Almost there, 599- just need a 600 set of gloves.

I poked around the Shattered Throne last night, solo. One of those Ascendant Planes where you can’t see farther than ten feet and there’s lots of platforming. Not too difficult if you take it slow, but the whole thing is a maze and it’s all ‘in darkness’, so no respawning… which is a problem if you’re solo. Still, the enemies didn’t seem to respawn, so once you clear out an area, you can wander through easily enough. Trying to resist reading a guide about how to get through.

god damn it this fucking “matchmaking” in competitive mode is infuriating.

My team: 4 solo players
Enemy team: a 4 man group
We do not get a single kill.

Ok, sometimes you lose a match.

Next match:
My team: 4 solo players
Enemy team: The same group of 4 players that curbstomped us.

Bungie must be laughing their asses off, hopefully karma hits them hard at some point.

Guess what:

3rd match.

The same fucking thing…

They even have the highest rank weapon from last season.

I had a match earlier that was called early because we were losing so bad- 8/60 or something.

Then I had a gambit match where, when I started, there was only one other player on my team, and the other team was up to 60 motes banked, and there was 2 ogres and a variety of lesser things guarding my post. Then they summoned their Primeval, and one of their players felt the need to continually come through the portal to kill us, and we still hadn’t even collected a mote, much less banked a single one. Hilarious.

So, I haven’t had time to play in the last 4 days- crazy work week. I got done tonight and checked in on D2 and there was only one Powerful Reward available- a Daily Gambit match. I played (and my team was destroyed, no thanks to me since I kept falling off the edge of the map and losing 12+ motes at a time! But I digress) and as a reward… A pair of 600 gloves, f the last thing I needed to get to the top.

Now to do the tedious dance and see if any of the Legendary armour pieces I’ve collected actually have the perks I like to be upgraded to 600, and hopefully be in the styles I like. I’m fond of the Crucible body from last season, pictured here with the only exotic that makes sense for me in PvP- it drops a healing rift every time I get slaughtered!

And lastly, a full set of the Dreaming City armour- I need to beat the Shattered Throne wearing it for a quest. I like the Descendent Vex Chrome shaders on it, that make it look like tarnished copper. Something I love that I think is new since I stopped playing last year- the ability to go into your collection and spawn new copies of any shader you’ve previously collected!

Well done hitting 600 just before the cap goes up again :)

I’m still missing the chest piece for tbt Dreaming City gear, but it does look nice.

Heh, it only goes up if i buy the Annual Pass and keep playing, right? There’s too many other games right now- I’m finally getting into Torment:Numenera, Mutant: Year Zero and Subnautica (finally!) come out tomorrow (either free via GP or already paid for in Early Access years ago), Warframe: Fortuna hopefully by the end of the year, etc.

That said, I’ll probably still be on D2 occasionally for the near future- it’s not like I’m quitting cold turkey. And I probably won’t wait a year to come back next time- I may decide to pick up the Pass when the next mini-expansion hits, depending on how it looks and how Black Armory is received. The game is certainly very much improved over release (which I actually liked more than most people).

When puzzles go wrong…

https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/47567

While coming together as a community to solve puzzles can be fun, setting this puzzle up as a gate between you and new content that you want to play has not been an ideal experience. As such, we will be decoupling the puzzle from the final offering of the Black Armory.

Crimson Doubles event now.

a 2 vs 2 pvp event.

Gives you a debuff if you’re too far away from your team mate, but also gives you a buff if your team mate dies, or when you’re close together.

Had some really terrible team mates, and a few good ones. Like this guy who picked a great time to use his emote :)

New patch, new exotic questline (for Thorn) and a lot of buffs.

But this… w h a t t h e f u c k.

  • One Thousand Voices
    • PvE damage increased by 25%

For more information:

New Gambit mode is interesting. Just one round, but a long-drawn-out boss fight.

Apparently the rewards from this mode unlocks something called ‘Reckoning’ that I have no idea what is, but the impression I get is that it is a tiered thing you need “Gambit Prime” resources to play in.

"The Reckoning is a tiered-event where you’re going to collect high-end gear and weapons to upgrade your Guardian. Many of these items are going to assist you in the Gambit Prime game mode, but they’re also exceedingly powerful in their own right. "

Also seems like the Exotic drop rate has increased, or I just had a “lucky” two day streak with 3 exotics, … althought 2 of them were duplicates from Year 1 I already owned, the last one was the final Hunter exotic I needed — just a shame they nerfed the hell out of it a few weeks ago.

Bad thing in this patch was that they removed all iron Banner bounties in my journal – which were all ready to handin, so probably lost 100+ IB Tokens and 7 Primal Engram rewards.

More on Reckoning:

*When you matchmake into a Reckoning game, you’re going to fly in and land on The Drifter’s ship called The Derelict. Proceed forward, and you’ll get taken to the large chunk of ice attached to it called The Haul. From there, you have to figure out how to start the match, and you have 38 seconds. You’ll want to get use to the timers because each phase of the quest has a timer attached to it, and if you can’t complete the task before the timer runs out, you’re out. *

Before you proceed through the mission, go towards the mote bank placed on the left side of this open area. Open up your inventory and interact with your Weak Synthesizer by using one of the Synths you’ve acquired – you’ll want to choose the one associated with the type of armor you want. You should receive a particular mote for your troubles, and then you’re going to deposit this mote into the bank.

Makes it sound like it will be frustrating at start due to people not knowing what to do, and the short time limits. Already notice this in gambit prime.

Bungie has the best matchmaking in the biz.

Mind you, this was at the start of the match, and at no time did the number of players “queued” before it began go higher than 8.

Look on the bright side: you probably managed to trigger the mercy rule for the first time in the history of the game.

Well, there’s that :)

And we did.

Season of Opulence is greater than News?

Whoa what?

Soooooooooooooo…? How does this work with people already playing (and paying) through Battlenet?

Account migration, etc, but what about the people that added it to their Battlenet accounts for free? Same deal?

Article posted and then removed indicated that Destiny 2 may (will be?) going F2P in September.

No info on what existing owners may get out of it…

Edit: new link up:

uhm, article states Shadowkeep goes live on Windows 10, but not other Windows versions?
… Bnet has been pretty good for Destiny 2, except for the shitty us/eu split.

Having to migrate it all to steam, doh.

Activision is basically kicking Bungie out of the basement, then…
