Yeah i wasleve 60 ish afer completing the whole storyline including reapers, it was much easier to get to 70 on bounties rather than doing the storyline again.

Thus the “if you haven’t completed the storyline yet” qualifier. If you gave up somewhere in act 1-3 at launch, then you can jump back in and see everything new except the crusader. If you’ve finished act 4, you should pick up the expansion.

Well if you want to see if you like the changes or start again its true you are ok for 20 hours or so of play time but if you are in the later acts you wont have m uch to go. Before you could do with the add on and extra content. Personally if i got to act 4 and finished it without the add on I would have just quit playing.

I feel like something is wrong with me, because I’m just not loving this game. It seems to have caused quite a stir around here though, so I am trying to give it a chance.

I don’t really have complaints or criticisms, there are just things that bug me enough to not fall head over heads for the game. But here are some thoughts:

  1. Everything is really dark. Add to this the fact that it outlines in red your current target and it feels like I’m playing whack a mole in the dark. Or GRAW back in the day when they highlighted every enemy. I’m not sure I love this.

  2. With my character, the sorceress, I have to shoot everytthing when it first appears slightly on screen. Then I pour it on and kite back if it’s a group or tough monster. There seems to be a LOT of kiting in this game. I define kiting as moving backwards while shooting, though you can’t actually do that in this game, so it’s more like “roll roll roll shoot”. “Roll roll roll shoot”. Maybe other classes are different.

  3. Maybe it’s the 360 version, but the graphics are … “meh”. Some of the monsters, like the big fat guys who blow up, have cool animations, but most of them are dark and undistinct.

  4. Do the monsters ever change tactics from “run straight at you and attack”? The teleporters do a bit more, but everything else seems to just swarm charge in. Maybe the monsters get more clever later.

Overall I want to like it. The atmosphere is pretty cool, the controls are tight. I’m not really sure why it’s not grabbing me. It feels maybe … a little too old school? I kinda wish you could interact with the environment more, or something. Not sure what it is.

Try a few different classes. I did and some work and some don’t. I really like the Monk because it suits my play style, in rpgs I like Hunters or kill from distance toons but it doesnt click for me in D3. Turn the light up, I hate it when games look too dark.

One thing that is tough is the end game is actually a lot of fun but moving through the story can be sort of meh, also can you play coop with friends, that is way more fun.

  1. Act 1 is pretty dark, but most of the rest of the game isn’t, or is only for fairly short sections.

  2. Yes, ranged classes have to do a lot of kiting. If you don’t want that, play a melee class.

  3. I’m not too enamoured of the monster art either, but the backgrounds can be really cool with lots of incidental destructibility and cool little details that you only notice on your 50th run through a tileset.

  4. The tactics don’t get particularly sophisticated, no, but at higher difficulties the number of affixes on elite mobs increases and creates challenging combinations - that’s where the combat variety comes from.

IMO the rifts become rediculously dark when the rift monster spawns. Couple that with everyone’s spells going off and it turns into can’t see shit captain fest where I frequently lose sight of my mouse pointer. I take it the console users don’t have this issue?

JMR: Get Dark3D graphics mod for Diablo 3 and it will look much nicer.
I find the base game way way too bloomy and colorful so I’m using a sharper/less colorful filter with the DarkD3 mod I’m using.

I play on the PS3 and never noticed darkness as an issue and I cannot stand games that are too dark. I enjoy the graphics quite a bit…enjoy them enought to really not care about moving up to the PS4 version. The mob A.I. is basic but on harder levels, there are some different challenges. I didnt like D1 or D2 at all…just not my kind of game and this is more of the same, but for some reason, I"m very into this one.

Wizards can be built to stand and PBAOE pretty well up through Master level, though kiting via Teleport or plain old running certainly helps. You are playing a glass cannon ranged class, so go figure. The challenge is not aggroing another pack of champs when you’re running from one already…

Ok Jason has given a few of us additional powers, we have cleaned the clan up a bit and have about 50 spaces available for anyone that is interested in joining.

Also if I have removed anyone still playing let me know or post in here and we will re add you.

Cheers

Ree.

I can also add you to the clan. Submissions must include cat pictures.

TANSTAAFL#1749. Sorry, I don’t have a cat.

He did not say it had to be a picture of your cat. Check the internet, there are several to choose from! :)

There’s a mod that changes the cursor to something that’s better visible when shit starts flying across the screen. Friend’s been using it for months and afaik no one’s been banned yet but as usual with these things, nothing’s 100%.

I thought Blizz were working custom cursors/colours into a patch. Is that still happening. I know it is something the community has been asking about for ages.

Do I need to post here and request to join the clan (which I did a while ago?)? If so, do I need to post my battle.net profile here?

If you could add me, that’d be greatly appreciated:

Is the clan full again? I had asked for an invite last week but over the weekend my internet was down, so I couldn’t log on. Yesterday I finally got on battle.net to see that I had got an invite from McMaster. I was overjoyed!..until I realized I couldn’t accept the invite cuz the clan was full again lol. I’ll keep trying, one of these days I’ll get into this fine community. luckystriker#1622
