A couple of weeks ago, in a tweet, she was criticized for how crooked the part in her hair was.

To be fair, this is some Paul Manafort level shit. Maybe she’ll pardon him.

But other experts, including Brendan Fischer of the Campaign Legal Center, say the allegations are “speculative” and that there’s no evidence that the PACs improperly subsidized work for the campaign.

He and other election law experts say the lack of disclosure by Ocasio-Cortez’s team is the fault of relatively lax laws governing reporting on payments to so-called sub-vendors.

Because the FEC doesn’t require it, the LLC didn’t have to list how it used the money paid to it by the PACs.

Fischer and Ryan say that if Ocasio-Cortez and her team did, in fact, mislabel payments (that were not “strategic consulting”), the FEC would consider that to be a minor violation that could result in a fine — not jail time.

“There are phrases on the FEC’s approved list of phrases that should be used to describe fundraising activities and phone-banking activities. ‘Strategic consulting’ is not some magic phrase that covers everything,” Ryan said. “But in the grand scheme of things, the FEC would consider such an inaccurate description of the purpose of a disbursement as a very minor violation.”

Now, since AOC is (rightly) decrying money in politics she probably should have held her staff to a higher standard than the law allows. That said, that conservatives are covering this with nearly apoplectic fervor is hilarious. They’re doing the same thing with headlines blaring about “Democratic anti-semitism!!1!!!”

And in both cases the MSM starts covering these stories that ooze through the anal fissures of right wing insanity unironically with (yet again) Chuck Todd literally using the phrase “Dems in disarray!”

(By the way, if you use reddit and want to get a glimpse into the fever dreams of right wing media, go to to /r politics and sort by new. The headlines from Townhall, the Federalist, Free Beacon, Washington Examiner, NRO, and Fox will fill you with “delight.” You’ll also instantly recognize the kewpie-doll like responses when certain posters try to own us libtards with their talking points. They’ve become a malformed borg completely oblivious to how brainwashed they are.)

No way. Around the 2016 election and a little after, I’d poke my head into /r/the_Donald to get an idea what the other side were seeing/thinking. It had been useful exercise for me in years past, but the experience frankly creeped me out and disturbed me. I have no desire to turn over that rock anymore.

No need to go elsewhere, you can witness horrifying racism and sexism right on these very boards!

The headlines are sufficient. No need to read the actual articles (the comments are sane as /r politics skews left.) It’s funny though you mention that because my SO still does it and I’ve (jokingly) implored her to stop because it’s breaking her brain heh.

I get a little of the right-wing nonsense in my Reddit feed through r/TopMindsOfReddit and r/subredditDrama. Scrolling past those posts is plenty, thanks.

Dems in disarray y’all

I like how we have an Omar “controversy” when you have Steve fucking King sitting on the other side of the aisle. Oookay.

RUFKM with this lede, NYT? Fuck outta here.

That is the NYT’s motto correct?

The controversy (in sensible circles anyway) is less because of what Omar said and more because a surprising number of people on the left seem to want to defend what she said. I mean, I couldn’t care less about what Fox and its friends in the right wing “media” claim is going on, but when there’s a Slate editorial saying you have a problem then there’s certainly a controversy. And I think there needs to be a controversy, not because Omar needs to be punished (I covered this above), but because there’s a lot of antisemitic crap floating around on the fringes of the left and you need to draw a line in the sand to make sure it doesn’t get normalized.

I know right. They won a shutdown fight, and got R votes in senate to denounce the bullshit “state of emergency”, but the thing about Omar “caps a month of stumbles”. DEMS IN DISARRAY sigh

Thank you for telling us yet again how we should correctly feel over Omar’s comments! It’s very helpful to have someone insist that something is antisemitic with no room left for disagreement or divergence of opinions.

Democrats Disarray In Darkness

Unfortunately everyone knows it’s all about her, and the islamophobe/white supremacy part will be ignored since it’s already rampant and completely ignored.

This is Pelosi’s olive branch to those in the party who are unhappy to be joining in on a Republican pile-up (regardless of how much/little it’s deserved), do you reckon it’ll work?

It won’t “work.” It’ll just give more cycles to this fake hubub. This is one way Trumpism works. Never apologize for anything. Ever. No matter what. It sucks all the air out of the drama.

Eh, I think for Democratic leadership, they just kinda want to move on, lessons learned hopefully. To Ilhan Omar not to silence her voice, but to simply maybe ask that she try to be a bit…maybe pointed? Surgical? Something like that. But also and more importantly to Omar’s Democratic colleagues like Vargas to not jump at the bait and carry water and make it easy for the GOP to stick shit like this into the news cycle.

[EDIT] Also, implicitly maybe it carries a message to some voices that helped blow this thing up, like Josh Marshall/TPM. Sharpen up.

Beto is likely to announce soon. Maybe it’ll be that he’s not running in order to spend time with his family, but I’m betting otherwise.

And just in case anyone has forgotten how awesome he is during all of the recent disarray (tongue in cheek):
