Not to say my area of Seattle is any real representation of the country as a whole, but the DAoC: Shrouded Isles expansion had a very good release today. Stores all over were running out of copies. I barely snagged my own. The new content looks really fantastic all around.
The turn out as well as the interest for DAoC Shrouded Isles was much higher than that of AC2. I blame most of that on the very public beta period AC2 suffered through.
Anyway Im installing the latest patches and re-activating my DAoC account. Day off tomorrow, finally. Fun fun!
I’m sure the expansion will sell well initially as pretty much all the current players will want it. They won’t want to be left out of all the new stuff.
I got it today and have been enjoying it. I’ve been mucking around in DAOC again the last month or so and I have to say the new UI, the new graphics, and the cleaned up option stuff are almost worth the price of an expansion. Plus the new races and classes look reasonably cool (I have a tiny little newbie Reaver - hes fun). On top of that it looks like they added a significant amount of content, especially mid to high level content. Overall a good looking expansion.
I am on Albion Morgan Le Fay with various characters all starting with “Dan” (Danthus the Cleric, Danthur the Paladin, Danies the Minstrel, etc). Look me up if interested.
I also made a baby warden on the Co-op server (Danagh is his name). Hey my naming policy is not original but at least I’m easy to find :).
I really like the Co-op server. Sure it makes DAOC more like EQ, but in a good way IMO. One thing I like is the zone wide /broadcast - the Co-op server just feels a lot more social. Plus its neat to see all the cross-realm class combos.
