If you miss the timer, you still get all the loot/reward drops from the GR guardian, but Urshi will not appear to give you the opportunity to upgrade your gems. I think you still get XP when speaking with Orek and closing the GR afterwards, but it may be reduced.
Thanks. Urshi actually does appear, but will not give you the option to upgrade, she just tells you she will do so if you (ever) beat the timer.
But what happens if I drop out before beating the guardian? Say, at 75% of the rift? I just get nothing, I guess?
Damn. Considering the time it took me yesterday, I’d better plan playing those rifts carefully then! Luckely greater riftstones don’t drop that often below Torment lvl, so I wont be able to do another one for a while anyway!
Yep, cindercoat is next on the list. Haven’t found one yet, sadly. I’ll probably actually equip it so I can keep Pride’s Fall slotted in the cube.
Nah, you want the set helm so you can use Convention of Elements in the cube instead of rrog, which you would need otherwise.
Keeping in mind of course that you’ll be running focus and restraint, so the build rotates between builder and spender anyway to keep those buffs up. Cubed Cindercoat resolves most of your resource issues until you start running GR 50+
Edit - I presume you are running MS with the Arsenal rune…

I wanted to try out 6-piece Uliana’s plus 4-piece Sunwuko’s (using RoRG Jewelry slot from Kanai’s Cube) with my build. Surely one would want an extra +500% Exploding Palm damage buff? Although I do like to use Cyclone Strike to activate the 3 second buff which does not seem to be in any of the new Monk Uber builds.
I did try out the 6-piece Uliana’s build you linked, Bateau, though I didn’t have the belt or the non-Lion’s Claw weapon. It felt awkward to me, but I can see its appeal. I did modify it a bit to fit my playstyle and I think I may try it out on harder difficulties, so thanks for that link!

That set, with that exact belt, bracers and the right items cubed, is the best example I’ve seen in D3 of incredible synergies. It works fairly well missing a piece or two. But those last two pieces are both tremendous boosts to your ability to complete 50+ GR’s. The only flexibility in the build is your accessory slots.
Is this a hardcore character? I’ve gotten a seasonal hardcore DH up to running essentially this build, although crucially without Yang’s or Focus/Restraint, so still a ways from your damage output. But I’ve got about 26M toughness and in T8 4-mans I have to spend a ton of time vaulting…mostly with half health or less. Between the AOE nature of the build and the brittleness of the class, it seems like GR50+, especially solo, is going to be really difficult.
That said, it is fun. You definitely feel like you are on a knife edge all the time.
I got my seasonal DH her full set of Natalya’s, and again, it was like someone flipped a switch on effectiveness.
Nope, that one is not hardcore. DPS is the key - kill stuff before it gets to you. Keeping in mind a T8 4 man’s the monster health is significantly increased, that would slow your effective clear speed and result in a bit more vaulting, particularly if the group is advancing too quickly and not clearing space for you to lay down fire without being harassed by straggling mobs.
Yangs and the F+R combo will significantly improve your sustained DPS. Also keep an eye on your CHC/CHD. Mine is currently effectively 60/510.
Of course, playing HC you do tend to favour toughness over raw damage output.
I wish there was an AFK tag for this game - sorry sharaleo, would have loved to have gone a hellfire run!
Still figuring out how to push my WD to T10 - still feel like a bit of a glass cannon.
You can set yourself to Away in the Battle.net client.

My wife decided she wanted to play a Witch Doctor. Last weekend we powered her up to 70 pretty quickly and got her some decent gear. Last night she said “I want the 6 piece Zennimassa, let’s run some rifts”. She had 3 pieces at the time and is using a RoRG, so figured we needed to get lucky to get her 2 more pieces. 90 minutes later, she’s sporting 5 pieces of ZM and 3 pieces of Arachnyr, giving her the 6 piece and 4 piece of the sets. She also got a Jeram’s helm that she popped in her cube and is using now. No gambling, no rerolling set pieces, no upgrading. Just a really favorable RNG session. Dang witchdoctor has, at most, 3 hours of play time invested in it.
I’ve spent like 5000 shards and have yet to see a Mask of Jeram for my WD. :(
Haven’t seen one myself. Maybe I should try to shard one as well.
The average person will spend 7250 shards, so no complaining yet!

I was curious about Blood Shards. I’ve never gotten anything good with them. What exactly should I be trying to get with them?

Everything. I use them a lot when filling out sets.
Shard for armor pieces that you need to complete a set. Cube rares for weapons.
