Yeah, ultimately builds are determined by gear; if the set prioritizes skill X, you use X. I think Rapid Fire, because it requires you to be stationary, is less popular at the high end of the difficulty curve, sort of like Disintegrate for a wiz.

I’d just like to take a moment here to brag that I got my pet for completing chapter 4 of the season challenges (not hardcore though – I am not careful enough). Go me.

What next?

There are like six more tiers of seasonal bragging rights to gun for, heh. I pretty much bailed on those though, even though I’m relatively close to Slayer.

Congrats! I’m two or three keywardens away from achieving the same. Looking forward to it. :)

Is there some bug with plans not dropping from the caches after you complete a set of bounties? For a while, I was getting plans, but I haven’t seen any in quite a while.

Does it drop duplicate plans? Maybe you have them all?

Plans stop dropping once you feed them to the relevant trainer.

What part of Slayer are you stuck on? I think I completed that one without even noticing. Now I’m at 4/5 of Destroyer which requires one of the Conquests to be completed. I think I’ll go for the 6x 50 legendary gems one, seems like the easiest to get for me at the moment since I’ve only cleared GRifts up to 50.

I’m pretty frustrated on my Witch Doctor; can’t get a bunch of key stuff to drop. Been treading water for a while now. On my DH, I never went that long without a nice improvement. Even with Sharaleo carrying me through dozens of legendary/set drops, I couldn’t use any of it.

I use Haunt with the 2 set bonus from Jade Harvester so that every other spirit does instant damage. I’m using the ā€œHackā€ Axe that applies your Thorns damage on top of each initial Haunt hit, and currently the ā€œShard of Hateā€ as my weapon power to shoot out a frozen orb with every single cast. The Haunt skill has a 100% proc rate, so the Shard and Hack powers always fire off.

HC mode is ALL risk. That’s why its fun :)
Besides, leveling up to level 70 is much MUCH faster than it used to be. If you play in ā€œHardā€ mode and just do Nepahlem Rifts over an over again, you can hit L70 in no time even with no items or Paragon levels. The trick seems to be to keep the difficulty low enough so that you can one hit kill any non-elite monster and just keep going.

I rolling with an Unhallowed Essence Multi-shot build. Mostly because they were some of the early set pieces I had drop so it was fairly quick to get the basic set up and running. Turns out is is also quite potent. I am still missing the Calamity xbow for my weapon cube slot (damn thing won’t drop), but I clear T8 comfortably and solo GR40 (T9) in about 6 minutes or so - assuming I don’t roll Perdition and his insta-kill teleport charge as the RG.

But I don’t think you can go too far wrong with the Unhallowed, Marauders or Natalya’s sets as your base, depending on what drops for you.

I finally got my Uliana set, Focus, Restraint, Gungdo Gear and cubed a Flow of Eternity. Even Elites just blow up at T7. Now to complete the set with the fist weapons. I realised that even if I never actively use it, Exploding Palm needs to be set on the bar if I want to use the rune.

Soooooo much fun just watching stuff explode repeatedly with Seven Sided Strike.

That’s how I feel as well. Some of my friends refuse to play non-HC now. But I due to the by-design low risk play style, I find Hardcore to be as war was famously described–long stretches of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror. I have more fun pushing high level Greater Rifts and seeing how high you can go, and you can’t push as hard as I’d like without a high risk of dying.

I decided to jump into this season and for some reason decided I would do HC because I haven’t really spent time in there. Made it to 55 and 58 before getting careless and dying. Now my Barbarian is up to 64, so hopefully will hit 70 in the next play seasion. The leveling goes pretty quick so it hasn’t been too bad.

Wait what? I assume that it won’t drop the specific plans I’ve already fed to the vendor, but it doesn’t seem to drop any plans at all, and I’ve only fed a couple to the vendor. This is for my softcore characters. For my HC characters, it dropped plans the first 4 or 5 times and then stopped. All of those characters were pretty low level though, so maybe that’s the problem. I will try it with a higher level character and see what happens.

I’m not doing seasons (least not yet) since I’m still irritated from playing a barb last season and taking 60 hours to get semi-decent gear. It was dreadful.

Anyway on my non season monk I’m still waiting for the other green fist weapon to drop so in the mean time running a fire Sunwoku/Uli build. Fooling around with different builds I added 2 pc Inna/crudest boots and running Endurance ally + gizzard + LPS mantra, I managed to regen 560,000 hp/sec. Popping the mantra resulted in a 1 million point shield. Haha. Still managed to die while trapped in the poison ring fighting Hammish and an arcane beam elite in a T9 rift :/

That’s probably it then. Seems like the crafted items have ~10 level difference between tiers. It’s possible the schematic droprate is tied to the level requirement.

It’s been a week or two, but I was like 30s off of the ā€œT6 rift in 7 minutesā€ one (or is it GR25? whatever). Might be able to do it now, but I got scared since I nearly died twice from pushing it so damn hard. It was fun, though, I’ll give it that. Trying to hit the timer is tense in HC.

e: also I’m going to stock up on those damn bounty mats so hard this weekend, you guys don’t even know. T7 bounties go sooooo faaaaaast with (effectively) infinite Teleport.

Congrats on getting all those items! I’m still missing Flow of Eternity, but I’m getting by with Beacon of Ytar, Max Paragon points in Cooldown Reduction, and a few Cooldown Reduction items. Did you pick up a Lion’s Claw yet? Turning 7 Sided Strike into a 14 Sided Strike is mind-blowing.

Been playing a Crusader with my wife and, frankly, I find it boring as hell. We’re up to doing T5’s now (Crusader and Wizard duo). I got some lucky drops (+300% shield bash damage when hitting 3 or less mobs, Punish gets every rune, etc.), to the point that a shield bash hitting a solo mob is critting for 90mil+. Seeing big numbers is fun, but it just feel so… boring compared to my WD.

The build I’m running is:
Punish
Shield Bash
Shield Glare (with charm rune)
Condemn
Law of something (damage prevention one)
Avatar of Akkhan (whatever it’s called)

I have the 6 piece Akkhan set bonus, plus some cool-down reduction, so I’m almost always in Avatar mode. Again, big numbers, nearly indestructible, but boring as heck. I think it’s because the Crusader feels so slow. Long-ish cooldowns on everything, and the cooldowns themselves don’t seem to make much difference. Shield Bash out-damages Condemn by a long shot, thanks to the bracers. It’s at the point where I’m really just popping Avatar, shield bashing everything that moves, using shield glare for crowd control, then lather-rinse-repeat.

I am in the same boat with my crusader. He is indestructible, but holly hell, he is slow to kill shit. His DPS is only a little below that of my wizard which just cuts through stuff like there is no tomorrow. I think the reason is that my wizard has non-stop aoe damage, while the crusader abilities are all on cooldown.
