Any of you jokers played the dlc yet? I’m curious to hear impressions.

Send me $15 and I’ll let you know how it is. I seriously cannot justify that price point for what I know is just going to be 3-4 hours of content.
Sure thing Otagon, check’s in the mail. So anyway, any of you jokers played the dlc yet?
Everything about this DLC makes it sound like something that was in the original game that they’ve cut out so they can ca$$$h in.

Yeah, it’s definitely overpriced, $10 is more like it. Don’t plan on getting it at the current price point.

Except that the boss fights were handled in house rather than being contracted out like the others. That would tend to refute your theory. If it was cut out, then the contractor would have handled the boss fights.
There are boss fights in the dlc? Never mind then.

They did indicate they were addressing the major boss fight issues by allowing multiple ways past the encounter. I assume that means you can talk the boss down somehow, whoever it may be.

You can still do takedowns just fine. There’s no reward for not incapacitating anyone, but as long as you don’t get spotted by the person you’re taking down (or anyone else), you’ll still get the Ghost bonus.
But would you pay $60 for 12-16 hours of content?
I’ve just started my play through of HE and am pretty in love 5 hours in. It really does have a polished DE 1 feel. I really don’t want to rush so I’m doing as many sidequests as I can.
It does make me realize that I want a proper FPS open world Noir game, complete with foot chases and back-alley beat downs. The non-lethal approach in this game is way more fun than the lethal approach, I’d love to see a game take this a step farther and have ways to tackle/fist-fight opponents.
I’ve found the conversation system pretty entertaining, if a little insta-winy and rote. I think the writing stands out in being just classy enough to make it feel like you’ve actually been persuasive.

For the first batch of content, quite possibly. However, I have already consumed 28 hours of DX:HR. Four more hours for about half the price of what I paid for the base game is not a terribly appealing transaction as I was already very satisfied with the amount of time put into the game. If the additional content were more reasonably priced, I would be willing to reconsider, which in my case just means I need to wait a few months for the inevitable sale/discount.

Yeah, I can wait on the DLC.
Just finished the game last night, tooooooo late (well, too early in the morning, technically). Still my GoTY thus far. There was one moment in particular that made me very, VERY happy when I got to do it. The ending was slightly off, but I can live with it. More in the spoilers thread.
My total time played must be around 38 hours. I wound up with two Praxis points unspent after buying literally everything I cared about at all. I didn’t get the useless Stealth upgrades (the original radar was all I needed for the whole game, playing Mr. Non-Lethal), nor did I bother with silent running – I had expected to, but I always crouched anyway in stealth situations so it seemed silly. I did get fully upgraded cloak, max sprinting, max strength, etc., so I wasn’t short of options at any point and it was all great, great, great fun.
Kudos to Eidos Montreal for doing what many thought impossible. I really really hope for Deus Ex: Cyber Revolution or whatever they call the sequel!
This is the right approach, and one of the things that I liked best about the game (as compared to other games in the same general genre) is that the side quests peter off at just about the right rate. You’ll never have more side quests on your map than your first trips to Detroit and China, and that slate gets progressively narrower as you advance through the game.

I’m saying i’d like a reward for not incapacitating or killing or alerting anyone during the mission.

I’d rather they not reward you for incapacitating people in the first place, personally.
He’s got a point. Really being unseen would getting in without any trail at all, not even unconscious bodies. The original DE only gave you experience for completing tasks. DE3 says “Completed your mission? That’s good, but you really should go back and hunt everyone in the building down before you’re done.”

FYI, Get Games has the DLC at 25% off, which makes it $11.25. I might go for it at that price.

Ok, I’ve bought the DLC, it’s downloaded, but I have a 1 year old, so won’t be able to get to it until tonight.
If I’m seriously the first person to post a decent set of impressions, I’m going to be very upset at QT3.

Ok, you are all lame, because you’re leaving first impressions up to a 33 year old father of a 1 year old that never has any time to play games.
Anyway, it’s not bad. After a couple hours, I’m probably more than halfway through. It honestly feels like a demo level. The DLC is standalone through the main menu, they come up with an excuse to take your stuff and augs, then give another excuse to give you enough praxis points to buy some of the augs back. Then you go through a linear level with the paths dictated by what augs you took.
It’s basically one more of the linear missions. No boss yet, but I think they’re building up to it.
