Just a reminder on reset tuesday: Anyone who wants free Xbox One HardMode loot from Thrall Abyss Lamps shoot me a PM, happy to solo it now with my Titan.

Still working on a solo strat for my Warlocks!

I’m not totally sure I follow you Kadath, but if you have extra high level gear you can’t use or don’t need, then I’m your huckleberry. I’m working on buying a legendary armor set from the Vanguard vendor, but I am sadly low on damage output and have been trying to luck into exotic weapon pickups but my best luck with that seems to be heroic strikes, which are hard for me because my damage output is so low, argh death spiral. If you need another person for a strike, I’m up for that, but honestly I think I’m pretty useless at this point on raids. Though I would like to try them.

Post it if you come up with a solo warlock strategy for the lamps Kadath. That would be super handy.

Pogue, he’s basically just going to have you stay at the start and once he finishes that section solo you will get loot just for being there.

Oh, well I would feel like kind of a chump doing that but I’d probably get over it.

The first part of the Crota’s End raid can be solo’d relatively easily with a high enough level character. The reward for completing that part of the raid is a guaranteed 2 Radiant Materials (shards or energy) and possibly a piece of raid armor (chest/boots/gloves could all potentially drop there). You could also get a class item (who cares), and on hard mode you have a chance of getting the raid Pulse Rifle Oversoul Edict (no idea if it’s any good).

Since he can solo that, as long as you meet the minimum level requirement to attempt the raid, you can just stand there, he’ll run through that first part, and you’ll get your 2 materials and possibly a piece of gear, once a week. There’s also a separate chest in that first area you can get to with 2 more radiant materials, which you should take advantage of once a week because long term, you’ll want a lot of those radiant materials.

Can warlocks make that jump for the shortcut from the second lamp? If you can do that, you can get to the end, I’d think. Seen a Titan do that pretty easily. And if you can get to the end, it just comes down to whether or not you can kill one ogre from the safety of that rock, right? Almost certain that’s doable for any class if you have a Gjallarhorn, and I suspect you could do it with Hunger of Crota though you might have to use your radiance.

All the classes can make the second lamp jump. Ryaend and I used to duo it cause we couldn’t get a full raid team together so we would just duo the raid up to Crota.

But that Orge is damn near unkillable solo. Definitely not with a Hunger as I have tried and died many time. If you’re on the rock you’re out in the open and he will kill you nearly instantly with his void laser thing. If you try to hide behind the rock thralls will get you. He doesn’t take enough damage and doesn’t stagger as often with a sniper either. I haven’t tried since I got my Gjallarhorn a few weeks back, well at least not solo but in groups it would be me and another guy when we made it to the end we would take him down rapidly with Ghorn rockets.

Anyways if you’re doing it solo, your best bet is if you have the Patience and Time sniper. That will give you about seven seconds of invisibility. You’ll hop on the rock near the lamp as this should cause the orge to go left instead of straight if you were to jump on the rock near where the bridge is forming. This is all about survival. If you’re feeling lucky you could use P&T to shoot him a few times and hope he staggers so that would give you a little bit of extra time. But if not you should be able to time him walking to the left and go invis just before he sees you and starts shooting at you. You’ll want to then time it so you walk off the back of the rock and start walking towards the bridge. You’ll need to do this all while aiming down the sights of P&T. If all goes well you’ll make it to the bridge when it’s done forming. If not and you were attacked while making your way to the bridge you should be able to Radiance and the bridge should’ve completed.

re: Iron Banner, nice to have new (to me) maps and tweaked bounties! Using my Hawkmoon all evening instead of having to knock out a bounty with the Suros first was pretty fun. I think I’m still actually a little better with the Suros (or at least I was before the recent patch), but the hand cannons are more fun. Looking forward to playing all week.

If you really want someone to take you through the lamps, the best tourguide is a hunter, since it’s essentially trivial to just walk through the whole area.

If you have the “Don’t Touch Me” gloves, then it’s literally trivial. You can, seriously, just walk through the whole thing.

Still a little challenging on hard, but yes, considerably easier than with any other class.

Yeah I can make the normal jump on all 3 characters but its VERY easy as a titan, and the titan can bubble up long enough to make the ogre a non factor on hard. I can’t do hard on my hunter or warlock yet, but give me time =) Will look for you tonight Pogue.

Begun the Xur wars have:

Meh, it’s been obvious from the start that Xur is a jerkface. Just ask Chaplin.

Whether or not Bungie controls him is immaterial.

According to Megamanexe4 (the guy in the article who datamined Xûr’s original inventory), I think we’re due for Hardlight this week and Thunderlord next. I really hope that still happens; I’d like a Hardlight, and I know plenty of other people who haven’t found a Thunderlord who would appreciate that even more.

Yeah but nobody will cry if Gjalla comes up instead.

Pogue, PMing ya!

So I don’t know, this might not be funny to anybody but me - I joined up with Kadath, who stepped me through some of the loot chests in hopes of getting a better weapon (thanks again, Kadath!) but no joy, just materials. Which are still going to be useful, just less immediately so. So after that I decide to take a spin through the Crucible, join a skirmish already going, doesn’t go too well and my team loses. And at the end, I am awarded an exotic sniper rifle called Patience and Time. I gotta laugh.

Haha, congratulations. That’s a good rifle.

Hardlight came up this week, but I was mistaken about the date of Megaman’s Thunderlord prediction.

Megaman said this week he can no longer see the upcoming exotics (mostly, he can still see the upgrades or something). He’s not sure if Bungie has changed the server stuff completely or if they’ve just manually intervened again this week.

But Hardlight was what he (correctly) predicted for this week. So it’s possible Bungie has fixed it so he can’t see things going forward, but all along he was previously able to see the loot planned really far out, it wasn’t a week to week thing. So whether he can see it or not, if Bungie still adheres to the original loot table, it will be MIDA Multi-tool next week, and Thunderlord way out on May 8th. Kind of a big if, but there you go.

So I’d need 11 more Strange Coins to get Hardlight. I can get 9 from the weekly strike.

Best way to get the other two?

Big caveat: the Hardlight is by all accounts just an “okay” gun. Like, if you had no exotics at all, and you found this one, sure, use it, but if you have other options, you’ll probably never chose this one. I’m mostly interested in it because it’s one of the last exotics I don’t have. Also it apparently looks and sounds really cool. But as utility goes, you’re probably better of saving your coins for a better gun or armor. You’ll hate yourself next week if something more valuable is available and you busted your ass this week and spent all your coins on the Hardlight.

That said, if you’re coin hunting, there are two available in the campaign, one as a mission reward for one of the Venus missions (can’t remember which one, but if you completed the campaign you already got it, you can’t miss it), and one available in a golden chest on Mars. If you have alternate characters that are high enough level to get to Mars but you never bothered with the golden chests, that might help you out.

If you start a new character from scratch, it will take you somewhere between six and ten hours to make it that far.

You can run strike playlists, strange coins can be rewards for those. You could run them for hours and not get any, or you could get a couple in a single strike from rewards and engrams. It’s probably faster than a new character if you only need two, but there are no guarantees.

They can also drop as random rewards for public events, or as part of the once-per-day reward package for the first public event you do. And if you haven’t done the Nightfall either, they can drop as rewards for that.

So if you only have one character, I’d do a public event first (if you haven’t already today), Nightfall if you haven’t already, and then I’d run strikes and hope for the best, but be prepared to run a lot. They never seem to show up when you need them.

edit: I think they can also drop as faction reward packages, so if you’re a few points away from leveling up your Vanguard rank or Dead Orbit or something, knock out a few bounties to get that reward too. Assassination bounties give you the most Vanguard/faction rank.

I wouldn’t waste coins on Hard Light. I have two of them that I found at various points.

It’s basically a mediocre autorifle. It’s not bad, but it’s most definitely not worth using your exotic slot on, and frankly, I’d go with various legendary primaries over Hard Light.

The main issue with it is that its exotic perk just doesn’t really do anything useful. Penetration and ricochet bullets are just not useful. I honestly don’t even know why the ricochet perk is in the game, as there’s essentially no way to make use of it in any kind of consistent fashion.

I’d save your coins. If you happen to find it randomly, then cool. But I’d hate to see someone waste coins on this gun, and then miss being able to buy a GOOD gun later on… Like the mida-multi-tool. That gun actually has some significant utility for specific types of strategies.
