Man, I forgot I even owned this game. I’m probably not going to play it again until the new DGs come out, the spotty launch (I mostly just played SP when I did play it) and completely ass matchmaking/friend-finding/etc. totally soured me. I have 0 interest in playing against strangers, and it was just too damn hard to get a game going with qt3/pdx.

shrug. It’s sort of like a customer loyalty bonus. It’s not like a freaking Safeway club card where they raise the prices and only give normal rates to club members.

Game balance changes? That’s a welcome difference.

I didn’t know they did this? How much do I need to play to get a discount on Elemental? :D

Just played (and badly lost, heh) a game in 1.1. Things that are awesome:

Teams can concede a game to end it early once it becomes apparent who is going to win

When players sell a minion idol, minions connected to that idol are destroyed

Reduced experience and gold reward from killing piling priests and angels

Angel unit AI improved

The reduced xp for Priests and Angels makes a big difference, Priests can now play a much more important part in the early game.

Concede - I have still not seen, most players either still rage quit (as their is no mechanism to penalise them) or play to the end.

Otherwise agreed game improved again - good to see

To Malcolm’s list I would add that the Heart of Life nerf is a godsend. (demigodsend?) No more portable health crystals!

I haven’t played the game since early June some time. I updated and logged in today and WOWZER, new particle effects! Turns out (I had no idea) there was a bug at release that made it so my video card (GeForce 7900GTX) and other in the GeForce 7xxx series wouldn’t display certain graphics… I saw user videos with so much graphical candy I was constantly jealous, but I figured it was because I played the game on low/med settings.

After one of the latest patches though the game looks so much better for me and there isn’t a performance hit, I can actually see who has auras and effects on them and being able to tell where stuff like the rings of fire are sitting is really helpfull. I especially love being able to tell where missle weapons are going/coming from etc.

Now I don’t have to be jealous.

Yeah, I had the same issue on some of my computers, kerz. And as you note, it wasn’t just cosmetic stuff. There were certain spell effects that indicated damage that you couldn’t see if you had one of the lower end video cards. It basically put you at a huge disadvantage to the point that I felt the game was unplayable. Imagine playing a shooter were you can’t see some of the enemies. :(

But I’m glad that’s finally fixed. I’m hoping for a few interface adjustments now.

I’m still on pretty regularly playing, but I’ve noticed the qt3 channel is dead and those who I did play with from qt3 have long since vanished.

So to anyone still playing or interested in trying, hook up here and I’ll teach what I know.

I play a game every now and then. The automatching is still bullshit, but the custom games seem to work fine.

I still play this game religiously. Apparently one of the recent patches finally fixed all the connectivity issues, because I haven’t had a problem connecting to anyone for a long time now. I’ve easily put 100+ hours into this game so far… it was definitely worth the $20 (with the 50% code someone gave me here). I’m CastleBrav0 on it, if anyone ever wants to play.

I haven’t played at all for at least a month, just too annoying setting up a game for people to meet and play. Once they add that back in then I’ll be more then happy to start playing again.

I play the game as much as I can, a few of us from Gaming Trend do as well and link up via Vent. If you have xfire then my tag is tals - although I play in Eurotime zone.

I’d agree the matchup could be better but I can’t see with what they have at the moment what they could do.

Tals

Demigod is the awesome.

I’ve pretty much mastered beast and have gotten pretty good with rook, spreading into some of the others now.

I spend most of the time in custom games since those fire right up where skirmish and pantheon can take 5-10 minutes to get going.

I would really recommend those that set it down to come on back, but play some single player to get the rust out. The skill level of the average player now is pretty high not much nubbery out there (except for you of course).

I would really like to see alot more items/artifacts to choose from. Most demigods have a specific item buy list that they just walk through to get. It would be neat to actually make choices against who you’re going up against etc.

I’m Breagan if you’d like to friend me on impulse.

impulse at this point is fairly useless for linking up imho. At the moment the only really good way is xfire. Hopefully when Brad sorts impulse out for the friends and voip it will make a big difference

I am having a ton of fun playing this game, but I am mediocre at best. It seems that I am never dishing out as much damage as the other demigods, no matter which I choose. I am aware of the proper skills to select, and I have familiarized myself with the proper items to equip… but mid to late game I am usually on the receiving end.

I’m not a master of the game, but I do pretty good with Selena and Oak.

Are there specific gods, such as that ever annoying Unclean Beast, that are getting you, or just in general?

Some general tips.

  • Don’t venture out alone in the later part of the game unless you’re just whooping ass.
  • Health is incredibly important.
  • Run fast and earlier. If you see a situation that has you unsure, just run. Don’t wait and see. You can pull back to your towers, find a buddy or another spot, or just get back the health you need.
  • What favor items are you picking? Health is incredibly important.

Thanks for the response. I have learned to make sure not to die, I tend to use the 800hp favor item, but sometimes play with the speed item as well. My main issue tends to be mid game, I seem to get out leveled/over powered around then… and its all over from that point forward. It seems no matter what demigod I select I get countered. this is especially evident with a sed/oak combo. Very hard for me (as a UB or Erebus) to penetrate through that. Most of my games are Pantheon, as the dark side…I have played as a rook and reg in custom games, I do better as a rook.

For me, I find that it’s best to keep pushing the map instead of fighting the other guys in the mid level. Sure, fights will happen, but really, you want to knock down towers and kill creeps.

If I’m getting beat or over whelmed in one place, I’ll just switch to another contact point.

To me, the mid level is where the game gets interesting. If you’re not leveling at some fast rate, switch up what you’re doing. Creeps are now easier to kill and still give good xp. If Oak/Sedna are pushing you back…well, that’s just what they do. Run away, circle around to else where, hit them with teammates, etc.

Overall though, keep leveling. Hit their towers and their creeps. Combat with the other Demigods is good if you can finish someone off and get gold for it, but if you aren’t killing other DGs, you’re not getting gold and you’re not getting xp. That’s going to hamper you.

Both UB and Erebus are serious health gods if you level them correctly and get good stuff to go with them. I often see them both walking around with 5k+ health. Use that to your advantage, hit people, make them run and then turn around and kill creeps if you aren’t going to be able to finish them off.

Hope some of this helps. I’m not on as much these days, but I’m on as ‘wzrd’. Love to play some games.
