagine how different things could’ve been if they had skipped PS4/Xbox One.
Did the minimap zoom ever go in?
Yep, been there for months.
Yes, just like TW3 was decided to be nextgen from the start, so should have Cyberpunk. I wish future expansions were not tied to oldgen, still.
I agree, and honestly they may need to move on now to newer gen hardware and caveat emptor PS4 and Xbone. (But I don’t think they will, sadly.)
V now has standing with fixers throughout Night City. New fixer gigs will appear gradually in sets as your standing increases, and a fixer will offer you another set of gigs only after the previous set is completed in a given district.
Not sure exactly how this will work but the blizzard of calls from people you didn’t know was a big irritant in the initial release. Hope this massages that into something smoother. Not that I’m going to replay. Am I?
QUESTS
- Added a few secrets in Night City to be discovered by players. Due to some technical challenges, this change is not available on the previous generation of consoles.
This is both hilarious and intriguing. But it also looks like they’ve given up on adding non-cosmetic content to past-gen version.
Perk tree changes and I suppose the combat AI are the only things that sound particularly interesting to me as a PC player. Hope they actually made it better.
Patch is nearly same size as game.
I uninstalled the game, and deleted all configuration and save files (though backed them up), to make sure nothing breaks from some incompatibility with old files.

So it does have some ray-tracing on PS5/XSX-- but only local shadows, and still uses SSR for reflections. And that drops it to 30fps. Better than I had hoped, honestly. I betcha Digital Foundry recommends disabling RT and using the performance mode.
I’m watching the stream as I missed it, and the PS5 gameplay they open with looks nice, but that frame rate is jittery as hell. The real-time comments by all the people watching are not kind.

Ouch. Even on quality mode dynamic resolution should lock at 30fps. If it doesn’t, this is a failed release.
Just watch any gameplay when V is walking through the dancers on the nightclub floor. The frame rate is diving to the mid teens at best.

Brutal.
I’m actually surprised. They took a year. They couldn’t get framerates stable? Fuckssake.
Oh, they are dynamically switching the gameplay between machines. It starts PS5, then XSS, then XSX. That is weird. It’s seamless, so you don’t notice it unless you see the caption below.
The XSS is struggling with the nightclub.
Still, these are the impressions
