Are you referring to the ‘cleaners’?

It shames me to admit I didn’t see that one coming.

OK I had a weird thing happen last night. I was playing through Detroit (yes, I am the slowest AAA-player on this forum), and I was in the police station, and I had no option to takedown anyone. Then I got to the armory and picked up something fun, and I dropped the stun gun.

And then I had no option to do any takedowns at all. I went after all of the DRB goons (taking them all out with my massively upgraded 10mm pistol), but I never again had a takedown option.

What am I missing? Do you have to be carrying a stun gun to do takedowns? There is a slim chance that I was simply so pistol-happy that I forgot to get close enough to do any takedowns at all, but I don’t think so. Is there some weapon you have to be carrying to do takedowns properly?

Shooting people in the face with a tranq rifle is fun though :-D

You don’t need any weapons to do takedowns, but you do need one full segment of energy per take down. You should see the energy bars underneath your health and it does take a long time to recharge without eating any food.

I think you need them to be hostile to do a takedown. Not sure how you got into the police station, though.

Finally started up DX3 since I got to that 3rd boss 12 days or so ago. Made it past on my 2nd try. I really do not like the turn for this final bit.

The social aug is AWESOME for the police station.

You can do takedowns on non-hostile targets, and indeed I frequently did so right before reloading from a save. What you don’t get is an onscreen prompt to do it.

AHA! Thanks, that’s very helpful.

Now and again I’d accidentally do a takedown on someone I just wanted to prompt for their flavour-text. Sorry man, wrong key.

I’m looking forward to utilizing that feature liberally on my second playthrough.

Finished it recently, thought it was excellent. The soundtrack was the real outstanding aspect though. Hits the future semi-dystopian melancholic note perfectly.

I don’t see how. Does it make my Combat Rifle bullets do more damage to the police officers in the station or something?

Awesome.

Harumph.

the final level

Zombies? Really Eidos? Feh!

Yes, it allows you to introduce them to your bullets.

I finally finished last night after having my playthrough rudely interrupted by Dead Island and I’m sure I have nothing to say that hasn’t already been said. Thanks for finally making a sequel to DX, Eidos! It’s been added to my short list of games that will never be uninstalled (ME1/2, AC2, ACB) which I think is pretty good company to be keeping.

Now I can hardly wait to begin my guns ablazin’ lunkhead replay.

I learned a valuable lesson last night: twisting necks is a lot slower than hacking turrets. Oh well, it gets you more XP. Ahhh, sweet, sweet XP.

There’s one conversation where a Belltower guy is warning a civilian that Jensen is on the loose, and after the conversation was over I went to takedown the guard… stupid reflex aug. I did feel a little guilty about the woman I laid out but it was a good animation so I didn’t feel too guilty.

The one guaranteed place that I had it happen was in the side mission in the Detroit slums where you need to knock out the gang leader so the cops can pick him up. You can break through a wall into his room and take out his guard.

I did that and… Uhhh… Failed the mission. Reload!
