I have never seen a AUD anywhere in my game.

All the pre-order bonuses work like that. You start with one in your inventory, and then they’re randomly itemized throughout the game world in lockers, on corpses, etc. If you don’t have the bonus installed, those lockers and corpses select from a shorter list for their loot.

What is this Deus Ex game you’re playing? Never heard of it before :)

The pre-order hacking item is awesome. Good thing you can run the debug console to get more of them.
Oh, okay then. It’s not really necessary anyway thanks to a proliferation of nuke and stop viruses.

I didn’t have any preorder bonuses, and I wasn’t exactly starving for those viruses throughout the game. I did invest in hacking augs, though.
Well, on the second play through I just wanted to ‘get on with it’ so the auto-hacking items were invaluable.
Yeah, I pimped my hacking to Five asap, and grabbed a few other hacking skills, but not enough to call my character a hack-master or anything. I only really had a problem with one specific hack, but that was early game and I had previously blown through my aids while attempting an equally difficult hack. I never really worried except for a few specific level-5 hacks.

I normally don’t care much for it, but man, the steam achievements are insanely broken in this game. I completed the game, and don’t even have the “I completed the game” achievement? And probably have about half of what I should have. Is that normal for steam achievments or is it because of the game itself?
Strange, I got all the Steam achievements that I should have gotten.

They’re also very useful for hacking security terminals that are in a guard’s line of sight when the guard is covered by a security camera or turret. Stay crouched, chuck an AUD on the machine and wait for the hack to complete (and the guard to wander off, if he notices the noise). Then creep over, cloak, stand up, quickly switch off the cameras, crouch, uncloak. You’re then free to have your wicked way with the guard unsupervised. This has been very helpful at a few points for me going for the no alarms/no kills achievements.
Another tiny thing I noticed last night: If you hold down middle mouse whilst using a computer it unlocks your view from the screen so you can glance around. Mostly useless but nice to know.
Sounds like you lost internet connection for a while.

Really? Deus Ex is an “always online required” game if you want acheivements? Thats pretty silly! Oh well, its not like I care (Although apparently, I do!) but I just find it somewhat annoying.
I think you can also hold down the left and right mouse buttons simultaneously to achieve the same result.
The (mostly helpful) things you learn from paying attention to the loading screens!
Using the gamepad, you can just move the right stick without holding down any buttons. :p
No, I think that’s the way it works for all steam achievements. If you are offline when you earn it, the achievement does not register on steam. At least that happened to me with various games.
I wasn’t getting any achievements at all for awhile when I started the game. I manually logged out and back into the community and the game “apparently” synced up all my achievements.
