Oh no, don’t get me wrong, part of this is just luxuriating in the options. And yes, legs have got to get better. I am thinking:
- Typhoon (because it’s awesome)
- Legs
- Faster sprinting
- High jumping
- Silent movement
- Faster energy recharge +2
That, on top of my existing social (MUST HAVE) / hacker / camelback build, should be TASTY. I’ll be like Ninja Flash.
But honestly part of the fun I’m having now is seeing how pretty much everything can be done without the beefy augs – I haven’t really had problems getting around on China’s roofs. I’m sure it’ll be a lot faster once I’m Steve Austin-legs.

I haven’t thought about the Typhoon or the energy cell. My super commando build doesn’t have any need for energy at the moment. I’ll eat a candy bar if I have to takedown two people, but in general I’m too busy throwing grenades and spraying thugs with the combat rifle.
If you’re having issues with boss fights, the Typhoon is a pretty convenient solution to those. Once I turned it on (after the second), none of the ones that came after were any challenge whatsoever.

Right, I’m fine with a Terminate Dumb Bosses With Extreme Prejudice button.
Oh wait - important caveat (it’s been a while since I finished); it’s utterly useless in the final boss fight, along with quite a lot of your other stuff, but there’s another cheaty solution to that problem that I’ll put in spoiler tags below that renders that fight a non-issue.
make last boss easy
Pick up a laser rifle. There’s one in Tong’s basement when you visit him before going to the dock, in the room where he’s sitting. The laser rifle can shoot through pretty much anything without issue, so the obstacle blocking you from damaging the boss that you would otherwise have to work around becomes a complete non-issue.

I love spoiler tags! I’ll come back to that one. That’s one advantage of playing the AAA games after everyone else: by the time you need advice, the thread is almost dead, so answers to your questions are trivial to find :-)

Screw that, I just continue talking about the game as if it was just released, since I rarely buy anything on release day anyways.

Yeah, I have a combat rifle that I keep upgrading with every damn upgrade I find. I think it is like quadruple fire rate and double reload speed now. But I never use it because being Ninja Flash is more fun for me (and more XP). Still, when I do have to unleash hell, I’m expecting plenty of festive fireworks…

For some reason I’m actually trying to sneak through this FEMA facility to get the Smooth Operator + Ghost bonuses.
I’m assuming shooting someone in the face with a silenced sniper rifle from 100 feet away doesn’t count as them spotting me.

No, no it doesn’t. I like the tranq rifle for that too – with the aim mod, you can snipe people with it from way far away. Then they fall down and their friends run over to check them out, and you can snipe their friends too. Of course you’d better get them all or one of them will wake all the rest of them back up, but that’s usually manageable especially once I get faster sprinting :-D

I actually rarely use it, but this guy’s pathing keeps interrupting my hack attempts at a terminal so… dude has to get got, and so does his friend that eventually walks by.
I haven’t picked up any non-lethal weapons yet. I considered keeping a rocket launcher on me but it seems extraneous since I have so many mines and grenades, and groups of people aren’t that hard to combat.

I did the exact same thing and hoo boy was I glad to have it for a couple of the boss fights. It’s a decent investment even if you prefer to render entire levels unconscious instead of opening fire. I love me some stun gun and takedowns!
weapon mechanic spoiler?
Though once I figured out that stun charges disable cameras for a short duration, I tended to use it a little more sparingly.

Has anyone tried using XBCD? Throwing the dll in there isn’t working. Hrm…

The rocket launcher is such an inventory hog. Like you, i used mines and grenades exclusively. Worked like a charm and the mines are really useful in the boss fights.

Haven’t tried any mines at all yet. I do LOVE hacking robots though – my little cyber buddies are so TOUGH! I’m almost to the China boss and saving two points for a last-second Typhoon upgrade :-) I’ve got more Typhoon ammo than is probably strictly healthy… wonder if twelve Typhoon shots will be enough…

I’m conflicted between Typhoon and Icarus, but now that I just got into China I’m remembering that getting rid of jumping damage could save quite a lot of time with traversing the area.

I picked up the Icarus upon entry there on someone’s recommendation here, and GOOD GOD what a game changer. You just stop worrying about the vertical altogether.

It might have been my recommendation, hah! I was having enough fun with high jumping in Detroit, but the problem was getting back down took time. They should have merged the two augs together somehow, I think, but regardless the Icarus stun landing is pretty awesome and it has a HUGE AoE on the stun that goes from insta-knockout to dazing people that are near the edge of it.
Bill: Interesting, I’ll have to remember to get that aug for the playthrough where I’m not gunning people down indiscriminately.

Yeah, I picked up superjump and supersprint last night, and then splurged on the Icarus at one point when I found myself confronted with a huge drop. Man, that is entertaining alright. Looking forward to playing the rest of the game with it, though I have an uneasy feeling I’m more than two-thirds of the way through already…
