I think I need to read up on the patchnotes then - I haven’t because I don’t use the PC anymore and this patch hasn’t arrived yet on the consoles - thanks for the great info, though!

On patch day I found a Greater Riftstone Fragment (if that’s what they’re called), and was mystified by the first foray in, it was like a 40 second fight and then it spat me out, so I clicked again, and the rank 2 greater rift was more like it. So I thought ‘neat’. Then I went and did a few bounties and found a couple goblins, first kill and I found the Vault. Super neat! (I play only on Torment I so it was about 25 million gold.). So then I had the legendary gem of raining gold (Boon of the Hoarder?), and I went into a greater rift and was like, oh neat I can upgrade it, so I chose that one. Didn’t know that would eat my Greater Fragment, but I get it.

Since then have spent two days and 19 rift fragments trying to find another Greater fragment. Not happy.

That’s exactly it. Seasons give people a reason to return to the game and level fresh characters.

Problem is that D3 seasons aren’t much different than normal play. They offer a couple extra legendary items and special leaderboards/achievements, but it’s still the exact same game. Path of Exile Leagues do a much better job. They modify the game in neat little ways to keep it fresh.

I almost expect that future seasons will see rule tweaks, emulating what the PoE guys are doing. Maybe not so much new content, beyond a few legendary items, as they lack the monetisation strategy of GGG. Right now Blizz just needed to launch seasons to drive renewed interest, which seems to be working.

Would be nice to see a few more changes to Season.

Was disappointed to see that the double goblins disappeared yesterday…

I was paragon level 35 before I got my first grift fragment :\

“The drop rate for Bounty-specific Legendaries has been drastically increased and scales based on game difficulty (9/3)”

Great news, this was a point of contention I had with seasons. Farming up a RoRG is not fun.

Did this occur yesterday? They hotfixed the drop rate well up. Rift Trialstones drop 100% on T6, but quite a bit more often on lower difficulties than they used to.

Yeah, I started a Crusader in Season mode, but only because I hadn’t played one yet and why not? If I’d already tried out all the classes, I would have zero interest in the mode.

By the way, I went through the Qt3 membership applications yesterday and approved as many as I could. We’re at our limit of members, so there may not be any approvals for a while - at least until a few folks leave.

Leave? I thought once you were in the only way to leave was in a wooden box ;)

Is there any way to get greater rift fragments outside of Torment levels? Because doing solo HC, I can’t see any way I’ll ever even grind T1.

Sure you will. In another roughly 5 hours of play you will find torment 1 stupefyingly easy.

Um, no. I have four 70 HC characters–WD, Wiz, Crusader, DH–and I have never been able to last more than half an encounter in T1, solo. None of my characters have the DPS to burn down mobs before getting immobilized and taking massive damage at that level. The problem seems to be no matter how many times I run rifts at even Master level, I can’t get good enough drops–never seen any of the stuff people talk about for end game builds, which apparently only drops in higher difficulty levels–or even enough money to make the top end gems–I have about 4 million gold.

I can see that SC characters find T1 easy, but if anyone plays HC solo and finds T1 easy, please tell me what to do to get to that level…

You can gear up to 500k+ DPS from primarily rare (yellow) drops, if you follow the guidelines in this thread. 500k DPS will obliterate torment1.

This is a great change. Its allegedly a 100% drop on T6? Not a RORG specifically but an Act specific legendary from a cache?

I can confirm that all t6 bounties drop 100% from their act loot list. I believe there are 4-5 items per act, though. Still, it’s a 20ish% chance for a RoRG now, as opposed to the… I want to say less than 2% it was.

The day I can sensibly remove Ring of Royal Grandeur from my build without causing a catastrophic set item failure conflicting with an essential item to my build will be the day I weep for joy. Look at its base rolls… Primary/Attack Speed(worst dps stat, but i guess not slit slashingly horrible)/LoH(useless)/+1 (heavily weighted towards vit/allres/life%). It’s so awful it hurts. No one would use a garbage-can ring that bad if it didn’t have its unique affix. But you just have to hold out hope that one day, against all odds, you will roll one with 6% crit or even better, 50% crit damage.

If anyone here does not understand why, please refer to an ancient post of mine about how rings/ammies are for dps, and actually where a massive amount of where it comes from. Hence why blizzard put legendary gems into ammy/ring slots. Belts/shoulders/chests/boots (if you dont have enough paragon to max movement without them) are the best place you should be getting toughness from.

If a handful of people show interest, I’ll do an updated guide to RoS gearing, including my original post but revising it for the current patch, where +elementaltype damage is far more important than it has been in the past. Edited to add: If anyone does show interest, please tell me what you would like to see the most coverage on. Initial 70 gearing with rares (you’re making the most of it for a bit here!), why certain slots have better affixes that you need to aim for, gemming (and why your primary stat is not always the best gem), item’s initial rolls when you get them, and why you need to pay close attention to them, planning for the endgame, and how you need to use the mystic to “win” at diablo are some ideas.

Speaking for myself, I’d love to see an updated post Shockmesane. My season wizard is closing in on 70 and I feel like my barb is just stuck at 400k Damage and 4m toughness. Which I’m sure is just me gearing wrong.

Maybe for you. I’ve not been able to stay alive in T1 with 6m toughness and 4-500k dps. I haven’t tried since the last patch though, nor have I tried on anything but my WD. Again, I’m not sure if you’re playing HC or not, because I am pretty risk sensitive in HC and tend towards heavy life/healing. In SC DPS > all, but I haven’t found a happy medium in HC at the high end for a solo build.
