Grinding public events was the initial impetus for creating my second and third characters. When my primary character was still in that 24-27 range, I really wanted those ascendant shards, and I didn’t have to get my alt characters up very high to start completing one public event per day (for the postmaster bonus mostly) in the Cosmodrome with each of them too. By the time I went back to play those two characters for real, they were each leveled up to somewhere in the high teens without ever having left earth. Also piled up a lot of spinmetal running around waiting for public events to happen.

The “problem” with Light Levels:
I couldn’t agree more that Destiny needs an auxiliary progression system. Bring on the skill points system Bungie.
I solo’d the Nightfall last night (other than checking who was online and pulling in Chaplin at the end), and I almost did it without dying at all. I had to use Radiance once when my dance with an Ascendant Knight went wrong.
Being a bit less stingy with heavy ammo packs made all the difference. Having plenty of (arc) rockets for those Wizards made things considerably less tedious. I’m gonna start stocking up on those now that I’m not pouring all my glimmer into upgrading pre-DLC exotics.
This is the first nightfall we’ve wiped on, ever. And we wiped multiple times. Those damn wizards are tedious.
We really needed a 3rd guardian!

Ya, the room with Momo is where all of the difficulty is at with the Phogoth mission. Once you’re past that, it’s pretty cake.
The trick is to fall back out of the room and all the way up the stairs when the 3 wizards spawn. Lure them out with one guy, and have the others waiting at the top of the stairs to just obliterate their faces when they come out.
But ya, it’s a tough one with arcburn, cause those wizards throw SO MUCH damage at you. Combined with the Knights shooting boomers, and it gets ugly quick.
We promised to never speak of it, but merryprankster and I wiped once last week on Sepkis. I put too much faith in the safety of the cheese spot behind the grate on the bottom left so I ran off there without giving prankster a heads up. He stayed up top, died, I couldn’t get there to res him. I tried to solo the rest of Sepkis but took more splash damage from grenades than I realized I would down there. Whoops.

I think I tried to invite you to a Nightfall yesterday. My friend invited a couple of guys too so we were full. Sorry about that. As for the Wizards I find it’s actually better to use Fire based weapons on them versus Arc since you’ll need to take down the shields first. Heavy Weapon packs are nice but I still need tons more glimmer to upgrade everything. At least Xur has a chance to sell them and I have 100 strange coins ready, unless he somehow sells Gjallarhorn and/or Heart of Praxic Fire as those are the only two exotics I want/need at this point. Maybe Hawkmoon too but that isn’t happening.
Anyone on PS4 available for Vault of Glass on normal at 9:00 EST tonight? I’ve got two friends that have never done any raiding (level 28 and 29) looking to attempt it, so we need three more.

I’ll be on around that time. Have you asked Chaplin? he might want to get some VoG action.

How long is such a thing? I’d really like to poke around there… WITH MY NEW ICEBREAKER!! :) I have the evening free, but the timezone crunch has me pondering dinner timing.

You still looking for a raid buddy? I may be available.

I have gorgon CP on both X1 and Ps4 if anyone needs.
Jazar, I don’t think we were friends yet and PSN search is being flaky, not sure how to add you at the moment.
Huzzah, we didn’t finish it, but we had a good time getting up to the gatekeeper. Thanks merryprankster, Jazar, and Chaplin! Sorry for the embarrassing number of times I died at the very beginning trying to form the spire!
What we had left was the gatekeeper “fight” (which was basically over as we went to orbit), then a relatively complicated sequence traveling in and out of some portals to get two relics, then a similarly involved fight against Atheon himself. If it all goes smoothly, it actually doesn’t take too long, certainly less time than we spend going through the confluxes-oracles-templar fight phase, but it’s definitely more complicated to explain initially, and there’s more that can go wrong (whether through player error, bad luck, or occasionally bugs). So that was a good place to stop. Thanks again!

Thanks for taking us through the tour on VoG. Glad to have finally seen most of it and with a great group! No special gear but I should now have enough shards to reach 30!
Did you guys show Jazar what happens when you have to cleanse yourself and the cleansing pool is no longer available? I thought that was the coolest part the first time through, but the second time onward, no one even gets to that part because you’ve figured out how to never let that happen again.
You mean you die? Does something more specific happen? I don’t even remember.
All the people who were alive when you were marked die, yes. But anyone who was dead, but later revived doesn’t die. So you have to keep alternating who is dead and who is alive and be careful not to revive everyone at the same time or you all get marked. I just thought that was the coolest part of the whole damn Raid. So clever, and requiring so much coordination. It’s a shame it’s completely skippable from the second time you do the Raid onwards. Or if you’re doing it with someone who has done the Raid before, you’ll likely never see that part.
