When you get stronger, you’ll have no problems with bounties. It’s easy to clear a whole act’s worth in 15 minutes or less with an end-game build.

If it’s taking you longer than 15 mins to do an entire act’s bounties you should take the difficulty down a notch.

So that’s 15 minutes for all the bounties in 1 act? Yeah I cant do that

I used to think I was pretty reasonably good at D3, but the new Seasonal Leaderboard shows how average I really am. The Leaderboard shows that within 11 hours of the time that the Season started, there were already ONE THOUSAND Hardcore Level 70 characters. Meanwhile, my first Seasonal HC character (WD) died at L67 after 15+ hours of play time last week. I can’t even blame lag either…I just got complacent doing a bounty in the A3 Battlefields and ended up surrounded with Spirit Walk on cooldown.

I don’t even have a HC L70 yet. I’m using this as a chance to try a Wizard with skills I’ve never used before (e.g. Wave of Force).

I don’t think I could play SC for very long without getting bored out of my mind. I bought the game on day 1 back in 2012, yet I’ve never even killed Belial in SC mode.

I got my Seasonal HC Wiz to 70, and went to Kedala. Within a few shards (I only had like 113) I got two pieces of Firebird’s set, pants and gloves. First time I’ve gotten anything useful from her.

You’ve all been so much help so I really appreciate the advice but there’s still some things I just don’t get. Like my Crusader cannot find anything to make his build any better (not good drops and don[t have the items for playing skill roulette) and I’m stuck at 200k damage. Slogging through Torment Level 1 is slow and awful. It’s painful and at the rate I’m going I can’t ever imagine it being easier, better, or hitting Torment Level 2 as I just don’t seem to be understanding stuff or getting anything that is better than my current armor. If someone could maybe point me to a few skill-sets that might work with lamer stats like mine with non-specific gear that would be great. Any time I switch out of my mode for killing anything other than basic creatures, it then takes me forever to kill off a large mob. So what is a good set of skills to use for quikcly clearing large mobs but will also still allow me to take out elite monsters? Also, from the posts on equipping… am I reading this right as to what I should be aiming for on each piece?

Head: Str, Vit, Crit Hit %, Armor, Gem Slot = Reduce Cooldown
Shoulders: Str, Vit, Crit Hit %, Armor
Chest: Str, Vit, Crit Hit %, Armor, Gem Slot = 3 Resistance Gems
Belt: Str, Vit, Crit Hit %, Armor
Gloves: Str, Vit, Crit Hit %, Armor
Pants: Str, Vit, Crit Hit %, Armor, Gem Slots= 2 Resistance Gems
Boots: Str, Vit, Crit Hit %, Armor, Speed Increase
Amulet: Str, Vit, Crit Hit Damage, (other stuff ?)
Rings: Str, Vit, Crit Hit Damage, (other stuff ?)
Weapon: Str, Vit, Crit Hit %, Attack Speed, Gem Slot = Critical Hit Damage
Shield: Str, Vit, Crit Hit %, Armor, (other stuff ?)

Basically hit me up in game (Meleketh) and we can go through your gear together if you like. As for builds, Crusader isn’t really my favorite class. I imagine most of the leaderboard guys use the whole chaining conviction with some of the legendary weapons. If that is difficult to schedule, I’d just sit down with my list in front of you and make note of what *'s I placed as mandatory next to each gear slot. If you actually make a list of what needs replacing, and what can be “mystic’d” into something more usable, you should be able to hit at least 500-600k dps with no fancy gear whatsoever. I mean, literally without a single legendary it is doable.

Once you’ve made the list to see which items are usable with the Mystic’s help, then I would just start using Kadala to fill in the slots where you still have highly replaceable gear, starting with the 5 shard items first and moving up.

I stand by my statement from awhile back that with mostly perfect rare gear you should be able to hit 1m paper doll dps without much effort (or luck) involved. The worst will be finding the trifecta rings.

OK… starting to make a bit more sense. After spending a lot of time at the Mystic looking at what I can change I see why you said you need 4 primary attributes on each item. One thing I wanted to confirm. Did you state that everything… including Rings & Amulet had to have Strength for the Crusader?

Also if a person has to decide: Life % vs. Life per hit vs. Armor vs. Resist Elements… which is the way to go of you already have 70% Resistance and kinda decent armor? I’m seriously almost getting this!!

Yes, one of the four primary attributes will be strength for the crusader. I mean, there are probably certain situations where if you rolled an amulet with +% attack speed,+%crit chance, and +% crit damage, you’d probably come out ahead with +elemental damage over strength. This is both situational and frankly, fairly unlikely to happen. Because Strength adds armor and is the first multiplier on your damage, it’s pretty much always a solid choice. So a good rule of thumb is to just take Strength and then 3 other attributes, depending on the piece of gear in question. Consult this list for what I feel are the three other affixes you should be aiming for.

Unless you are playing hardcore, I find Life on Hit and Life per Second to be almost completely irrelevant stats. You are better off simply having a better toughness pool to pull you through to your next health orb drops. Whether armor, all resists, vitality, or life% are your best defensive stat is going to be completely dependent on the relative values of each stat, as all resist, armor and life% are all mathematically related.

I believe someone upthread posted a link that could help you max out your defensive stats. Otherwise, simply move around a few paragon points and check your relative toughness. It should be easy to get a good feeling for which stat is currently most valuable to you.

Doc! It hurts when I run T1! :D

Do normal rifts until you get a decent weapon or a couple pieces that’ll bump you into T1, it doesn’t take much. Socket Imperial rubies until you can upgrade them. If you’re running softcore just worry about increasing damage.

Thanks to this post, I realize that I’ve been attempting to level up “wrong” the whole time. My L 49 Wizard can’t come close to clearing out all the bounties in an act in 15 minutes in “Master” mode.

My philosophy was to always play at the highest difficulty level that I felt “safe” playing, but I just tried dropping down to Expert level to try to clear all the A1 bounties in 15 mins. I was pretty surprised to see how much the increased clearing speed translated into faster leveling even at the lower difficulty level.

Still, knowing that I can play at a higher level, it’s going to be hard to convince myself that I should be playing at a lower level.

It also improves drop rate, which in turn improves chances of finding good upgrades, particularly while levelling. It can change when you get to 70 and are chasing certain drops or qualities which have improved rates at higher difficulties.

I would have to disagree with this bit about LoH and LpS being irrelevant. You need to find a good balance for yourself. I generally avoid more VIT than healing as having 700K HP does nothing for you if it’s half empty all the time. I find 300-350K HP to be the sweet spot and go for All Resist after that. Maybe if you have enough paragon points you can use those for max LoH and LpS but that’s going to be much later. Anyways, it’s really all a balancing act of getting all your stats in the sweet spot which you’ll learn what’s best and what’s not as you play.

Or which only drop on Torment 1 or better at level 70, like the critical class specific sets. When you start looking for those, it can make sense to level a bit slower in order to have a chance at drops that will transform your character. Not before that, though.

The drop rate of Leoric’s Regret, Vial of Putridness, Idol of Terror, and Heart of Evil has been increased on Torment I and above, to a maximum of 100% on Torment VI (9/9)

Dear lord, and now the grind for a truly great Hellfire Amulet begins (as a free passive slot is better than any other amulet affixes in the game I can think of.

Wowzers. My grind for organs yesterday was rather frustrating due to somewhat below average drops. I decided not to repeat the process until I wanted to do it just for variety, but I think I’ll be ramping up a lot now. We should get some uber parties going.

I found out something that blew me away yesterday! I watched a video of someone who claimed he cleaned the floor with his new Crusader build. As I started watching I saw he had insane gear and I almost stopped… but was confused as I saw Heaven’s Fury in his right mouse button slot. I’d seen a setting in the options for more skill customization but I thought that just let you re-order the skill slots so you could click them in a different order. So when I checked that a went back it blew me away! This is an entirely different game now. I used his build and am doing way more damage, but I had to give up all my mobility for it to work. What is weird though is Heaven’s Fury doesn’t work like it normally does when in the secondary attack slot. It kinda shoots it in a line instead of coming down from Heaven. But I can get through crowds of mobs much better now on Torment Level 1. So is this what everyone has been doing all along to get better DPS besdies Shock’s guide?

Is there some kind of auto-attack for mouse button #1? My wrist, thumb, fingers, and palm are turning into gnarled chunks from holding that mouse button #1 down with so much force all the time. This game is terrible for carpal tunnel.

That’s not the slot but the rune, it’s the last rune for Heaven’s Fury, and is key to the holy shotgun build. You pair it with the flail that gives you three beams.

I think Shield Bash with Roland’s set might be as/more effective with 2.1.

I looked up shotgun build and that is a bit different than what I’m using but gives me a really neat alternate idea that might work better than what I’m using now for skills. This is the video I used for reference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Srf_BxzNppY Because I am so low on crit hit chance I had to sacrifice the wrath regen for crit on one of the skills. I have the set in the same order as he does, so basically when I go up against a big mob I click 1,2,3,4 super fast together and slash away. As my wrath hits 2/3 full I release a series of Heaven’s Fury hits in a row, then go back to slashing and hitting whatever skill is available as soon as it is ready since Akararet takes so stupid long to be available again.

Does QT3 have a guild for this? If so, can I join? My ID on Battle.net is “jpinard” if any of you would like to friend me. Right now my only 2 friends are my Mom and my Uncle and they haven’t been on Battle.net in 2 years.
