Diablo III

SPEAK ENGLISH!!!11

Couldnā€™t you say that about any of Teimanā€™s posts?

So after the first playthrough (reached level 10):

As Tom says thereā€™s not a lot of choices to make. Crafting is somewhat funā€¦ but I can see that a lot of Diablos draw is the gambling aspect, and I think Iā€™d rather play craps in a casino.

Everything looks wonderful, production values are high (except for some of the voice acting). The story is ā€œgo beat stuffā€.
But you guys already knows this.

ā€˜No pauseā€™ doesnā€™t appear to be a problem. Just empty a room of enemies and portal back to the town and do whatever rl stuff you need to do.

I played without fiddling with difficulty and only died onceā€¦ considering Iā€™m crap at every game there is, this means that the Diablo III beta is very very easy.

How is it compared to 2?

(also this is the One True Thread)

As I said, Iā€™m no great fan and couldnā€™t offer the in depth comparison that fans would want. In my limited memory of the prior games, itā€™s mostly the same.

Well, I guess no one outside of Blizzard knows for certain if you can sell runes or not, but it seems likely. It definitely seems as though you will be able to buy or pick up every component of character customization. Of course, youā€™d have to be a Wizard able to cast Meteor in order to have somewhere to put Molten Impact. There are also level restrictions on runestones.

Can you have more than one version of a skill, in case you donā€™t want to sell your crap Comet but hang on to it for when Molten Impact gets the inevitable nerf?

Again, I donā€™t know, but I have a hard time believing you wouldnā€™t be able to swap them out. Otherwise, you wouldnā€™t be able to experiment with different versions of skills.

Been refreshing my email every 10mins for a few days. :P

It sounds like some of the Runestones that drop will be Unattuned, but there will still be plenty dropping that are already known. Also, can you sell a Runestone after itā€™s used? It sounded like both Runestones and Gems were consumables, in that once they were applied the only thing you could do is replace them with new ones, not take them out and sell them, but I may have read that wrong.

I donā€™t recall either of the other two Diablos having much in the way of customization either at level ten, so Iā€™m struggling to believe thatā€™s an issue. Of course, Iā€™m not a sensationalist contrarian by profession, so what do I know?

SPOILER!

You confront diablo. He dies. Game over. You win.
Game is nothing like original. It also sucks. And wow-tized.

Donā€™t you cry no more.
Lay your weary head to rest.
Thereā€™ll be peace when you are done.
Carry on my wayward son.

This is still all kinds of stupid. If the phone or doorbell rings I need to pause the game, simply. It makes no sense to have this restriction in a single player game.

Also, I have read that the game logs you out if you are idle too long. So you canā€™t just portal away and ā€œdo things you need to do in rlā€ anyway

Welcome to Online Only. Singleplayer wot? youā€™re connected to our b.net servers. EA Execs say you eat bandwidth. We think theyā€™re right! NO IDLING! YOU MUST AUTHENTICATE AT ALL TIMES!

Weā€™ll ERASE YOU FROM EXISTENCE by nullifying your REAL ID!

Diablo 2 had the exact same restriction when you played online, as has almost every single online game in the past years. Personally, I feel pause itself is a bit antiquated. Itā€™s nice if itā€™s included but it certainly isnā€™t mandatory, especially in a single player game (whereas in a competitive multiplayer game, it makes sense to have a pause function in case of problems).

Is it annoying? I guess. Is it worth moaning about every few posts? God no. If you feel so strongly about it ruining your entire experience of the game then simply donā€™t buy it to begin with. Problem solved :)

Most certainly did. Most certainly did.

So edgy.

Itā€™s not nice to make fun of handicapped people, James.

It is not edgy. It is the sad reality in which we are living. And itā€™s only going to get worse so long you sit idle and do nothing.

Is that what you said when the bad kids were taunting you at school? Poor fellow.

Itā€™s actually a little impressive how clever you think you are compared to reality.
