Friede, haha, what the fuck guys. I wanna kick whoever thought this endurance run boss up right in the nuts.

Phase 1: Huh, this is kinda tough, but maybe I’m just lucky with my build or whatever, not so bad.
Phase 2: Oh, of course there’s a phase 2, shit, ok, bad but not ridiculous. Got this.
Phase 3: Fucking what. From you sadistic fuckers.

The third phase is why I always need to summon help. By the third phase estus is at a premium.

Have you met the man and his dog down below?

I have a quality build (I think it’s currently 27 STR (32 with Knight Ring), 24 DEX) so it’s doing decent damage for its level. The Lothric Knight Sword sounds great, I don’t think I’ve found one of those yet. I imagine it’s a drop from the nasty dudes I’ve just been fighting. I need to go back and check another path in Lothric Castle anyway that I missed (just after the Dancer; blocked by a nasty Cathedral Knight on a tight walkway… that’s the one that bugged out).

I had a quick look at the Grand Archives last night. I was going pretty well until I got invaded by some dude. Alas I was in the middle of a fight at the time, and didn’t get chance to change weapons, so my slooooow-ass sword got parried, although I did get the dude with the weapon art! Took down 1/3 of his health in one hit. Sadly I couldn’t get the other 2/3 down quite as easily. My unbeaten pvp run continues!

It is actually a drop from the knights who are in the area between Voldt and the Dancer.

You do need to go that way for a couple reasons. And I had that Knight actually get stuck in the stairway and eventually fall to his death. Weird.

The Archives are a prime invasion spot because so many people are embered after fighting the previous boss. Plus there are a couple short cuts in the area so there is a lot of traffic. Did you see the message about the Lord of Cinder up ahead? That’s mine. Don’t worry, he is quite a ways up still, the Archives are a large and interesting place.

Turns out I already found one. Looking at it now, I realised I’d ignored it because it does less damage overall than the LS. I guess you get a bit more reach and stability as compensation, but I couldn’t see the benefits on paper.

Oh I didn’t get very far, just to the place with the vat of wax. Anyway, I will go explore the remainder of Lothric Castle first.

Incidentally, are the DLC areas really obvious places to find, or do you have to do some ridiculously obscure stuff like I had to in the first Dark Souls? (I would never have found the DLC without looking it up specifically)

Haha. The last phase is the hardest too. I spent a lot of time just getting to it so I could learn it. She is wicked fast and difficult to parry although there are opportunities for a backstab.

I…don’t believe I have. This sounds ominous.

No parrying with the twinaxes. I suck at it anyway and never got the hang of it in Bloodborne, nor, really here (although I think it’s a bit easier here). I’m pretty much always flying the “Rolly Roger”.

Spending the evening putting down my sign for Friede. Fuck this boss.

Haha, ain’t that some shit. Just got invaded and killed by someone I just helped defeat Friede.

There is an NPC summon for Friede.

The boss is close to O&S tier but there is a harder boss somewhere in the Ringed City and summoning help doesn’t actually help all that much.

yay…

The Smouldering lake was a little too scary for me at the moment, so I went to that beautiful bridge to Ithryll. Holy shit, this fight against an actual crazycroc is awesome. I’m getting my ass handed to me so far, but I’m loving it. Having a 100 percent shield helps so much, but it doesn’t help that much because of stamina limitation and countermoves from crazycroc that don’t care if you’re holding up a 100 percent shield. This is so cool you guys.

Woof, Lorian.

Are you saying I should change my avatar picture to this?

I agree though, a great fight! Like Sif, except teeth instead of sword!

You can get into the first DLC very early. At the Cathedral of the Deep. The second DLC can be accessed from 2 locations. One as an alternate bonfire prior to the final boss fight. The other access is from the boss fight arena in the first DLC.

So I guess the answer is they are easy to find compared to the DLC in DS1.

Typical Dark Souls irony, although I don’t think I have ever had that happen to me. Being embered doesn’t give you any advantage as a summon, since your health and number of estus are limited.

But he won’t show up until phase 2 I think.

Well, the hardest boss in the Ringed City is optional and actually hidden away, although you will meet it outside it’s “arena”.

Love that picture. It really is an awesome enemy.

Man, these later bosses are giving me Bloodborne flashbacks, and not in a good way. Multiple health bars, insanely aggressive, very little room to pull back and heal, catching rolls left and right…I threw down a sign in front of Lorian since I couldn’t find anybody else’s, and we did the first phase pretty handily, but in the second I got one-shot at over 1000 health. What the fuck.

The first phase of that fight isn’t easy but it is doable, the second phase is killer though.

Between the one doing fire damage and the other doing deadly magic you have to keep moving. I don’t know how many times I got hot with whatever that overhead slam/phaser weapon is that shoots along the floor. Also they are quick as hell.

After playing DS3 a few times I went back to DS2 and the bosses all seemed slow.

After this I will have done Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne and DS3 in pretty short order. I want to do DS Remastered, but I’m starting to feel a little fatigued, so I’ll probably take a break and do something else for a while. Maybe Fire Emblem.
