In the PC-version Season 1 is ending Feb 3. Season 2 should be starting after a unspecified roll over period.
Of course PS4/XBONE don’t have seasons. But the season 2-only loot is available as drops already. So it’s a tradeoff.

If you don’t care about competing on a leaderboard the console way is better. I would prefer it myself.
According to a Blizzard insider leak, development on D3 is done. Maintenance mode from now on.
The insider says the members of the Diablo III team have been moved to a new project set in the Starcraft universe. The game will be similar to Warframe and contain gameplay aspects from Left4Dead, DayZ, Smite, and other MOBAs. It is in early pre-production, which means late 2016 or later.

Or, this being Blizzard, never.

That article goes onto say:
“When asked for comment Activision Blizzard said the focus right now of the Diablo III team “is on continuing to support the game with patch content. We generally don’t comment on rumors or speculation, but I do want to make sure it’s clear that they’re not working on a secret project in the StarCraft universe.””

Lots of questionable things in that ‘leak’, so take with a grain of salt. They also claim the next WoW expansion pack is feature complete, and that the next Starcraft 2 expansion will be out in ~3 months (despite the 2nd expansion being in beta for 6months, and the beta for this one hasn’t yet started). I could see “feature complete” being true only if in the same sentence as “on paper”.

I dunno, it seems feasible if you separate features from content. Mounted combat, single-player dungeons, and the ability to select which server/instance you’re in are all features that could be developed largely independently from relying on content generation.
Diablo3 is obviously in maintenance mode, but it does have an active, if small, live team. Hopefully they’re working on another expansion pack.
Honestly, I’d be really, really bummed out if we didn’t get another D3 expansion pack. The game is fantastic as is, but they could take it a lot further.

Hopefully they announce a new expansion. Don’t see why Diablo games should be restricted to only one. LoD was amazing, and RoS was even better.

I’d love to get a new character class or two…and PLEASE give us a couple more followers. Or at least make the Scoundrel more useful. I’ve never found any reason to use a follower other than the templar.

How do patches work for console versions? I already have it on PC, but was thinking of getting it for PS4 for couch coop and Prankster appeasement :).

Consoles get the patches but not the seasons: unless you’re the owner of the lowly 360 version, like me, and you’re stuck with the lousy version where Kadala vomits millions of rares and there aren’t any grifts.

The PS4 version is pretty awesome - come join me online!
I’d love this as well but didn’t they recently say that development on D3 was finished?
So there’s still hope! Excellent.
Well, that toady neo-Horadrim dude that chats up Tyreal in Act V mentions the Skoros Isles or however it’s spelled. Sounds like a plan to me.

I hit 70 in seasons, joined a random group and got Boon of the Hoarder. Joined second random group, got a Royal Ring of Grandeur. Joined third random group, and got a better Royal Ring of Grandeur. Rolled a socket on it, and I believe it has all other ‘desired’ stats. Next group dropped Cain’s Set (I’m a WD).
I’m scared to play anymore. I may never see a drop again.

I’m pretty sure the plan from the outset was two expansions. I would pay no mind to rumors.
