Hah, finally succeeded last night in getting a Hardcore character through the entire campaign on Hard…I was rather scared when I suddenly saw I couldn’t change the difficulty, because Maltheel is…rather difficult at times, compared to the other bosses, but I managed. But now - Paragon time, even though I’m rather scared at getting a character to lvl 70 without dying, but my wizard is doing pretty good.
Grats! You’re a braver man than I. I went thru the entire campaign on normal, just to be quick about it. You shouldn’t have much difficulty with bounties and rifts on hard. I think I only had one real panic moment getting my crusader up to 70 in a hard rift, where I pulled in succession 2 champion packs and 1 elite, and got backed into a corner. The game cranks up the nastiness a bit after you hit level 60, so keep the survivability skills handy just in case.
Couple of stupid questions:
-
How is General chat working in this game?
I see comments / lines from people sometimes when playing but not constantly.
When I shift click their names to find out what class / paragon level they are on and where they are currently (like I’m used from WoW) I got a total different person’s information…
Would be nice to have chat constantly running to beat dull passages in the campaign like in WoW.
-
What do these pre-fixes / suffixes of people mean <BLAH>. Are they status updates like DND or are they “guild” tags?
-
How can I LEAVE a chat? I accidentally joined a Demon Hunter and Wizard chat which are both dead (2-4 people in there max).
-
I did restart the game on Torment I (currently at Diablo) because I read that Act bosses will drop legendaries again that way but they don’t.
I got a couple drops but never from any boss.
Is my information old / incorrect? I noticed that some information seems outdated since Loot 2.0 hit (for example I found a list of 275 legendaries that my found legendaries are not on).

Last question for now I promise :) :
How do I “reset” games to try to farm a special rare / boss / area?
I got the Infernal machine plans and might want to slap the Keywardens around for fun for a few times.
Thank you :)
I believe the prefixes are clan names, yes.
Act bosses drop guaranteed legendaries on characters under level 60 after resetting quests. Once you’re level 60 or higher, only Malthael will drop a guaranteed legendary.
You reset quests through the change game type screen. You don’t need to do it unless you plan on playing through the entire campaign again.
I’ve hit something of a plateau after 70 on Hardcore. I can get 2-300k damage and 5-6million toughness ok, but getting more DPS seems hard. I can do Master fine, Hard is a breeze, but Torment I is pretty much slooooow to impossible. Would going to max level gems help? Those will cost me an arm and a leg, but other than that, I got nothing.
What class? 2-300K DPS isn’t horrible for a hardcore character favoring toughness, though admittedly your toughness isn’t remarkable, either. For DPS, I’d suggest aiming for +crit chance and +crit damage as the easiest way to raise.
Hard to really say without looking at your gear, but a couple of things I did.
-
Farm bounties on normal for act only legendarys. (There are quite a few of these that are very very good, and will drop in normal mode, like ring of royal grandeur for example)
-
Farm bounties on normal for rare mob mat drops for crafting. Auglids set is a good example. 3 set bonus gives you 15% damage to elites, as well as 15% less damage taken from elites.
I did those two things until I could safely and easily farm T1, didn’t take too long and ended up with 11 mil toughness, and 650kish damage before I even set foot in T1. This is sort of my modus operandi for all my characters, HC or not, as it seems to be the quickest way to gear up to farm torment levels.

Build around your Serpent’s Sparker, which is awesome and easily your best item–I’d gamble up a Magistrate and Mirrorball and go for a frost hydra/glacial spike/blizzard build.
Nothing about your gear that says fire/meteor (no magefist/cindercoat/soj) to me; I personally find meteor underwhelming anyway.
Sheesh… 5-6M Toughness? I’ve got a loooong journey to torment then. I’ve been 70 for a few days, and have about 500-600K. Granted, I still have a few pieces of pre-70 gear to replace. I guess on the bright side I’m already at 250K sheet DPS. “The Final Witness” shield opened some interesting skills I hadn’t used much since the early leveling process. 360 degree shield glare that basically immobilizes everyone around you for 4 seconds and either gives you 20% more damage or fills your wrath depending on the rune is pretty nifty.
Moar legendaries with special affixes, Blizzard. Just about anything else is crafting material as far as I’m concerned.

So, dumb questions, but if I’m currently level 63 (I made sure I was 61 for the reaper’s wrap drop) and starting doing some adventure mode missions, should I save all the caches and blood shards until I am 70? Will I get better gear off them that way? Also, the only gambling is using the shards for items, right?
Save shards but not caches. Caches are rolled when they appear in your inventory and won’t level up with you. And since you can only accumulate a max of 500 shards, you may have to spend them before you hit 70 (since they’ll be wasted otherwise).
I don’t know why people call using shards gambling as that is literally the only thing you can do with them. No real risk/reward factor there. The real gambling is the enchantress as you can spend millions and dozens or more souls and still not get the affix you’re looking for.
Holdover lingo from D2. That was the only real gold sink, so it’s roughly analogous.

Is there any way to easily autojoin the QT3 Community chat or assign the chat channel a number instead of having to click it each time?

Thanks to those who have been running act 3 bounties with me in hopes of getting a Pride’s Fall. I only get a couple hours a night to play, so any help is greatly appreciated! Have had 4-5 of the 7 total act 3 legs drop from caches thus far, but not the helm, heh. Of course! Sucks that the other acts have fewer cache legs and therefore better chances for target legs.
Not that I know of. So you’re stuck joining it every time you log on.
But nobody is ever in the chat. I usually forget to join a lot too mainly because of the lack of people in the chat. I’ll check the member/roster list and see 5 or more people on but nobody is actually on the chat. Kind of annoying that there is no way to auto login to that.
Is Pride’s Fall really that great? I mean I guess it depends on the class since you’ll need to avoid getting hit. But now that I have the RRoG I’m mixing and matching like 3 different sets so I have no room to use Pride’s Fall. I was thinking of giving it to my crusader but he’s rarely in need of wrath and his current headpiece has better dps.
Once Dark Souls 2 loosens its iron grip on every second of my game time I’d love to plow through some rifts and bounties with people.
Yes, exactly. It’s pretty great for ranged specs, particularly in multiplayer. Not so much for melee.
Crusaders can be ranged, but if you have plenty of resources all the time you don’t need it.
