Living a few hundred meters away from that industrial area has to suck. Then again that’s your dystopic future for you!
The brutalist mega buildings are cool.

I’ve found myself not looking forward to this. The only bit that really appeals from what we’ve seen so far is cruising round the desert in the nomad’s car in one of the intro stories. Hopefully it’ll have the same kind of richness to its missions that W3 had, and that’ll pull me in.

If you think the stories themselves could pull you back in, what’s taking you out of it? The gameplay? I can’t imagine stories good enough to overcome gameplay you aren’t interested in?

Well, they’d do for ok gameplay :)

Most of TW3 writers and designers work on Cyberpunk. Ask yourself how likely it is that the quests, stories and characters in Cyberpunk are gonna suck.

I have real concerns about the feel of the gameplay. I’m one of those people that thought Witcher 3 felt bad to play, too sluggish, too much momentum, weird idiosyncrasies etc. Just walking down stairs undamaged could be a challenge. This is first person but that doesn’t automatically mean those problems go away, I’ve definitely played my share of games in first person that felt clunky.

This is me, and I think I’m even more demanding of moment to moment gameplay in a first person setting (when everything, specially shooting) needs to be precise.

For me TW3’s story delivery and overall structure compensated the bland gameplay, but barely (I like TW2 more, At that time the combination of gameplay and story felt tighter).

But, I think them cutting wall running is a good sign. At least they are identifying core moment-to-moment mechanics that are not well implemented and pruning them.

Wait wait wait, that was an Aussie? That is a pretty thick American accent there. For a moment I thought she must be Argentinian living in America.

I feel the same way about Rockstar’s games. I’m knee deep in Red Dead 2 right now (thanks Gamepass!) and I still find myself struggling to do basic things like climb stairs or hitch my horse without having to back up my character and do a 3 point turn. It’s not about the gameplay, though, for that game. It’s about the story.

Oh absolutely, I’m actually playing that now too in attempt to finish it this time, stopped due to frustration when it came out. The control issues reminded me a lot of Witcher 3. I don’t recall GTA5 being quite as bad oddly.

They’re not. I suspect Red Dead is a struggle because of the detail they put into Arthur’s cowboy walk animation. He struts everywhere, even places where strutting is really inconvenient. Like climbing a step at an oblique angle.

The Witcher 3 was good enough to overcome all those gameplay issues. I’m not sure I’ll feel the same way about this world. On the other hand, I’m less picky about first person shooting. So it should balance out.

Last of Us 2 though showed you can have super detailed animation and still feel snappy to play.

And plenty of open world games in the last five years have shown that you can have decent mission design in the genre, and yet RDR 2.

Does anyone know of an article that outlines all of the RPG systems in the game (or, I guess, a video)? I’m seeing in the hands-on videos that there’s a bunch of attributes/skills/perks/etc. that people talk about, but I haven’t seen anything that actually lists things out and explains them (even if incomplete).

I checked for a good wiki but struggled, maybe my google skills are weak.

Pre-order for $50 on Amazon, $10 off. This is a physical copy guaranteed to be delivered on Nov 19th. The PC version activates on GOG.

The last time I pre-ordered a guaranteed delivery (a Friday release), Amazon didn’t get it to me until Monday. I was not pleased.

Digital for me, $10 be damned. :)

But that needs an old timey optical drive? Come now.

Oh hang on - it says digital download on the image. What gives? It’s a physical box with a code on a post-it inside?

And a CD soundtrack, a booklet, postcards, and stickers. I mean, and you save ten bucks.

Even if it gets delayed again!
