Damn it. Another week with no Strange Coins for me then. I really should have found time last week somehow. Any non-expansion weekly must be cherished.

It seems like the expansion content is more heavily weighted in terms of how often it shows up as the weekly.

The thing is, I’m sitting on a bunch of coins, and basically never have anything to spend them on anyway.

That Omnigul strike is every three weeks at least with it being every other week once or twice too. I finally got the Fang of Ir Yut yesterday from Crota. Only thing I’m missing from that raid is the Swordbreaker shotgun which I don’t care all that much to get. I’m pretty much done with it unless friends need another person and i’ll join but I shall no longer actively look for groups for it. Says me now, just give me a day or two and I’ll probably go back and try and find a group on Reddit or something.

I can now solo run the Abyss on Normal again using the jump method so if Dr. Del or others can use shards or armor from that shoot me a PM in game. Can do it on both X1 and PS4. I also have the Gorgon CP on both systems too.

Edit: Jealous of that Thongsy. Word and Fang and Crux all elude me still, but I now have an Abyss and Edict for all 3 characters on X1 and 1 of each on PS4.

The last time I did any PvP was at least three Iron Banners ago, so I’ve got a bunch of weapons I didn’t have (or didn’t have leveled up) before.

I’m terrible with Hawkmoon. I’m not much better with the Vex Mythoclast. I’m pretty decent with the Suros Regime. But most of my joy comes from wasting time firing into walls with the LDR 5001 for occasional thrill of killing someone I can’t see. That will never get old.

Try a Last Word in Iron Banner. I had terrific luck with that last time I did IB.

I never got that quite maxed out, but I just finished leveling up my Thunderlord, so if I do enough bounties I might be able to have that fully upgraded sometime this weekend.

Xur has Heavy Ammo Synthesis. Go get it!

Also, Bungie is adding matchmaking to weekly strikes. I was opposed to it but I know a lot of you wanted that. Now you can’t solo or duo the weekly any more, which is a shame…

I’m theoretically good with it on weekly strikes, but that’s based on good experience picking up other people committed enough to be using DestinyLFG or something. Hopefully it doesn’t go off the rails when any random level 27 (or whatever the minimum is) can be thrown into the mix.

I’d like to see matchmaking implemented across the board, or at least the option to opt into it. It’s why I’ve never really pursued heroics, Nightfalls, or raids. I’ve tried DestinyLFG a few times but I’ve never been clear on the PS4 side of the process, once I find a match on the site. Do I need to create a party, or locate the person in-game, or… it’s all very cumbersome. (Actually – is there a guide for that process somewhere?)

I like the idea of matchmaking for the weeklies and would probably use it some (Though I’m sure if I saw anything lower than 31 I would be back to orbit. If you can’t be bothered to get your gear from the vendor I can’t be bothered to carry you through a weekly). I can’t imagine doing it for the raids though. They are just too complex and require too much coordination to make work for a matchmaking scenario.

Still If they wanted to allow matchmaking for things I think that’s great as long as you can opt out if you want.

Basically you need to add the players to your friends list, then join their fireteams. The other option is to just message people in the tower and see if they want to do it since you can just join fireteams in the tower.

Really though, if you are on PS4 you should just add Schmidt, Chaplin and Myself. I’m not playing every day anymore, but I am always happy to do raids and weeklies with people. I don’t really need much gear at this point, but playing Destiny with friends really is that fun.

It is still a little cumbersome, but what I’ve found works best (and seems to be the default these days on DestinyLFG) is creating and inviting someone to a PS4 party chat. You can search for someone and invite them to that without making them friends first, and from the party chat menu you can also join other players’ games directly (if their Fireteam setting is public).

The party chat is better quality audio than Fireteam chat, it lets you stay in communication while switching characters, and ultimately lets you join Fireteams with these one-and-done groups without junking up your friends list. Definitely the way to go, since there’s no other way within the Destiny interface to find or join anyone you’re not friends with.

Very helpful – thank you!

I have a 31 Hunter and recently started a new character warlock which is now Level 15. I have progressed to the level 16 missions on Mars and am well though the single player story missions.

I have bounties that are regular strike bounties (Septis Prime for instance). But I can’t access them from Orbit because the Strike icon isn’t an option (the icon to the left of the crucible icon).

How do I unlock the regular single player strikes?

You need to be higher level to unlock the Vanguard strike playlist. Just go to the strike on the planet, those are unlocked as soon as you unlock the planet.

What level does it unlock at??

The strike playlist puts you in random strikes with random people. So you may end up doing the Nexus one five times in a row or something. Which won’t help you get the Septis Prime one done.

It unlocks at umm whatever level that is required, I think they are 20, 22, and 26.

Maybe 22, 26 and 28 after the expansion. I can’t really remember since I never really do strike list.

Voidfang Vestments are finally upgradable by Xur. Unfortunately you need an exotic shard, of course, and that is 7 strange coins. I’ll have to double check, but I think I only have 3, so the upgrade is impossible for me this week. Hopefully he’ll have that upgrade again soon. I do love using Voidfang since my void class starts with a grenade, which is pretty awesome in the Crucible.
