This seems to happen sometimes, whether simply due to math or because of secret Blizzard mojo, dunno. But there are times when you just can’t stop pulling legendaries and set pieces out of the ether. Of course, there are other days when you can’t get anything better than a crappy rare…

I had an amazing night last night as well. Popped my difficulty up to T2 to see how it would go, and in 90 minutes got the kitty mojo, 2 pieces of Arachnyr and a Grin Reaper helm. After that, it was time to bump up to T3 and I’m thinking I’ll try T4 tonight since I’m blowing through T3 with less difficulty than expected. Shortest stint of T2 I’ve ever had.

Thanks-- I had it wrong, I knew T7 was the cutoff, but what it does is give 4 crafting materials rather than 3, not a chance at 2 death’s breaths.

So you want to get the T7 as soon as you can, for bounties, even if they take a bit longer. Not for rifts.

Doesn’t it still depend on clear speed, though? Mathematically there should be a sweet spot between max clearing level x matts and fastest clearing level x matts (assuming all torment levels)?

Can someone explain Greater Rifts? I see this from the Wiki:

When players complete each Greater Rift by moving the progress bar to 100% and then killing the Guardian that appears, before the 15m timer runs out, they receive a token for a higher level Greater Rift. (Faster clears earn bigger jumps up in the Grift key level.)

I get a GRift key from a regular rift. I use it, I complete it before the timer (8 mins or so), I win. It says I completed it at Level 12 or whatever. Cool! I even get to level up my gems at that crafter person that appears. I don’t receive this token for a higher level GRift, however. Where is this supposed to be found? I tried bumping up the Torment levels (to T3) but although I still beat it easily before the time limit, it still says only L12, which is what I started with.

Clearly I’m missing something obvious, could someone enlighten the slow kid in the class?

Before the latest patch, Greater Rifts gave the option of providing an upgraded key. Now, you just select a higher difficulty from the drop down in the Rift opening interface. Game difficulty doesn’t figure into the Greater Rift difficulty.

When you click the Gright button, i think a drop down menu on the left side shows your current difficulty.

The drop down menu has higher difficulties to choose from.

It took me some time to find it. I hope that’s some help.

I never noticed that, thanks! I’ll check out out when I get home.

With this new change, can you try to upgrade a legendary gem after every single GR then? If so, kudos, great change!

That is a hell of a jump in Monster health between T6 and T7…yikes! I was able to do bounties and two normal rifts in a reasonable amount of time last night on T4, but I’m a long way from being able to do T7 safely, let alone quickly.

Thank goodness they put in that Kenai’s Cube recipe that turns a set item into a different slot…I have picked up 4 Eight-Demon Boots, 3 Uliana’s set chests and 2 Uliana’s set pants. Ugh. Now I have to farm legendaries for that Brimstone material to convert them into a set I can use.

Yes, of course. But if you can do T6 without too much trouble, you should take a bit longer and go to T7. And then stay on T7 until it starts going really fast.

Indeed. Still restricted by the Rift level though, so you’ll need to hit the 25-30 range if you want a reasonable shot at unlocking the secondary abilities on gems.

Wow, nice! At least you don’t have to make that choice at the end anymore…try a gem or go for a higher level?

I appreciate not having to game the stupid level-determination minigame any more.

Decided to start a Season 4 character. Went with the Demon Hunter - pretty cool! I love how she gets a rapid-fire skill so quickly.

Mistake that I started out the season character immediately at Expert difficulty? Already some huge damage sponges which take a while to kill. Wondering if I shouldn’t drop it to Hard. I kind of like it but I just want to make sure it’s not a mistake in the long term, though I guess I can just drop it down later if I must.

I usually start on normal/hard until I at least have some blues, then quickly ramp to Expert -> Master. I often just stay on Master throughout leveling, because my uber weapon becomes much less so if I gain a quick 4-5 levels without another weapon upgrade.

There’s no reason to ever play on normal, as hard is extremely easy. Last I checked expert wasn’t rewarded well for the increased difficulty, so you basically want to level on hard or master (assuming no twinked powerful items).

I guess what I’m trying to ask is what’s “more efficient”. Expert of course makes enemies take longer to kill, but does the extra experience offset things enough compared to Hard? Or would the fact that I can kill enemies faster on Hard outweigh the bonus from Expert?

Hard or Master for efficiency. Master is really pretty easy once you start getting rares, which shouldn’t be a problem past the initial levels.

I’d say if you can’t handle Master very well then just stick with Hard. Not really worth going to Expert.
