I got a bunch of chunks right after Aldrich, so you’re (probably) about to come into some good stuff.

Only time I alt+F4d so far is after I realized I’d screwed myself out of getting Armor of the Sun. I was pretty annoyed.

How did you manage that? I was curious and looked up the requirements for it, seems relatively straightforward, which probably explains the alt+f4 if you did something wrong! :)

I’m still rocking the starting Knight gear… with the exception of the helm which is now a Cathedral Knight helm (looks great!). Nothing else I’ve found so far has been any better for physical resistance types. It’s the first time I’ve been tempted to try and find some more of it.

Ooh! You just reminded me I never explored any further than the Aldrich bonfire. Begin facepalm.

Sorry, I meant chronologically, not literally right behind Aldrich. You should go back there, though.

I explained upthread, but in Demon’s Souls (which is the only other game I’ve traded in), you dropped your item and had to rezone, the easiest method of which was logging out. So I dropped my item and logged, this completely screwing myself out of the armor for this playthrough.

Right, I remember now, a change in the way Snuggly works. Yeah, that would definitely initiate the pressing of the keys ALT and F4 at the same time, I imagine with some force. :)

It’s ok, I’m wearing the Gundyr set now and running around with Winged Knight Twinaxes, so I’ve come full circle back to the double weapon guy via the road of strength. Although I have to admit wearing the full Solaire set while sunbroing would be extra sweet. Just helped a couple folks put down the Dragonslayer Armor.

The areas that begin after the Dancer have lots of upgrade items. I think this is intentional to keep you from getting too powerful a weapon to early. But after the Dancer, that is pretty much over.

Yeah, I got the Twinaxes right after the Dancer, and by the time I hit the next boss fog they were +10.

Ok, so my Raw +7 LS is doing about the same damage as a +6 lightning infused LS, so I’ll stick with the Raw and not waste resin. LS seems more effective than the slower Astora, mainly because agility seems important for this fight. Getting better at reaching Stage 2 more consistently, but all it takes is one mistake and getting caught in the multiple arcs…

And YES! Did it. After several more attempts with a combination of weapons, the best I was doing was 1/3 remaining of her health. I figured I knew the fight well enough that some jolly cooperation would be enough to push it over the edge. Introducing… DarkslayerDan! I took in my Longsword +6 w/ lightning infusion. Dan was another melee fighter and I think did the same (based on the sound effects I was hearing), and we had an absolutely epic fight, he’d go in and take some hits, then retreat and heal if necessary and I’d replace him, and we kept going like this. At one point I got pinned against the corner during the dancing blades routine and thought I was a gonner, but I was underneath most of the hits. Best boss fight experience so far, huge grin on my face now. :)

Now to walk the dogs and calm down a bit.

Congrats, I always try to beat the bosses solo but after a few tries it is better for the blood pressure to bring in some help.

Fashion. You’re playing the game wrong Krok ; )

For rings, unless I needed a resist ring, I pretty much just stuck with–

Estus, Chloranthy, Favor, Havel

Just a slight adjustment from the starting gear, looking bitchin’!

This is the cover of my next heavy metal album:

I’d buy that album.

No boss soul weapon yet? What are you going to do with all those titanite scales?

I don’t know, I haven’t seen anything that appeals to me yet. The closest was the Farron Greatsword, but at the time I couldn’t decide whether to go with that or the other sword from the Abyss Watchers… and then got neither. I might just go and take a stab (hehe) at it. The Astora SS is fine but a little too slow for me really, but the LS is pretty ineffective against anything with a shield. I experimented with weapons a lot more in the original DS, less so in DS2, and really I’ve only had these two in DS3 so far.

Ok, I grabbed the Wolf Knight GS but it pushes me over the 70% weight ratio into fat rolling territory, so that’ll have to wait. Also forgot I had the Hollowslayer GS, so I upgraded that to +3. A big damage reduction compared with my Astora, but it feels faster and it might be useful in Lothric Castle. I’ll try it out. I hope I don’t need any more scales, just used them all up!

Also, crashed again when I tried to travel to Firelink. Neither DS nor DS2 ever crashed on me, that’s about the sixth time so far. When it crashed to desktop, it told me that Google Docs Offline had stopped working. Um… ok? Incidentally, I had another enemy walking through the floor earlier, a Cathedral Knight that couldn’t go up some stairs.

I bought a lot of boss soul weapons, but I used the Wolf Knight GS the most. The damage is pretty great once it’s upgraded, and the special move on that thing…I love it so much.

Yes, I do like the moveset, and the special move… if you can get that to connect… :)

Anyway, I since found a Knight Ring which puts my STR up by 5, which opens up a few possibilities! Still don’t quite think I can wield the Wolf Knight without fat rolling, although being able to use those massive shields might negate the need for it!

Hit a brick wall trying to get into the cathedral after the two dragons at Lothric, must have died a dozen times before I thought to upgrade my standard LS to +7 and go for it. Well, it worked. A later knight just shrugged the LS hits off though, so back to Astora! Now I am facing a fog gate with something really unpleasant looking behind it.

Well, turns out it really wasn’t. Some giant, fiery wings evaporated leaving us with… well, someone familiar. Anyway, he went down very easily, first attempt. I’m now back at Firelink with a +10 Sharp Astora doing 483 damage. Not bad. :)

From’s DLC is too damned hard.

This is a great weapon but it scales with Dex so you have to consider that. It also, according to the game text, works even better against certain enemies, although I have never really figured out what qualifies.

The Lothric Knight Sword is as fast as the LS but has a little more reach. I currently have 5-6 of them leveled up in some way. My main weapon is a Sharp Lothric Knight sword +10. But I have a +10 infused with poison for invaders.

The Painting DLC really does step in the toughness of the base enemies. And the tougher enemies are really tough. Those damn crow knights (or whatever they are called) are vicious.

The Ringed City DLC is more about running gauntlets and exploring. There are several choke points where things get tough. And you have to get thru a pretty tough boss to advance from one area to another, a boss I have always summoned for.
