My hunter is level 30

I did some of the quests when the DLC was released but stopped… I have done some of the Eris bounties as well but my Eris DLC faction level is still at 0 (three quarters to 1)

any idea why I still cant do the weekly this week?

You need to do the Eris quests to unlock the strike, then the nightfall should be available.

You have to do all three story missions, and then several of the Eris bounties she offers after that. Off the top of my head, I think there’s one where you just have to kill a certain number of Wizards and Knights, and then there are three missions that involve finding and killing specific hive in the Cosmodrome, and after each one you kill a big wave of Hive spawn in to attack you. You have to have cleared all those before you can do the Omnigul strike, whether as part of the Nightfall/Weekly, or just regularly.

You can still run them with someone else if they’ve unlocked it though.

Where do I find these quests? Eris doesnt have them listed

Here’s better instructions for what I was saying: http://kotaku.com/how-to-unlock-the-new-strike-in-destiny-the-dark-below-1668878289

You can still do them if you group with someone else who has it unlocked and make them leader.

Heavy ammo fix found but could take as long as a month to get in game

Yeah, that’s depressing. I mean, yay, they found it, but still. I finally hit 32 last night (hooray) but that means I’m finally wearing my raid boots, so I’m affected by the glitch (boo).

Ok, ye Destiny gods, give me some advice. I have 17 strange coins. This week, Xur is selling those Hunter invisibility gloves that everyone raves about. I’m fully upgraded on both Hunter specs, so I could use them effectively. I’m level 28 currently (lots of purple gear waiting on AE for the last tier). He’s also selling the upgrade for my Thorn. I’m not fully upgraded on it yet- mostly unlocked the first bubble of the last tier of upgrades, so now would be an ideal time to get it, if it’s worth it. To get it, though, I’d have to either buy an Exotic Shard for 7SC, or break apart my other (completely un-upgraded) Exotic, the Thunderlord, which frankly doesn’t seem that exciting- I’m more of a rocket heavy weapons guy.

Now, to get the gloves, I’d have to actually buy the Expansion. Which would let me run the heroic weekly strike to get some coins back. I’ve been on the fence about the expansion for a bit- there just doesn’t seem like a lot of content there since I don’t do raids, but now I’m finding that the cool gear is gated off, which is frankly kind of shitty.

Don’t touch me gloves are epic. You should get them.

I can’t tell you whether or not to buy the expansion though. That’s up to you, depending on how much value you get out of the game.

But if you do get the expansion, I cannot recommend those gloves enough. They let you do stuff that is otherwise impossible in PvE. They’re like the icebreaker of hunter armor.

Yeah, what Timex said. It’s pretty hard to judge for you whether the expansion is worth your real money, but if it is, then the gloves are worth your Strange Coins.

The Thorn is fun to play with and uniquely useful in a few very specific occasions, but the opportunity to upgrade it will come along more often than the chance at the Don’t Touch Me gloves (probably). And Thunderlord is supposed to be pretty fantastic, that’s one of the only exotics left I want but haven’t found, so don’t get any crazy ideas about dismantling it.

Yeah, Thorn is awesome… but you can pretty easily get either a new thorn, or get a chance to upgrade that one. The gloves are harder to come across.

Since we’re talking gear, what do you guys like for exotic armor in general? I realize it comes down to a lot of factors: class/subclass, play style, PvE/PvP, but in general, what do you run?

Obsidian Mind seems like a pretty clear winner for being a Warlock. If I’m running Sunsinger, sometimes I switch to Apotheosis Veil though, entirely because it looks cooler.

My Titan usually goes with Ruin Wings for super rocket fun times, but I love the look of Insurmountable Skull Fort, and the Glass House is probably a better choice when I’m support on a raid. Striker is also the only subclass I don’t have maxed yet, so maybe Helm of Inmost Light is the way to go as a Striker but I don’t know yet. I’d like a Saint-14, but no luck finding one yet.

My hunter goes with Don’t Touch Me, but that’s mostly based on running Crota’s End. Achlyophage Symbiote is probably good for Golden Gun, but I don’t find myself running that too often.

Anyone got any great synergies between powers, weapons, and armor that I’m overlooking?

Monte Carlo (if you’re on PS4). Defender Titans and Sunsinger Warlocks can pretty much always have Force Barrier/Flame Shield up. Use Claws of Ahamkara on a Warlock to stretch this even farther with double melee charges. You can use Amplify with a Striker to Fist of Havoc more often, or Voidwalker’s Soul Rip to throw even more NBs.

Forgot about No Backup Plans for Titan, good synergy there too.

It’s not a bad weapon its own either. Basically a better version of Up For Anything.

Well, y’all made me break down and buy the Expansion. I thought ‘hey, I’ll buy the season pass, and save ten bucks’. Nope, only five. Buh.

So I bought the gloves and spent the evening working through some of the new content. Not too bad, and definitely harder than the normal stuff at this point. I also picked up another epic weapon bounty, and this time I chose the one for the Shotgun Invictus. I wonder what crazy BS I’ll have to pull off to get this one…

Do not break down Thunderlord, that would be a crime. Wait on upgrading thorn. Get don’t touch me. My advice anyway.

One thing to note regarding the gloves…

With those gloves, a hunter can pretty easily solo the abyss section of the crota raid, even on hard mode. So make sure you do that every week to get more loot.

Ultimately, I decided to not break the TL- I’ve maxed out the Thorn now (xp-wise, still needs the shard to actually do the last level), and am most of the way up the ladder with the gloves. The invisibility did come in handy in the last room of the Crota Strike- it got me out of some bad situations. That room is crazy- I can’t even imagine it on Hard Mode. I don’t think I’ll be getting the other four coins I need for the Shard at Xur. Oh, well. Some other time.

Almost didn’t get in any Crota raids this week, but figured I’d better at least try tonight. Jumped into a random group that breezed through it with no problems at all, a first for PUG for me. Got Thunderlord! Then I got a message from Thongsy asking if I wanted to jump in for just the Crota fight, did that, and got Hunger of Crota! That group stuck around for another complete run and I got…another Hunger of Crota. But hey, that’s more Radiant Energy. So I nabbed an exotic and a legendary that I was looking for tonight, plus almost enough radiant materials to bring my total up to enough for another level 32 character. Pretty good luck, glad I logged on!

I’m really hoping the new Nightfall and Weekly are not from the expansion tomorrow. And then maybe if I can do the Nightfall on Wednesday, this can be the week where I try to complete 25 Strikes, or whatever ridiculous number I have to do as the first step in my current exotic bounty. If I do that, I’m also hopefully I can earn that “earn maximum vanguard marks in one week” achievement too.
