There are 11 slots, so 1100%, but no, there’s no way that’s competitive with sets plus Focus and Restraint.

I understand that’s the whole point of the PTR, but usually they’re close on numbers. This nerf is almost an order of magnitude in difference per item. I tend to agree that 100% won’t be meaningful enough to be useful, but maybe if you pair it with a nice 4 piece set bonus and fill the rest out with ancients there’s a nice middle ground (Edit: I can’t read)? The enormity of this nerf makes me chuckle and picture the new set as something that was hastily dreamed up at a drunken get together.

Numbers aside, the point is they are ready to address the issue of Sets vs Legs, green vs orange. Based on all the recent changes, I trust them to get it more or less right. People were closing in on (and passed I heard) 1 trillion crits with legacy of nightmares after only a couple days of farming, so 800% per item was (obviously I think) off relative to other sets.

However I do think that legacy of nightmares should compete not simply with 6 piece sets, but with sets X (Focus + Restraint).

13 slots- don’t forget that the LoN rings can be ancient.

It’s live on PTR. LoN is per item, not flat.

Lost my heroic seasonal last night to an ill-timed internet outage. Probably the way many heroic characters go…

Now I’m irritated because it’s far to late in this season to start a new character, but i still want to play. Anyone know when the next season is likely dropping?

So, I’m finally getting around to picking up Diablo III (with Reaper of Souls), and am wondering whether to go for the PC or PS4 version? I’m having a difficult time finding solid information on the differences between the versions, apart from control schemes.

Either way, I’m going to be playing solo (not with strangers), so I don’t care about the online experience, and I’ll be sitting in the same chair, looking at the same screen (PS4 is also hooked up to the computer screen). I’m also not likely to go for the extreme endgame - D2 I played the first two difficulties, but after that, I preferred trying different characters rather than going for the last difficulty. I’m mostly a pc gamer, but do play a bit on the consoles as well, and I’ve read several people saying that a controller feels more natural for D3 than mouse+keyboard. Also, as a Hearthstone player, I have little faith in the stability of Blizzard’s servers, and don’t see why my single-player experience should be at their whim.

Honestly, if I hadn’t read of other people preferring the console experience, and there hadn’t been the always-connected nuisance with the PC version, I would have gone PC with little hesitation - that’s what I generally do for multi-platform titles. But for D3, I wonder if PS4 might not be superior for me?

Advice and information to help me make a decision would be welcome.

Last I heard, next season starts January 15th.

As far as I know, the only advantage that PC has over console is the Season mode. I much prefer it on the PS4 to the PC myself. Just more fun overall for me.

I believe only PC has access to seasons. I really like the seasons – it’s what brought me back to D3. They have titles, pets, new season-only gear, portraits, achievements and other goodies. The new one should be kicking off later in January.

The other typical PC advantage would be earlier access to patches, but even those now tend to be simultaneous I think. At least the upcoming additions in 2.4.0 will be.

I have both the PC version and the 360 one and I would argue I enjoyed the console version better even though the OSX version looks better. Gameplay is superior IMO on the console.

However I like the console better for all the reasons OP said were not relevant to him so YMMV.

For my tastes Seasons are the biggest reason to keep playing the game, since they provide goals over and above just getting every class to 70 and then farming loot forever. And Blizzard has said repeatedly they’ll be staying PC only.

I play primarily on PS4. The biggest advantage of PS4 in my opinion is the same screen co-op play, which is why it has become my platform of choice. The controller works fantastically with the game. I find it makes the experience feel more relaxed. That said, some of the abilities can benefit from very specific aim and the mouse is more precise. The controller tries to intuit ideal aiming for some of these moves and it’s generally very good, but I would give a small edge to mouse and keyboard input all the same.

Bingo. You don’t know it yet, but you want Seasons. Ergo, PC is the way forward.

The other reason is there a bunch of us here that get pretty active during the seasons, so you’ll have plenty of QT3’ers to tag along with. I know you mention being primarily a single player gamer, but don’t discount it with D3 - it is really quite fun, easy and rewarding as loot rates increase. There is nothing quite like peeling off all the adventure mode bounties in 20-30 minutes because 4 players are split farming, then hitting all the bounty caches all at once! Or tagging along with a player 200 paragon levels above you on a Torment X Greed run. Sooo much fun!

I got the Xbox One version of Diablo 3 after playing the PC version for ~100 hours. There are some really nice interface affordances like the quick inventory shortcuts.

Basically, every time you pick up an item you can (optionally) see a tiny text popup on the side of the screen without opening your inventory, and it’ll show basic comparisons to your current gear. With a quick button press you can equip the item or market it as junk. Then when you’re at a merchant you can sell all junk with a single button press.

The dodging mechanic is nice too.

Those are nice features. Though, I have to say, after a while, when all your characters are 70, pretty much 99% of what you pick up is junk, and I wish there was a way to auto-convert loot to salvage on the fly, as virtually everything that isn’t green or the occasional legendary that isn’t junk gets melted.

I read up a little bit of seasons, and I don’t really see the appeal. But then, I’m not looking for a game to play forever either. (I’ve rarely understood complaints about games lacking endgame - I’m the person with enough of a backlog to very happily move on to the next game when I feel I’m done with whatever I’m currently playing.)

Thanks for the insights from various people here… so far, I think I’ll probably go for the PS4 version.

I’ve both the PC and PS4 versions and I have to say that I enjoyed the PS4 version more than the PC. I’m sure it’s the controller that makes the whole thing smoother as there would otherwise be little difference in the way I play (solo, non-Season characters). I’ve all classes at 70 but I didn’t bother with Adventure Mode on the PC other than trying it out. On the PS4, however, Adventure Mode is insanely fun.

Have to agree, though, that after 70 the loot-finding grind is a bit of a drag considering how little your equipment changes. I like feeling my character is changing, and without the rapid swapping in equipment, high-level playing can be a bit unrewarding. So, hopefully the gameplay itself is exciting enough, as it was for me on the PS4.

There is no more season-only gear, FYI. The main advantages to seasons now are the free 6-piece set, achievements, unique transmog items, and unique banners.

The new patch is looking pretty sweet, although obviously nothing could ever compare to 2.4.

I wish they were working on a second expansion.

Yes, an expansion would be great. How about that hint Tyrael drops about the whatzit Isles? Where the Horadrim are doing…something. That would work as an expansion.
