Loving the Unclean Beast. Once you get the healing items that have over 20 health per tic, the ooze does no damage to the beast.

I’m starting to think that I’m just not cut out to play demigod online, as this is one of the most frustrating games I’ve played this is the only game I’ve played where I can feel my blood pressure rising the longer I play it. Movement and attack bugs have cost me my life countless times and not being able to click on the mini map is driving me crazy. I watch how I lose 3/4th of my health from the first demigod attack and my attacks barely scratch everyone else and I have no clue why every time. I really hope I’m not the only one who feels this way as I’ve died countless times playing L4D and TF2 and I’ve never gotten angry at those games.

Jab - it is very frustrating not know what people are building and how they can survive. Eg, I played that game with you and they had a QoT, Sedna and a rook camping right at our citadel, we would go in & do damage, walk the 20 steps to our crytsal, return and it took 4-5 times before we’d even get them to retreat.
The answer of course is replays. Supcom had a great replay system where you can literally watch step by step what the players are doing. What skills they pick, what’s in their inventory, etc. It’s a great way to learn the game and I’m with you on getting very frustrated.
My only advice is to play the various demigods against the AI to get to know them. I’ve played and can play Oak, Regulas, Beast, Rook or Sedna, but I struggle with QoT, Torchbearer and haven’t even tried Erabus. I don’t know how people play those so effectively.
Gear plays a lot as well. When to pick armor vs mana when you have cash is very important and I really have no clue.
The thing is in that game, all of us were fairly even except for Dark_Terrorz who is very very good at that game. For example, he hadn’t played QoT much at all, and yet he really can do anything with any demigod (you should see him with Beast). So, buck-up a little, we were overmatched. Pyrhic is better than me, DT is way better & that was the first time I’d played with EFG and he’s no slouch.
Another big problem is that you have no idea on how good the people you are playing. Supposedly if you play Pantheon & skirmish you will establish a rank, but I’m really not up for that. I’d rather be on Vent playing with and against friends like we did tonight.
EDIT: and you’re right in that move bug is a bitch. It happened to me at least a dozen times tonight in that game.
That was a fun game, very back and forth, but the final swing of Giants vs. no Giants plus capturing the two side portals did just enough damage to end it before you guys could counter.
I had never played Sedna before and I think she is a little bit overpowered. Half the time I was taking direct damage from towers or creeps (or any DGs) and barely even noticed because my health wasn’t dropping (UB’s spray poison attack wouldn’t even hurt me, it would just make me regain health slower). The only times I died were when I wasn’t looking and failed to retreat along with my team and got hit by abilities from 2 or 3 of you at once.
Jab, maybe tomorrow would could all gang up against the AI? Give that a shot… It would be a lot less pressure and more fun. That is how I like to play most of my RTS’s.
I had fun, even though we lost pretty bad.
Maybe if you posted saying when, instead of hoping people are all on-line and available at the same time :D
Also: time zone info. “I’m on at 8pm” probably doesn’t mean the same to both of us.
I tend to bring the connection info up, if I see a player drop out before th egame starts I then drop out. Until they have the game pull in another player when one drops out its the only way to ensure the matches are equal. Having played one 2v1 match not really up for any more :)
I’m playing Pantheon and loving it - random pickup’s so far have worked great and getting a reasonable win percentage.

I don’t think you guys lost that bad, we were even in levels and kills for most of the game. I thought it was over when we camped outside your citadel but we couldn’t do any real damage to it and you guys drove up the sides and forced us to go back and recap flags really nicely. That was one of those games where I had no idea if we were going to win, but even if we had lost it still would have been fun because it was so even.
You guys were in our base like 90% of the time… if we could have had giants though…
I finally won my first Skirmirsh against the AI. Lame that it took so long, yeah, but I’m only just now realizing:
- you folks really weren’t kidding about the run away early and often advice
- I suck at Rook when I’m messing around with Towers of Light; too much fiddling around, when what I need to be doing is bowling for Demigods and smiting them with my hammer, occasionally pausing to rip down a building.
I’ve also vowed to reread this thread, since it’s basically replaced the manual/tutorial. The fact that I had to learn how to use a teleport scroll from this thread is sad-making.
Fun game, though. I bet multiplayer’s a good time, but I’m too a’scared to embarrass myself at the moment to venture out into the wilds. Assuming I can connect to anyone…
Has everyone received their coupon? I never got one and I already have someone who wants it. What’s up?
Anyone want to team up against some CPUs this afternoon? hit me up, Jon_Danger on Impulse

I was just on looking for people, but the qt3 channel seemed empty. Jumped into a random pickup game (3v3), and managed to win!
I haven’t had problems connecting, but the biggest thing missing (IMHO) is a way to continue with the same folks you were playing with. I would have happily played another few rounds with those folks, but we were dumped back to the main menu after the game.
Also, I’m on Impulse as BaronVonRocket, in case anyone is up for a game.
The nice thing about Rook is his ability to suck away towers and regain health. The first thing you should be doing is hunting creeps until you’ve gained a few levels - this is for any demigod you’re playing. The hammer is good to kill a whole wave of creeps.
So how are you folks getting together. Like, for example, if I wanted to play now.

Yeah man, powering up that tower drain ability is awesome. Once you get near the end, you can just roll through a whole lane if nobody is defending it.

I think that game last night was a lot closer than you might think.
Level-wise, we were close, with the exception of jab who fell off near the end. In fact, tman and jon were both above everyone on our side iirc.
We were dictating the terms, to a certain extent, and pushing the fight close to your base but you also chose to fight us there. I think that was a tactical mistake - imo, one of your guys should have broken to a wing and started opening up flags, something you did later to some success. At that time, you overextended yourselves and allowed for 2 of you to get caught in a pincer when i came in from behind you.
i agree with the bugs. It’s ridiculous that you have to keep clicking to keep your demigod moving - when I decide to retreat, i usually pivot the camera so I’m directly above, and i click about once a second to where i want to go - and even then, my dg sometimes decides to fucking stop or attack something.
Also, jab, I think you wouldve benefited from being in vent with us - I know alot of information was passed back and forth that wouldve been useful.
Yeah, vent helps alot.
I can remember many times
“Beast and Oak coming in from the left” was said
and I quickly moved back to the other side…
:)
I would love to play again though.

I have to second this. When I played my first game ever online today, I got killed several times because I clicked some spot by the citadel, and then discovered I had just been sitting there taking hits.
