How dare he expect the republicans to make concessions as well? How uncooperative of him!
You state facts which, in reality are not. Everybody on the forum merely thinks you ill-informed however, not malevolently disingenuous.
Heaven forbid taxes should be raised to reduce the defecit.
Did the Republicans compromise on some taxes? Any taxes? Even closing tax loopholes? No? HMMMMMMMMM.

Indeed, the president made the mistake of thinking the Republicans wanted to balance the budget. In reality, of course, they simply want lower taxes.

Well, I assume not all of those voted against it because it wasn’t conservative enough, looking at the list.

And don’t let the fact that the House leadership walked out of bipartisan talks and did not negotiate with the party that, you know, controls the Senate and ignoring completely every message of what parts of the bill would make it dead on arrival at all stop you.
Conservative != tea party Republican.
Obviously I know that, as I am neither a republican or a tea party follower.

Do you consider yourself a conservative, lum?
Right. You merely defend them constantly here in P&R because of a gypsy curse.
I was a registered Republican from 1984 to 2000. Only political party I’ve ever belonged to, or ever will.

I consider myself a moderate conservative. In fact, I used to have stalkers here due to my conservative views.
But conservative has little to do with today’s Republican party.
I’m the cliche fiscal conservative and social liberal. I long for the day when fiscal conservatism is back on the menu.

When I was growing up Ronald Reagan was a hero to me. I was registered Republican from 1987 till 1995 and still I voted mostly Republican until 2000 and even then I voted for Republicans in state elections up until recently. Now I wish I could retroactively go back in time and reverse those votes. I’m so ashamed at how ignorant I was when I was young. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not thrill with the Democrats either but at least they aren’t actively courting crazy people who want to destroy this country.
So you are a libertarian basically? Id be willing to be we actually agree on many social issues.
Probably so, since social issues aren’t dictated by greed. Brett, I’m impressed by your logevity in the face of being constantly proven wrong, but how can you persist yapping about things that are easily understood to be the opposite of your belief?
H.
Hmm I post something nice and neutral and you have to come back like a troll and an asshole. Sadly it doesn’t surprise me much.
Brett is trying really hard to be the most hated guy on Qt3. He got my vote.

This is P&R guys. We ought to be able to disagree with someone, even vehemently, and not “hate” them. No need for any of it to get personal - we can be bigger than that, it’s not like we’re Congressmen or anything. ;)
In other news, McConnel (sp) is now saying he will only negotiate with Obama, not Reid. These guys have become so incredibly full of themselves, even more than the standard Washington ass.
Not at all, that’s my friendly assessment. Your main concern should be why, despite your great efforts, no one takes you seriously. I’ve learned a hell of a lot from the folks around here becuse when I get called on an assumption I click the links and make sure I’m right. If I’m not, I change. That’s maturity.
