I (strongly) disagree. Aughild’s 15 damage/reduced damage to elites is very good, especially if you have the RoRG since you only need two. Born’s is build dependent (i.e. if you’re looking for cool down reduction) Aeshera’s is also very good as the follower’s CC/healing adds a fair amount of EHP (effective hit points), plus you can equip them with various legendaries for more procs and such. Aeshera’s is by far the easiest to craft (component comes from an always-up mob.) I would add Capt. Crimson’s to the mix for resouce/cooldown reduction. Mixing/matching can be pretty potent, e.g. Aughild’s and two Blackthorn’s will net you +25% elite damage. Set bonuses will be better, but those are much harder to come by. (This is the one area I’ve been lucky as I’m missing only a few crafted plans now.)

Aughilds is a very strong set, Borns can be good in a CDR build. Keep in mind you can keep crafting until you get great stats on them; they’re going to be far superior to lower tier legs or rares. Obviously you want to add in a ring of royal, but you could do far worse while you work towards it.

Dumb question: The legacy Aughild plans dropped for me pre-RoS, can I still find the new ones or am I stuck with a crappy level 42 set? I’m hoping and assuming the former, but with all the weird bugs who knows.

I’m pretty sure they’re completely different sets (Aughild’s Victory and Aughild’s Authority), with different names to each piece. I don’t see any reason why you’d be stuck.

You can find the new ones. It won’t happen quickly unless you’re lucky and there’s nothing you can specifically kill to improve your chances, though.

Yeah, I was looking at the old ones. The 3 piece in the new set is pretty nice, assuming you have a ring.

Odd, sort of newb question. My gaming group beat the game the other night on Hard, opened up Nightmare. With the expansion, is there any way to get to Inferno through the more open world random add on or do we really have to play through the story a number of times to unlock Inferno? Also, apologies if this has already been cleared up, but is there anything firm on an 360 release for the expansion? Thanks.

The old difficulties are out (at least on PC-- I don’t know about console). See info on the new difficulty settings, with unlock requirements, here: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/game/guide/gameplay/game-difficulty

If you have the expansion, beating Act V unlocks adventure mode.

Aughild’s is considered best in slot for pretty much everyone. It’s just a question of which two pieces you use with RoRG. You can’t beat 15% elite damage and 15% elite reduction for two pieces. Check out the top profiles some time; they’re almost all running this set. It’s usually the shoulders, since legendary shoulders tend to not do anything that amazing compared to other slots, and wherever else you can fit the second piece with the least sacrifice depending on your build.

You don’t see a lot of Born’s though; it’s just too hard to fit without giving up other, better bonuses if you have good gear.

The RNG is hating me on Aughild’s; the last 4 pieces I’ve crafted have been astoundingly bad. No main stat on a single one of them, and filled with stats that don’t do a thing for my build. It’s a bit tedious to farm that mat, so grumble grumble.

Much sympathy. I’ve been making helms (to improve one I’ve made and use.) I want two of Int/Crit Chance/Spell. Haven’t gotten that once in 16 attempts. And getting the components is a royal pita - for some reason it doesn’t seem to drop as regularly as others at the same torment level (I’ve been doing T3), and the rare ghosts don’t show up often for bounties. Been trying the Caldeum sewer without much luck - although I’ve managed to get quite a bit for Captain Crimson’s (where previously I had none.)

I just kept creating new games and checking for the Act I and Act II bounties with ghosts. No ghost bounties=exit and recreate. It usually takes no more than a couple minutes to roll a game with 1 or 2 of the appropriate bounties. The Act I bounties are particularly fast to run. I think I got 2-3 of mats per hour doing this. I frankly was more limited by forgotten souls.

I went shoulders and bracers, myself. Took a couple tries and some visits to the mystic for both, but I’m happy with the results.

Hmmm…

I’m really trying to take advantage of my RRoG now, and I’m mixing sets like crazy. It means I’ve given up a bit in terms of adding +elemental%, but I think it might be worth it? Can anyone venture any opinions on what I’m trying? Is my lack of focus really hurting me? I’ve been lucky enough to get the plans or pieces from a lot of diverse sets, plus a RRoG, but it certainly leads to an eclectic build. I’m using that 2 hander because it’s the only other Immortal King item I have, I really did prefer to have 2 one handed weapons, especially because one was a well-rolled Thunderfury.

At the moment, I’ve got sets that are (effectively due to RRoG): Immortal King 3 item bonus (can’t wait for 4!), Aughild’s full 3 item bonus, Asheara’s 3 item bonus (won’t be trying for 4, my followers suck, and I need to reroll a new pair of pants to get 2 slots + helpful skill dmg), Blackthorne’s 3 item bonus (could actually have 4, picked up the boots, but don’t think it’s worth giving up one of the others), and finally Raekor’s 2 item bonus.

I REALLY like the 4 piece bonus in Asheara’s, but I’d like it even more if I could find the items to unlock all follower skills. Having the Templar show up to cast his abilities is no joke, and my Scoundrel has that OP freezy crossbow, so I can feel the impact when they arrive.

Diablo (the boss) had a pretty great AI fit last night when they showed up. He started stuttering about turning from one to another not doing anything.

Yeah on my Asheara wearing character my Templar has the leg that gives him all skills. On another character I have a Templar with item that makes him invulnerable, that also is super useful as he’s always up to cast heals.

Having the follower equip the legendary that prevents death plus the unity right and one on yourself means you take half damage all the time.

If I manage to get my hands on a second Unity, I will try this; I picked up the Scoundrel token that prevents death, but I only have 1 Unity at the moment. I wouldn’t bother with Asheara’s and this, though. I’d only do this in solo games, with the Scoundrel as my follower.

Yeah I’m looking for my second Unity as well.

Don’t you end up taking 50% of the damage dealt to you follower, though? I thought the follower legendary prevents death, not damage.
