Thanks for the great tips wombat!

Just finished my first solo GR50 on my seasonal wizard. That’s not exactly leaderboard material, but it has been a lot of fun finding the right combination of gear and build to push him further.

After not playing this game since launch, I remain amazed how much the new dev team improved it.

Nice job. Which build are you using?
I’m sticking with the Delrasha build for now. Haven’t tried a 50 yet - 40’s seem tough enough.

My WD is getting most of my play time this go round (normal, not seasonal.) Trying to find the balance between too much defense and not enough is actually kinda fun.

Gotten my 7S strike cd to 8 second so far. Using items to apply Exploding Palm on 7s strike, doubled the effect of 7s strike, have exploding strike apply exploding strike on exploding strike, only missing the one for having exploding strike explode when using 7s strike and a bit shorter cooldown, should be fun :) Not sure it will be viable at high level torment though.

Having not played in some time and not anxious to kill my hardcore 70(41) Demon Hunter quite yet, I’m hoping someone can help with my Season 4 progress.

Greater Rifts, I had gotten a stone for it once and it put me automatically into a level 12 rift. I only need to get to 10 to finish the progress needed for a pet and portrait, but I did not seem to have a say in the matter. In addition, while I did not feel in danger at any point, it took me 30 minutes to clear the rift, I wasn’t even close to beating it on time.

The question is, without seeing my character at that time, was I poorly geared or is there some secret I need to be able to start at a level lower than 12?

Explodeception achieved.

Also DelRasha:

A GR12 is equivalent to Torment 1. Do you have difficulty in Torment 1? If so, you may need to climb the gear curve a bit, in particular to gather a full class set, such as Natalya’s for your DH.

There is also a fair bit of strategy in beating the timer for GR’s. You learn what is worth killing, what should be dragged along and what should be skipped altogether. Mob density is pretty important.

I finished my first Greater Rift today (lvl 12, no idea why it started there) and I have no idea how I pulled it off, because I’m geared for Hard/Expert (Master is viable but a bit too slow at this point).

I guess I should mostly do bounties now to grind for mats/recipes so I can build appropriate sets or something, but trying a Greater Rift was interesting to say the least. I hope I can try it at some later point again ;)

Thanks. Our builds are almost identical. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Blackluck-1221/hero/3065207
I can’t get an Aether Walker to drop. I had one last season but since that was pre-cube and it sucked, it got crushed.
I do think I’m doing grifts wrong though as I plow through everything. That’s why I have black hole- it sucks up all the bad stuff, which can get pretty bad when there’s 2 or 3 elite packs to take down.

The level selection for GRs is a drop-down. It’s an esoteric UI convention that Blizzard invented just for this, I think ;)

A full class set is hilarious overkill for T1. A reasonably played character in decently statted (crit on bracers, crit on helm, mainstat + vit/all-resist/+life elsewhere is the goal, but it’s not like you must have all that) gear should be able to stomp on T1 pretty well.

:D

Just got a one-hander with 99% exploding damage boost, so managed to get my guy up to T5 now. All those lovely explosions. Shame it isn’t a Ancient weapon though, but one day!

Missing a chest-piece or leggings for the 2-set bonus from Rainment of thousand storms (25% increased attack speed + 300 dmg on spirit generators).
Also missing FOCUS to get the 2-set bonus from focus/restraint (50% damage increase).

Been trying to use the cube to upgrade rare-rings/amulents to get the ring/amulets I want, no luck so far but I did get the nagelring so now I get more explosions with thanks to my enchantress. :)

Yeah, I don’t have a full class set but I’m doing T4 just fine, T5 I can complete as well but I have to stay on my toes. I made an immediate jump to T1 when hitting L70 in nothing but random rares and maybe a couple under-leveled legendaries and it was just fine.

Note that it’s actually a +100% damage increase if you alternate between generators and consumers. I’ve been hoping to get Focus + Restraint for my seasonal monk who’s up to torment 6/7 atm. but haven’t seen either one yet. :/

I think it’s +125%.

My Hardcore Barb made it through the campaign (end battle made me a little nervous as he dropped my health pretty badly a couple of times with those HP-sucking circling ghosts!) so on to Adventure mode/Grifts/etc! Nice to not feel trapped in the campaign timeline finally. Haven’t found any particularly amazing loot yet though the cow polearm was fun for a bit. I mostly use Cleave (exploding rune) + Whirlwind (rune varies) to kill and it’s gone pretty well. I think I left off around level 55ish so I’ve got a bit before I can hit 70 and start finding the good stuff.

The complex thing about % multipliers is that Blizzard mixes addititive and mutiplicative bonuses. The UI doesn’t differentiate them, so the only way to know for sure is to test things or haunt the forums and read those who have done so.

I lost out on gr50 last night on my seasonal monk. Spent too much time with the elites and was about 30 seconds too late in the end. It feels like this is currently a cap for my character since I don’t have ancient weapons yet.

I just got Focus + Restraint this weekend and was amazed by how much it increased my Monk’s damage. It allowed me to do my first Level 25 GR solo and I could probably do higher now.

Kind of having a hard time figuring out a build that will let me do 30+ GRs. I ran with a Demon Hunter who was a friend of a friend and at GR 36, her damage output seemed unreal…it got to the point where I just respecced/re-geared for spirit regen and would use Cyclone Strike (Implosion) to just pull everything into her rain of arrows…stuff only lasted a few seconds in that.

My current DPS build is (thanks to Ring of Royal Grandeur as my jewelry ability) 4-piece Uliana’s, 4-piece Inna’s, 2-piece Sunwuko’s, Focus+Restraint, Lion’s Claw, the weapon ability that increases Exploding Palm damage by 100%, and I don’t remember my armor ability. Haven’t found Gungdo’s bracer yet…really need it. Oh, using Lightning Wreath, and some Noxious gem for AE damage.

If anyone has advice, I’d like to hear it. I know I’m kinda all over the place.

Sunwoko (3 piece + RoRG) and semi-decent gear (i.e. a semi decent 2H, doesn’t need to be ancient) will get you into T6 and probably T7/8 even without F/R. Either a Grand Incest Torch or a Cindercoat will allow you to spam Pillars (ā€œBellsā€.) I dusted off my monk this weekend (skipped him last season as I wasn’t interested in the dashing strike game play of Raiment) and didn’t have any issues using Sunwoko/4pc Inna in T8. Doesn’t have to be Inna though, I just happened to have some those items lying about (not seasonal monk.)
