Like butter.

You can sneak past everyone in the prologue, yes.

This is a GAME?! ARGH MY SPOILED EYE BALLS!

Is there any good reason to do that? I saw some mention an achievement associated with it, but is there any in-game reason to do so?

If your intention is to finish the game without killing people, it’s apparently good practice.

I know some people think that’d be fun. Not me.

I just did the first mission without killing anyone and that is enough for me. I’ll play the rest of the game using stealth but leaving a trail of bodies in my wake.

I did that in the first game and Paul still chewed me out for using excessive force.

Should’ve stuck with the prod.

And look where his policy of non-violence got him…

about paul

Safe and sound in Hong Kong? :)

I wonder what the triggers for that are. In my last playthrough a couple of weeks ago, I basically went tranq for most of it, but there were probably five or so guys who went down via the pistol…not to mention me giving said pistol to “I VANTED ORRRRANNGG”. Ended up with the attaboy from from Paul (as opposed to the “well, you killed a lot of people tonight” speech). Guess only a few exploded skulls and turning loose an angry cyborg is nonviolent or something.

I heart Gunter. Who doesn’t want a Skul Gun?

I adore DX3, but I can’t help thinking that it would be immeasurably improved by a better voice actor for the main character. Who thought a gravely monotone was the right choice? Such a bummer, since the rest of the voice acting is quite strong.

Yeah, it’s pretty bad. Also, what the hell is up with his chin? It’s like an icepick!

The voice acting seems to be a dead ringer for Deus Ex. They copied the good and the bad, and I think it’s intentional.

Player character has a gravelly, monotone voice: Check.
Main characters have decent voice talent: Check.
Extras have so-so voice talent: Check.
Oriental characters sound like random people were pulled in off the street to record in a langauge they did not personally know: Check Check Check oh my god Check.

I don’t recall all that much voice in DX1. If JC Denton’s voice was gravelly, I have little memory of it. Adam Jensen, though, jesus. Lighten up a bit there, batman.

Overall, though, I can’t believe I’ve saying this but Skyrim and Portal2 might have real competition for GOTY.

Yes, he sounds almost identical to the guy in the first game.

I love the game although I think the character modeling could definitely use some work. Some of the people in this world look … strange, to say the least.

Jesus, that’s pretty stupid. JC’s voice in the first game is one of the worst things about the entire game. Expounding monotonously on conspiracy theories without being able to inflect a question versus a statement, making one-word answers enough to jar you completely out of the game, etc. Why would you keep that?

FTFY.
