That’s a neat chart, and it nicely explains why I can’t pass level 32 solo on a GR yet. You have to have the best of the best to get near the leader board levels, and I fall short. T6 I can do, but GR 33+? Fail.

Man I fucking hate blood shards and Kadala. They really need to add a mechanic where you can get what you want for a fixed cost of shards. I mean you still would have to deal with the RNG and how the item rolls but goddamn the current system sucks ass. I have been trying to get a Stone of Jordan since the patch and 70 paragon levels later, and however many shards and rifts and Grfits that is, no dice. I swear in the 10s of thousands of shards I have spent I have gotten maybe 1-2 upgrades, and probably stuff that has since been replaced with a drop.

Yet I get Stone of Jordan straight away from a bounty, it’s all just luck. You know I play Puzzles and Dragons on ios and I needed a specific creature to round a team out and it took 4 months of doing the dungeon over and over before it dropped so I feel your pain.

Jeff I just did my first Greater Rift.
I did the first bit and it gave me a level 9 GR. So i entered and did it with 2mins 40 seconds to go.
I got 4 legendary items, 2 gems and gauntlets and a chest piece. The chest was for a Crusader bu the Gauntlets were excellent.
The gems are ok, 1 spreads damage over 3.0 seconds instead of all at once the otehr is bane of teh powerful which increase damage after killing elites
Is it just luck to get a socket added as it seems most don’t come with one and is it important to get them socketed or use my resource for other equipment first.
Also got 2 set plans Captain Crimson and Cain’s. I don’t have RROG yet but are sets preferred.

Again, if you are looking for gear you should town portal as soon as the trial starts so you get a GR1 key.

For a tank class like Crusader or Barbarian, what is the preferred level of resistances? I’m trying to balance my “resist all” gems vs. strength gems. Thanks!
BTW - had great fun with AMadchen, Rowe33, & Shock (Mek) last night. Was intense and extremely rewarding!

Do you get teh same drops from GR1 against GR9 say?

The good thing about GR34+ is that pretty much everything will insta-kill you, so you can just stack for optimal dps since your health/resistance is meaningless at that point.
Thanks to insane scaling of damage from jailers, frozen and whatnot all the enemy skills pretty much oneshots you.

You will quickly collect all the legendary gems as you complete more GRs. They aren’t rare at all so if you don’t like what you have, well, don’t fret too much.
Note their secondary effect that is unlocked at gem level 25 as well. If you’re just starting out then it’ll probably be a while until you unlock that stuff but it’s something to look forward to.
Sockets are luck, yes. Whether it comes with one or whether you use the enchanter to reroll a stat over to a socket. This can be difficult, again, if you’re just starting out. Whereas I have hundreds of forgotten souls and a huge pile of money now, I remember when I had to painstakingly farm legendaries to reroll stats on my items so I could do harder and harder content. It’s just part of the whole progress system.
Sockets are important, yes. If you won’t be unlocking legendary gem secondary effects anytime soon then I’d say it’s a bit less important. Look at the bonus you’d be getting, how much it’d increase your DPS and whether it’s worth sinking your limited resources into rerolling for it. You’ll be making these judgment calls a lot over time so now is as good a time as any to start.
Additionally, I’d recommend looking up the best gems for your class right now so you don’t waste precious gem levels on something you won’t be using longterm.
Last but not least: keep an eye out for Unity rings (splits damage between wearers of the rings) and legendary follower relics. You’ll want two of the Unity rings and the Your follower cannot die relic, which will allow you to equip a ring yourself and put a ring + relic on your follower to reduce damage taken by 50% (your follower won’t take damage at all). Most classes need these, even if it isn’t right away. I don’t know if there is a class who doesn’t use this setup to progress in end game but if you happen to play a class that doesn’t, it’s a sure bet that an alt character will. I wish someone had told me this when I first hit 70.

Excellent, just what I wanted, thanks very much.
Was there any progress on clearing up space in the clan?

I suggest someone with the power to invite/kick create a new D3 clan thread or use this thread to request that those in the clan who wish to remain in the clan reply to the thread. Give it week. Those that don’t reply are subject to being kicked to make room for active non-clan members. This would weed out those who aren’t actively playing/interested.

I sent a PM to the leader / officer but got nothing back. We are showing 149 members so someone has quit somewhen recently.

As a barb, it’s the magic that will kill you the vast majority of the time, so resistances are critical. I’d recommend only using diamonds in your chest and pants sockets, and if you are able to use Battle Cry - Impunity, you should. I’d aim for 900 - 1000 before the Impunity boost, if you’re looking to survive in higher Torment levels for any significant amount of time.

Also, bear in mind that if you find a piece of jewellery with great stats but no sockets, you don’t have to reroll one of those stats. You can add a socket to it with Ramaladni’s Gift, which is a legendary single-use drop (not sure how rare - one dropped very early post-patch for me, and I haven’t seen one since).

Isn’t gift for weapons only?

Yeah, they changed that on PTR, else I wouldn’t have a pile of the things. :(

Yep, designed solely to address the fact that weapons without sockets are worthless, regardless of all their other affixes and rolls.
Edit - didn’t realise they worked on more items in the PTR.
Ah, that’s a bummer. I used mine on a weapon as at the time I had no end-game jewellery (other than a crappy stats Unity with no pair or invulnerable follower). Didn’t realise you couldn’t use it on anything else.

So I just got this game this weekend for Xbox 360 and it feels pretty solid so far. It’s awfully dark though. For some reason it doesn’t have it’s hooks quite into me like the first two did. I’m a wizard.
I have a couple of newbie questions I didn’t see in the manual or my searches online.
-
When you have a weapon equipped, when do you use it? I have a big axe equiped but never see my character use it. Same if I use a bow. My ranged attacks (magic missile) seems to shoot out but my weapon doesn’t swing/bow doesn’t shoot.
-
Is there any way to switch classes mid game, or do I have to start completely over in order to try out a new character?
I’m only on the Skeleton King right now, I have not met him yet, that’s my next quest.
