I knew I shoulda trademarked that!!

It’s the exact right way to describe it :)

I’m enjoying the new, sploogier D3 even more in S5. Delsere’s set was my favorite last season, and now it’s one of the FOTM builds for wizards. I also like the Reborth feature, as I’m one of those people picky about character names.

D3 2.0 is my favorite example of a new dev team turning a bad game with terrible design decisions into a terrific game.

Remember when Tom Chick came up with that ā€œpower sploogeā€ phrase? Well, son, let me tell you…

It was always possible to have duplicate characters names - I cycle my characters between a number of Doctor Who references, and I think I have three ā€œBadWolfā€ Witch Doctors sitting around. The only thing I can tell that a rebirth does is simplify getting your seasonal character over to non-seasonal.

The exact opposite, actually. But yeah.

I’m liking the destroy-7-or-more-things to get a speed bonus which helps when you go down a dead end path & need to backtrack. Now I’m saving urns & barrels for my eventual return back. Also, the lit fuse UI element so you know how long you’ve got to make a kill to keep the kill streak going. Nice.

Oh, hah. Then I fail at rebirth. I clicked on it thinking it would (re)make my character as seasonal, and I ended up with a non-seasonal character. I didn’t pursue it further, just created a new seasonal character from scratch. D3 is a bit of a binge game for me - I play it at the start of a season, maybe even long enough to get the achievements/banner/whatever, then wander off again so I pay little attention to what happens to my stuff after that point. I won’t ever use them again outside of a season, likely.

It’s not even been 24 hours and people are up to Tier 70? How the hell…?

Anyone running their monk with the new Sunwuko build yet? Debating on whether or not to switch from my Uliana/Gungdo bracers build, but not sure if the dmg output would be considerably lower. I’d test, but the game is flipping me the finger when it comes to getting a Vengeful Wind for those extra Sweeping Wind stacks.

Need to hit Torment 4 before I can get the full sunwoku set from the CHapter quest. And since I’m playing on Hardcore mode that means I’m taking it slooooow :)

The two set bonus from Sunwoki (think it was) gives me 50% damage reduction when I have swirling wind or something around me.
Then I found a chest-piece that gives me 50% damage reduction as long as I stay above 94% resources.
= Fun

You can get to L70 in less than a few hours, if you know some of the tricks, areas to farm, ideal time to craft weapons for massive DPS boosts, etc.

I think he meant Tier 70 Greater Rifts.

Same answer still applies, you just substitute ā€œL70 in less than a few hoursā€ with ā€œT70 by poop-socking itā€ and the rest still works.

I don’t mind the recipes being reset, but do you need to play through adventure mode again in a new season to get Kenai’s Cube?

Nope. Just jump to Act III in Adventure Mode, and run through the Ruins of Sescheron. You’ll find somewhere in there.

So Thorns set + Thorns axe has gotten me up to T5ish without hitting the absurd-looking 6pc yet. I am amused.

I’m not sure how I feel about getting the free 6pc set as part of the season rewards. I mean it certainly speeds up the process of getting to the ā€œlate gameā€ but I feel that it skips a significant part of the power curve. In previous seasons, you’d hit 70 and then incrementally upgrade your stuff to good rares and then lvl 70 legendaries and at some point you’d get your first set-bonus and finally a full set much later on. This led to a natural progression from Torment 1 to 6 where each meaningful item upgrade would let you bump the torment level up by one.

Now, as soon as you hit lvl 70 you can pretty much immediately jump straight to Torment 6 or 7 (at least with the Witch Doctor and the Jade Harvester set). You get the two first set items just from hitting lvl 70, the set bonus enables you to run Torment 2 which is required to the next two pieces and the 4pc bonus lets you run Torment 4 which is enough for you to get the final pieces.

I mean, I enjoy the Jade Harvester playstyle a lot but getting it so easily kinda feels like cheating. I also think that it trivializes a big part of the game post lvl 70, for example there’s very little reason to craft equipment. Previously, the crafted set items and legendaries offered an alternative way to bootstrap your farming when you’d just hit 70 wearing mostly lower level items.

I agree!

On the other hand, part of the point of being 70 is to play with the fun set bonuses and it takes rather a while to get sets/legendaries dropping at a reasonable rate unless you’re poopsocking group runs, which is something I have no interest in doing.

I dunno. I was shocked when I got the mail from Haedrig, and I wouldn’t be upset if they took it back out for S6.

Rather than giving players a class-specific 6 set, my solution would be something like the Legacy of Nightmares without the ancient equipped scaling requirement. That would allow players to immediately jump to torments without forcing a specific playstyle or shortcutting too much of the item hunt metagame. The two other seasonal journey gifts would be changed to 500 Death’s Breaths and 50 each of the bounty crafting ingredients, respectively.

Ye gods, the new/improved Legendaries are a lot better.

My health almost literally doesn’t move on T7 running Justice Lantern (damage reduction equal to half your block chance) and Aquila Cuirass (50% damage reduction when above 9x% resource). Went from getting like four-shotted in the Invoker set dungeon to laughing through it.

Just need to find some dang Topazes so I can actually run a Flawless Royal in my weapon, the ridiculous Bombardment belt, and an Ironhide chestpiece. But this is pretty lulzy as it is.
