Dead Rising 4: Frank's back. All alone.

Pocketed a chunk of Microsofts cash I’d suspect.

Why is this all that surprising, wasn’t DR always an Xbox exclusive?

I think Dead Rising 2 was multiplatform? But I can’t remember for sure. Maybe it also came out on Xbox first. The best part Dead Rising 2: Day Zero came out for Xbox Live Arcade before the release of the full game, I remember that.

Return to Willamette video from SDCC:

EG has a good article on some the changes in DR4 and the reasoning behind some of them (like the disappearance o if timers):

“We didn’t want to limit people from finding the hidden stuff, the bonus content,” said Nickolls. “Not everybody’s a completionist, but most people do want to feel like they’ve seen most of the stuff, and that’s one of the reasons we made the decision we did with the timing. It’s always been super-polarising.”

Another benefit of nuking the timer, according to Cochrane, is that Capcom Vancouver is free to arrange and detail Dead Rising 4’s township more realistically. “When you had the timer you had to throw everything into the player’s path. Here it’s trying to make the player explore the world and find out things about it.”

Capcom’s financial results for 2016 reveal that as of Dec 31st, Dead Rising 4 sold 700k units across all platforms, including digital sales. Capcom’s PR called this “firm” with regards to their sales targets, but Capcom also predicted 2 million unit sales by March of this year.

I don’t see how they’re going to reach that 2 million number by March, if they couldn’t even hit a million in the holidays.

I don’t think Gamestop sold many copies. When I bought it over the holidays, they gave me a free snow globe, which were reserved for pre-order customers but they had a bunch left over.

Capcom announced today that Dead Rising 4 is coming to Steam on March 14th.

It’s still full price on Xbox. That’s unfortunate.

Didn’t realize this came out today, and I see Tom already has it. So, how is it? I liked the concept of the earlier games but disliked the time limit as it meant I couldn’t get a chance to see/go/do everything/where. DR3 was much nicer in that regards, but it felt kinda … tame after having played Dying Light

( it uses Denuvo so,. there’s that…)

We have sales figures from Capcom’s latest earnings report.

This game did poorly. Very poorly. Since launch to March 31st, Dead Rising 4 sold less than 1 million units across all platforms and territories. Capcom had projected 2 million units in 2016, so they were way off the mark on this one.

Capcom hasn’t really hit sales numbers this generation. Maybe it’s because they’re a dumpster fire?

That’s a shame. I liked what I saw of the game in Tom’s stream. It looked like a lot of fun, though not as fun as Dead Rising 3.

A game has to be ridiculously good for me to deal with Denuvo.

Pretty much my sentiments as well.

Inconsequential to a fault.

Shame to hear that, guess I should fire up the XBOX and finish DR1-3 instead then :) Didn’t really like the time limit as it hampered my exploration options though… I think the only XBOX games I own that I completed and did over 90% of the achievements for were Crackdown 1 and 2.

I have to respect this trend of continuing to support and improve games long after release.

Hmm. Harder human enemies and six new survivor escort missions.

Capcom has laid off a significant number of staff in its Vancouver office as part of a shift that saw the company cancel an unannounced project and cut scope on the next Dead Rising, according to a person familiar with the company as well as various posts on social media.
