Not according to the Deus Ex Wiki - the claim from people who’ve finished the game is that these specific weapons are not present in any other way, aside from the DLC. There is a DIFFERENT sniper rifle, however, but there’s no such replacement for the grenade launcher or shotgun that I know of.

Actually, that shotgun was a crazy old-school double barrel. It was in the beta (so was the sniper rifle). It sounds like that’s pretty stupid then, especially a weapon as unique as the grenade launcher. Wow. sigh I hate pre-order bonuses, especially when they are so punishing.

I HATE HATE HATE HATE the energy bar system…

only the last bar ever regen to full from empty, rest of the bar only will regen if they are not fully empty, they should drop the silly candy bar and just allow energy regen for the entire energy bar. right now the energy augmentation is so useless because of it, either unlock more energy bar which will stay empty or allow energy to regen faster but only affect the last bar.

Someone need to make a mod and allow energy regen for the entire energy bar.

Yeah. The whole thing is fucking ridiculous.

There are some energy bar augments, maybe if you invest in them there is one that lets you recharge fully? I know for sure there are some that expand how many maximum bars you have, and their rate of recharge.

Alternatively, maybe it’s a bug? In the beta I’m PRETTY sure (not positive) that they recharged fully?

nope.

there are 2 lines of the aug for energy.

one for increase your max energy cap, other one just allow you to regen energy faster, but it only apply to the first bar… rest of the bar will recharge only if it’s partially use.

If you have 2 bars, and you use a takedown, your 2nd bar won’t regen, if you use something like see through wall vision, and it only drain half of your 2nd bar, then the 2nd bar will regen.

basically if you want to do something cool like sprint(silent sprint leg aug, energy cost) + cloaking -> takedown, you be munching chocolate every 2 seconds.

Yes, I admit, I whored myself out to Gamestop for the extra mission but anyone have any idea how to access it. I got a code on my purchase receipt with a link to gamestop that then sent to to another like that basically said, “Use the code on your purchase receipt”. Duh, I already know that but WHERE/HOW do I use it? I didn’t see that anywhere. Maybe it’s just staring me in the face but I can’t see it.

In Steam, click the “add a game” button in the lower left corner and then “activate a product on Steam”. Put the code in there.

Do you activate it through steam, maybe? Same as you would have had to do to install DXHR.

This “takedown takes energy which kind of recharges” sounds just as stupid as it felt in the beta. I am sad for this design decision and its caused lack of normal melee :/

I got a ‘product registration card’ in my game with a serial code. I wondering if registering this gets me anything? I’m thinking no, except Square spam.

This reminds me of the old days when games asked you to register and all that nonsense. I can’t say I missed that.

How awesome would it have been to have an “arkham asylum” style hand-to-hand in this game, where when you started to fight it pulled out to the third person view? That could have been fun, especially with augs/weapons to invest in (nano sword!). Ah well.

As it stands, the energy thing is fine with me, though I really don’t like it not recharging all the way to full on its own - seems like a … I just had a thought, I noticed it’s doing that, is it based on the games difficulty? Maybe on normal (where I played in the beta) it DOES recharge all the way?

it’s fine if non-stealth take down cost energy, enemy will struggle, but stealthy takedown should be energy free, basically it’s a reward for playing stealth.

on normal dif it doesn’t recharge to full, maybe on easy.

One of the designers is on the last RolePlayers’ Realm and discusses some of the niceties of how the camera behaves. He also gave me the extremely powerful impression that if you’re killing anybody in this game, you are doing it severely wrong, but maybe that was just his take on it. Between him and this, I believe I’ve decided to try and play it through with no violence on hardest difficulty the first time through.

That’s how I’m doing it so far - it’s incredibly thrilling/fun, and I really enjoy the hacking mini-game so I’ve been going all in on that, which makes stealth extra…intersting, as I can’t cloak or run silently, etc.

edit - that guide is really cool, thanks for passing that along!

Is it possible to avoid killing guys during the intro? And, is it required for the achievement?

The guide Brian linked above indicated it IS possible (and recommended) to avoid killing in the prologue. However, the author wasn’t sure if it was required or not for the achievement - one of those “better safe than sorry” things.

I’ll have to try the prologue again - might be difficult.

This game nails deus ex. Even more than I expected, and I had high hopes going in.

I’m doing my first side mission in the main hub. Going all stealth, non-lethal on hard.

So, I really do have to eat a candy bar after every stealth knockout from behind? Hmm. I sure hope there are a lot if candy bars in this world. Also, in the beginning, I asked for a long range stealth weapon expecting to get a tranq pistol or crossbow. I ended up with a tranq sniper rifle. I was thinking that the choice was between a stun rod and crossbow. Hope I can get a smaller tranq gun soon, the rifle is unwieldy and takes up like 8 slots.

I purchased a stealth aug upgrade that supposedly shows vision cones and all thus other fancy stuff, but I’m seeing none of it. Am I supposed to activate it somehow? And if I do, I’m assuming I’ll have to eat more mars bars afterwords…

Finally, do dropped items persist? Can I leave stuff in my apartment floor and come back for it at any time?

Deus Ex 3 playing-it thread is over there.
