Damnit Brad, give me another 20% discout code, i hadn’t checked my email in the weekend, and now it’s too late, it’s already expired.
I wanted to use it in Elemental. :(
I received my coupon at 4:30 PM Friday and it’s already expired. Giving a customer less than three days to redeem a coupon sorta defeats the intent behind the coupon.

Wow i recieved an email this morning with my 20% Voucher :) Sadly by the time i got home from work to use it had expired. Perhaps give us a bit more time to spend it, im sure you want our money more than we want cheaper games?

I got a coupon on Friday that said it expired on June 15, 2009. Usually, that means it’s good through that date. Apparently not, cause when I tried to buy something today it was rejected. And then when I tried to email stardock.net, I found that the mailbox was full. :(

I used mine on a $7 purchase. Hell yea, savings IN THE BANK!
I bought the Sword of the Stars ultimate collection. Not liking the game much, but at least it was only $5.60. I pay more to see crappy movies.

Brad must like you. SOTS is still listed as $29.99 for me.
It was on sale over the weekend, that’s probably the only reason the game has three lightning bolts next to it for popularity.

Same thing happened to me. I’m fine with them having coupons expire whenever, but it’s frustrating to be unsure of how long you have to use the coupon.
Yea, I bought Evechron Legends for $20 with the coupon, but I’m lost as all hell just starting. Had to drive myself onto the space station landing pad 3 times before it seemed to pick up I was there.
Then I got a contract to go find something near the nav point. I’m there, wandering around and can’t find anything nearby. So, I cancel and get one to clear out asteroids. Whoo boy, 30 minutes of flying around shooting rocks.
Seems like a nice open sandbox game, but so far the interface is nearly impervious to new player comprehension :(. Ah well. There was a demo. My fault for not checking it out first.
Yea I think that the connection problems are basically eliminated.
I played all weekend and I don’t think I saw one case in a 5 on 5 game where someone had a problem connecting to someone else.

I have a stupid question that I’ve been meaning to ask , re: all the static defenses in the game, does armor have any effect on the damage they give to you?
Ha me too - I felt so cheap…
Yea, some marketing jackass at Stardock probably got a bonus for that little timing issue. I should at least have through the date to make my purchase. The suckiest thing is that I made 2 purchases over the weekend and didn’t see the coupon till today.
yes it does, very much so.
Towers & stuff? Sure. The only damage armour doesn’t mitigate, is damage from special abilities like Pounce, Hammer Slam and so on.
Mitigation% is calculated like this: 100 x (1 - (2500 / (2500 + Armor)))
Which means that you’re generally better off spending your gold on health and regen, once your combined armour value reaches 1000-2500’ish (depending on what and how you play).
If that’s too much meta info, try getting one of the following armours, and if you get hit a lot, the Platemail of The Crusader as well:
If you have no anti-creep AoE, get Armor of Vengeance (29.5/45.0).
If you’re too slow to get away, get Groffling Warplate (32.4/46.8).
If you hit & run or have ranged attacks, get the Duelist’s Cuirass (12.3/35.1).
The numbers in the parentheses is mitigation% without and with the Platemail of The Crusader, but obviously does not include whatever basic armour value the different DGs have at various levels.
For the Armor of Vengeance to pay off, you have to actually get hit by the creeps, inside some 15 seconds of their death. Usually that means running into a swarm of creeps about to be killed by one of your allies. I think. But don’t take my word for it, I’m still struggling with Sedna/Ooze UB builds.
Am I the only one who feels a little repelled by this coupon stuff?
The 50% on Demigod was an acceptable marketing move, but a 3 day coupon and the promise of future coupons if you play does not make a good impression on me.
I don’t actually care that much about the 3 day coupon myself, as even if I had noticed it early enough I couldn’t have used it since you can’t preorder with Paypal (The stuff on Impulse I’m interested in and have not bought already are preorders).
The short duration and luring with further coupons only creates a feeling of pity with me though.
I’m a happy and understandable Impulse customer, I can be reasoned with. I can understand some of the trouble an MP game faces concerning its community.
This promised reward for playing Demigod a certain amount of time had the exact opposite effect on me though and I decided to uninstall it instead.

Therlun: Wha?
Its not like Stardock has to give you coupons. Its their way of trying to repair the damage done to the size of the player base by the early network problems. If its that big of deal, set your e-mail spam filter to filter our Stardock e-mails. I don’t get your feelings at all.
It indeed reads as if I’m complaining about something free and completely optional.
It’s not the coupons itself I’m complainign about, but they whole activity=more coupons thing.
I feel slightly offended (if that is the right word…). I don’t want to play with a community the publisher bribes to play.
Why?
I don’t see any negative consequences. I also don’t see anything unusual about it. What about contests, tourney prizes, beta rebates & the tonnes of other odd things publishers to do attract players/keep them playing? I mean, DG is hardly a unique case.
I’ll admit the latest coupon thing irritated me, but that’s because it expired before we could use it. Seriously, who checks their game-related junk mail account every day? That’s just not reasonable. At least give us a week.
