I’m a big fan of spending points on mobility upgrades (jump, arm strength, fall, possibly cloak etc) and more or less sitting on the rest until you need to use them for something.

The bosses are rigged in the sense that everything you need to defeat them is available in their area.

Or you can unlock the Typhoon and turn bosses into a fine mist in less than 10 seconds.

“Visually stunning environments,” eh?

Is Jose Liz writing their press releases?

I was saddened I couldn’t just one-shot bosses with it since the level 2 aug description says (I paraphrase) it will kill any living thing and also any robot.

Anyhow, after the first boss, I just kept it in reserve; didn’t seem fair, somehow :)

I wonder how is the DLC going to be integrated into the game.

There’s a point in the game where you get into a shipping container and go for a boat trip, sounds like it’s there. Not sure how it’s integrated if you’ve already finished the game, though.

typhoon dont always work on all bosses. just sayin’

Any suggested strategies for dealing with . . .

right when you get back to China

. . . saving Malik? I know it can be done, but she goes down fast. I don’t have the typhoon system, so that’s out.

My suggested response

Take out the heavy guys first, they seem to do the most damage. if you have the sniper rifle, two shots each should do it. Then, you can mop up the little guys until the mech shows up. Emp that guy quickly and you should be good.

more on that
Move fast. The only weapon I had at that point was my trusty silenced pistol–it took a few tries, but I made it. Like Pyrhic said, take out the heavies first. What worked for me was jumping down, immediately tossing out concussion grenades to stun them, then popping them in the head. One shot from the pistol with AP upgrade did the trick. Then I jumped up to the upper floor of the building on the right and it was just a matter of staying in cover and moving from one attacker to the next. Don’t stop, and don’t get pinned down.

If you don’t have an EMP grenade, I have no idea how you’re going to handle the robot.
Tips about crash fight

Most people with a specific “plan” seem to have gone down and to the right into the little cover area down there. You definitely want to get as many red barrels as you can for quick easy kills that way, prioritize any heavies you see, and have an EMP ready for the bot when it shows up. Once you have all of that in your head the fight is actually pretty straightforward. Evidently some of the “pacifist” players even managed it non-lethal.

I tried it nonlethal at first, but fuck those guys.

About nonlethal…

crash fight
I never considered not blowing them away, so I don’t know how hard it would be, but I’m guessing hard. That strikes me as rather clever - you’re free to play non-lethal for the entire game (let’s pretend certain scripted fights don’t exist) but in that section there are consequences, because you most likely can’t save Malik. Which is quite insightful really - it’s a bit of a fantasy being able to always make the right moral choices without ever killing anyone, and the game is clever enough to press that on you while giving you a choice. You can be nonlethal, but there are consequences, and not necessarily morally desirable ones.

Then again someone is probably going to tell me you can win the fight nonlethal no problems :P
You can do it nonlethal. You just need to run, a lot. And alternate between the stungun and takedowns. Make sure you stock up on chocolate bars.

Thanks, I was able to make that work. Luckily I had a lot of Combat Rifle ammo saved up.

the plan

I think as long as you keep the badguys from getting behind/underneath the plane you’re fine, but you can’t hesitate. I tried to be cautious the first time and pick people off safely from a distance. I thought I had it covered, but I just didn’t take out the heavies fast enough that way, plus I was to far away to EMP the mech.

So, zip to the right immediately, take out everyone in the lower levels, and then use that as a place from to pick off the guys (especially the heavies) trying to approach Malik. Blow the mech with an EMP obviously, and then mop up any remaining snipers.

I used a silenced pistol, so this might be tougher if you use something noisy and they all come after you, though then at least they wouldn’t be gunning down Malik. Grenades and mines I imagine would help too, though I didn’t go that route.

plan two

I think you could do it if you had the tranq gun fully upgraded for reload speed, and burned a few candy bars for takedowns. Well, unless anyone got caught in the mech EMP -> self destruct.

What’s the range on the PEPS like? It could be of use.

Gas grenades.

10 feet maybe? Its like a tazer shotgun, that hits a few people in its cone of fire.
