Last I heard awhile ago, they said that it wasn’t possible due to how the PC version was built, but don’t quote me on that.

Man, those new “Bandit shrines” are pretty cool. Shrine that poops out 5-odd treasure goblins when you click it. Also ran around doing bounties to get some of the cube materials, now I just wish I had a Furnace to tear apart.

I love how all the changes are basically “Is this more fun than it was before? Yes? DO IT!”

Indeed. In contrast to so many games, where the changes are all in the other direction, as in, “let’s make this even harder!,” Diablo keeps getting cooler.

Did a bounty in Caldeum. After playing a lot of PoE, Diablo seems so tight and visceral, in terms of player feedback, UI, sound effects, visuals, everything. Don’t get me wrong–I really like Path of Exile, and it’s a much harder and challenging game for sure, but there’s something satisfying about melting face in D3. Even hardcore, where all my characters are, feels a bit less stressful than PoE, at least on Torment I and below.

Played about two hours of this for the first time in quite a while, and the first time I’d touched my level-capped Witch Doctor in even longer. Ran around in Torment 1 adventure mode working on act V bounties and was having a pretty good time, but as I was about to start the third of the five bounties for the act bonus, I needed to attend to the baked rigatoni I was cooking and ended up spending long enough storing and cleaning up that it idled me out. I log back in (taking the opportunity to bump up the difficulty to T3 since T1 was not exactly challenging me), and now the bonus act is act III. Well, clearly not going to have time to clear that this time, so I’ll go try and find that cube. Well, those Ruins elites are a fuckload harder and the new difficulty is just a huge slog. So I drop down to T2 and crunch through some more of the Ruins. Then I hit a pack of teleporting poisonous jailer sentry rat kings that just absolutely wreck my face repeatedly and I bump down to T1 again. This time I manage to dispatch them, complete the Cursed Chest bounty I happened to have there, and found what really looked like where I needed to go (the Immortal Throne) - but it’s not. Apparently I would need to wander around randomly for some further time to find the cube. Net progress? A few paragon levels that move my stats sometimes a whole five points (in a game where my stats are in the thousands). Worthwhile drops? Zero. No legendary of any description, much less one that would be useful. No yellows that would be any sort of upgrade. No collectibles or recipes. I’m pretty frustrated with the whole thing right now. :(

Wow, sorry to hear that - had a completely different experience here. I’ve been playing on T3 and handling it pretty well with my wizard. Went and explored the new area and grabbed the cube. Changed a firebird set item to another piece of armor which helped a bit. I picked up a TON of new recipes from doing the bounties but maybe I was just missing a lot of them. Not really sure - I think some might be new ones from the patch.

I also hit a Bandit Shrine which was awesome as it looked like 5 or 6 goblins suddenly appeared and tried to split. One of them turned into a vault too which was very cool! Didn’t find any particularly good set or unique items in the 2 hours I played but it was definitely fun. I was able to do Act I and III bounties so I have a few cube bits for removing legendary powers later on.

I just got blood shards and experience from doing bounties, so I’m not sure how that’s supposed to work. Do you get them from the cache you get for finishing the act’s worth of bounties or something?

The cache you get at the end of clearing an act’s bounties gives you the recipes aside from what you might get from normally playing.

Yeah, I got three legendaries and a set piece (none of them useful, but eh) and a boat load of yellows in just an hour or less of poking around. At Torment I. But the game is very random, so your mileage WILL vary a lot.

Ok. So I was roundly screwed over by the game being server-based, and I shouldn’t bother playing if I don’t have time to clear an act. Good to know. :p

I have seen one set item in my entire time with the game, and I don’t think I have ever had more than one legendary drop every couple hours. The drop rate you’re talking about would be way more satisfying and enticing to pursue.

That’s always been the case with bounties, eg when looking for rare drops.

I have legendaries drop like candy. In fact I’m pretty sure there is an internal timer that guarantess x drops per hour if they haven’t dropped already with rng. Are you playing on a really low difficulty setting? This could cause the problem you’re talking about. Should definitely be on at least Torment I

I finally got to play the Greed level this morning, it appears randomly when you defeat a treasure goblin, but I only saw it for the first time today. Man what a ride! I went from 1.1 million gold to 17 million, and THREE legendary items (ring, gem, source) dropped for me, plus I had so many blood shards I had maxed out at 500, so I gambled for a bunch of chest armor (mine is fairly boring and just a solid but not noteworthy rare) and still have 280 shards left. What a blast! I can’t wait to start a season 4 character, should be exciting! I’m bouncing between Monk and Demon Hunter, leaning towards Monk, since I don’t have a level 70 of either of those two characters.

Wow, you are getting screwed by RNGesus, for sure; I have salvaged tons of set pieces that were dupes or crap, and have a stash full of others, and zillions of legendaries (well, I salvaged most of them). Admittedly, most of these are crap too but still.

I remember the good old days when I found exactly 1 “legendary” item in my first month or two playing and it was a piece of crap.

I am.

I am on Torment 1 and experimented with going as high as Torment 3.

Legs and Sets have never, ever dropped like candy for me either. Sets in particular are rare as fucking hen’s teeth for me.

This is why I’m going to resist diving back into D3 for now. Last time I did so, I just couldn’t get back into PoE. Now that I’m finally making real progress in PoE, I don’t want to have D3 lure me away again.
