Proxy server version is being staged.
Huh… there was an update earlier today that was apparently the proxy version. I hopped on, played a couple games, saw the “players waiting” in pantheon, used the /noai switch. But it never found a Pantheon game - I played a couple custom games instead.
Connectivity was fine for the first. For the second, halfway through the game, it instantly dropped everyone (or rather, it dropped me) and I was playing with and against all AIs. I never saw a 30 second timeout screen, so I’m assuming I’m the one who dropped. Not sure why, really.
Now, oddly enough, there’s another update when I fire up Impulse.
Also, by way of bug reporting… for some reason when I click “chat” in the Impulse overlay in-game, it takes a couple seconds to try to connect to the IRC server and then gives me an “excess flood” disconnect. I’ve only been able to connect to chat once, ever. It works fine in the Impulse desktop client, though.
Anyone know where are things at with the favor?
Jason, our updates only handle the initial starting connections for custom games. GPG is working on an update themselves to handle what you mentioned.
Wait…which thing I mentioned? The chat in-game “excess flood” thing?
By chat in-game, I mean when you press shift-tab and hit “Chat” on the impulse menu. And it takes you into a limited IRC client. I thought that was all Stardock stuff, not GPG stuff?
Maybe he means Pantheon games weren’t helped by the patch?
Players being dropped once they’re in a game. I think what Brad is saying is that, at that point, you’re playing on GPG’s net code, not Stardock’s.

Ah. Well yes, that’s certainly an issue. The in-game network code needs a little more robustness, and some work to reduce bandwidth requirements. I’m sure they’re working on it.
I just received my 50% off Demigod code:
[I]Greetings Demigod user!
As you know, Demigod is a real-time action strategy game that incorporates tactical combat with role playing elements. When played on-line, it is best played with groups of people as opposed to 1 on 1 as seen in many other strategy games.
Since Demigod’s launch late last month, we have been working with developer Gas Powered Games to enhance the game. We have a lot of exciting updates in the works. One of the things we have been particularly concentrating on is improving the game’s multiplayer connectivity.
We have been gradually improving the Demigod network connectivity for those who enjoy playing on-line with other people. On Thursday, May 21st, we released an update that introduced our own network of servers to host the connection for those users who have had a hard time getting connected to other players online.
As a token of our appreciation to our customers who have waited patiently while we’ve addressed the on-line multiplayer difficulties, we present you with this 50% off coupon on purchasing a second copy of the digital version of Demigod for your friends or family. This will only be valid until early next week so this would be a good time to use it.
In addition, next week we will be sending out a second coupon that will give users 20% off of any game or application on Impulse. To help encourage an active Demigod community, we will be occasionally be sending out additional coupons to active players of Demigod (people who play more than a couple of hours a week).
We thank you for your business and hope you are able to enjoy these updates to Demigod.
The teams at Stardock and Gas Powered Games

Killzig you are the MAN! Just ordered. I’m up to play some games all this weekend if anyone wants to get something organized!
New players should post their Impulse name, so we can add you to our Impulse friends lists. Unless, of course, you’d rather not be our friends…
