Or just raise-remove the characters slots entirely, since they said season characters/stashes/XP/money would get moved to normal once the season ends.

Kinda curious to see how it shakes out. Looking at that little preview I’m looking forward to the new content but I’m not sure I’m going to bother playing in the seasons. Kinda sounds like they aren’t doing enough to make it worthwhile compared to something like PoE. I think D3’s a far better laid back monster clicker than PoE but currently it seems like they aren’t doing enough to compete if you want ladder/season clicking.
And I definitely don’t want to give the impression I’m all doom and gloom over it, I’m looking forward to the changes and the new content, just not convinced seasons will really be worth a damn.

this update is so awesome, I’m seeing so many tone arms

Hey guys, I’ve got a few questions about the PS3 version of Diablo.

My buddy and I are playing co-op, and tonight we were consistently slaughtered by the goat guys. At first I thought it was just a one-off difficult spike, but looking through my inventory I see that a lot of my gear is like, 8 levels out of date. Simply not many items drop, and those that do are rarely good.

So… what’s the best way to get real items? All the merchants sell junk; the blacksmith seems like my best bet. But his upgrade tree doesn’t solve the problem, exactly, since not every item type is levelled at once.

Are there any other mechanisms I’m not aware of? Like… I’ve got 18k gold, what can I spend it on besides constant repairs? And can I do anything with the white items besides sell them for 3g?

Lemme know if my only option is to bump down the difficulty.

Blacksmith is your best bet, but there will still be gaps where the gear doesn’t keep up and things will get rough.

Could also a be a difficulty issue since the two issues can conspire at certain points to just destroy you.

And sometimes you just need to rethink your gear and skill choice. There were plenty of times I had to re-evaluate my skills and gear to overcome difficulty spikes. A skill you think is rubbish and pointless at 20 all of a sudden becomes key for survivability at 40.

I’m thinking about buying Diablo 3, and I’m a little confused about the expansion pack. Is the base game 39 dollars, and then you buy the expansion for an additional 39? Or if you buy the base game does it come with the expansion? $39 seems really fucking steep for an expansion…

I paid $20 for the main game and $40 for the expansion just after it was released. So in other words $60 for both.

The expansion was/is way too pricey. Act V is very content light and the rest of the changes should have been included in patch to the main game (and maybe are, I dont know).

Not especially happy about the OWE change if Blizz wanted people to use other skills they could just boost them rather than nerf this.

That OWE change means all my legendary gear will need to be replaced or re-enchanted (for more gold than I have).
Damn.

They’re probably banking on people starting over in ladder season. If there was ever a good time for such sweeping changes, that is probably it.

I play exclusively hardcore mode and I’ve been trying for some time to break into torment difficulty and still retain some measure of survivability. I’m currently level 70 and playing on Master difficulty. For those of you that are already playing Torment, what is your toughness/damage and does anyone have any tips to help me survive? :)

Yep, I’m guessing that each ladder season will also feature the major re-designs. It makes sense. In between patches will just be to get rid of exploits or nudge numbers a few % this way or that.

If they were smart they will be using ladders for testing changes. It would also be cool if they massively altered some skills for a ladder just to see if it altered builds and playstyles, then return it to normal after the season. ie This season is all ranged - certain ranged skills from all classes are dramatically buffed, with a boosted drop rate of supporting drop affixes/legendaries!

Dunno. I am in the same boat. I can do Master but then I plateau.

Depends on the class, somewhat. 8-10M toughness and 400k dps is enough for a Crusader in T1. In general if you can craft pieces from lvl 70 plans and have a decent socketed weapon, you should be able to do T1

I got a Barb to 70 and then a Demon Hunter. They are both sitting around 400K DPS and 9 mil toughness. Solo, I can do T2 easily with them. I can do T3 but it requires a lot more caution and is generally not fun because of that. I have not tried T4 with either.

I made the jump to T2 pretty easy, basically within a few hours of hitting 70 I had the gear I needed to survive there. I have had a lot more trouble getting from T2 to T3. As in, I might get a clear gear upgrade every 5 hours or so, but nothing game changing. Even things that I thought might be game changing, the 4 piece set bonus from the DH Marauder’s set, for example, which summons all pets instead of just one, have not really made a huge impact for me. I play on T1 if I am solo just because I don’t really have to worry about dying. If I have a friend we do T2. If we have a full party we do T3.

So the 2.1 PTR is live now. Anyone take the plunge?

The Patch Notes

Mostly positive changes, I think, especially for the Demon Hunters and Monks.

The Greater Rifts seem like a fun thing for the softcore players, but guaranteed suicide for hardcore, unless I’m missing something.

OK, some questions for you Diablo players…

I’m ready to make the plunge, since it seems like the expansion fixed a lot of issues with the base game and it’s worth playing now. Some questions…

Is there a full version of the game (ie, base + reaper of souls), or do I need to buy each separately?

Since there doesn’t appear to be a Steam version, what’s the best place to get the digital version from?

To get it digitally, probably your best bet is just from Blizzard. That’s how I went. You might be able to get it cheaper in physical form from somewhere else, and you can usually link your key with Battle.net to then just download. I don’t think there is a single version, but if you buy from Blizzard they will likely give you the option of getting both at something of a discount (they did at least for me when I purchased them digitally). But it isn’t usually a listed option, and only came up for me when I went to purchase them.
