Yeah sadly, the only time you can trade gear is if the other player was with you when it dropped (gambling and crafting excepted). That is basically the power of grouping in D3, not only can you clear faster (or be carried in higher levels ;) ), but the effective drop rate is greater as every player gets there own drops and you can trade gear.

And sorry about yesterday Tman, I did not realise you could not TP to me during a GR, so I should have escorted you through that level more carefully.

I feel stupid, but yes, you are right! Guess it’s time to scrap them!

No worries! I had a great time. You helped me make $50M in the vault! That was really cool. And during our other runs, I picked up some nice gear.

Last night I had a great run, Pyrhic and me made it to T9 GR, and I finally got not one but two justice lanterns! I was debating whether to try & stack them but then I also got ā€œEndless walkā€ set of the amulet traveler’s pledge and ring compass rose (50% damage reduction if walking, 50% damage increase if standing still), which has really helped end my squishiness.

I didn’t realize you need topaz’s to try for sockets on rings, so believe it or not, my main challenge is getting more topaz’s. Rolling for a socket can be a real challenge.

Hmmm. Completed the season, rolled over a T10 GR last night… I’m thinking that I’m pretty much done for D3 for now :) I can’t imagine trying to gild the lily anymore just to get up to the current Qt3 clan DH leader at a L63 GR. L45 is enough for me.

That’s completely normal. Most people play for a week or two each patch, then put it down until the next one.

Phew. Beat Xcom 2 last night which made me dive back in on D3 and I finally wrapped up the season journey stuff I wanted, which is getting that extra stash tab. Had a gilded baron finally appear so I got that conquest, and then I ran 3 or 4 grift 60s to get the 3 legendary gems to level 55 and that put me over.

Just fyi, you can’t stack legendary powers, so two Justice Lanterns is a waste (unless the affixes on the second otherwise makes it a damn good ring anyway), as is wearing a Spiker shield and having one in a cube slot. Change Spiker and Haunt of Vaxo out of the cube! ;)

I joined the Thorns Crusader club and it certainly is pretty fun. Still need some pieces but I’m able to do GR 35 or so pretty easily. I have a WD who is using the Legacy of Nightmares rings to do a Burning Locusts infest type build which is similar to the Crusader build in that you run around and everything dies. But he’s way squishier than the Crusader.

The question I have for you, though, is how you get perma-steed? Is it simply through more and more cooldown reduction? Is there some special gear or ability you’re using? I just found out about the Norvald’s set, is that how you do it?

A combination of CDR, the Lord Commander passive, and either Norvald’s set or Fervor passive plus the Swiftmount flail which doubles Steed Charge’s uptime. When your thorns damage is high enough you can combine Spiked Barding with Norvald’s and dash through rifts, killing everything in one or two damage ticks as you gallop by.

I had two HC deaths over the past couple of days. Both very different.

First two days ago I was trying to do the Super Human conquest (use no set items to clear GR45) on my thorns crusader. I was using a bombard and run style build, just stopping to kill elites and ponying my way quickly to the next pack (MHing Swiftmount). In an act 3 keep room level, I came upon a blue pack about 60% of the way through the GR45 rift (timer at about 40%) which was arcane. I hit my cooldowns immediately before the arcane lasers went down, but was reduced to about 20% health as they each also dropped to about 20%. I popped a potion and got a bit greedy, thinking I could finish them off. One or two survived my quick counter strike, but I dropped health quicker than I aniticpated, retreated again, and then was stunlocked for my last 20% by some white mobs about 30 yards away from the elites. I can’t really complain as I deserved that death. I was doing something risky and made a bad call.

Then yesterday I was doing some bounties with a friend on my HC DH (who had soloed up to GR55 and probably could have pushed GR60). After zoning into an act 4 zone, the action side of Diablo 3 locked up for about 30 secs (but I could still chat). As we weren’t on Skype, I couldn’t call my buddy back to help quickly enough, and when the game unfroze, my DH was dead. That death was much more frustrating for obvious reasons. While the character can quickly be replaced by powerleveling, I’ll miss my well rolled non-ancient focus/restraint rings (both CHC, CHD, cooldown, socket), level 55ish gems, ancient rucksack, and now it will take me a lot longer to qualify for the conqueror tier and stash tab.

For now I’m forgoing DH as I’d already mastered the set dungeons. I’m not sure if DH is best for pushing high level hardcore GRs in any case. My two friends are support barb and thorns crusader, so for now I’m just going with a second crusader so we can share STR gear.

Combination of cooldown reduction, and the weapon that doubles your steed duration. You end up with a 6 second steed, with CDR my uptime on it is for all intents and purposes full time. I use ā€˜Hack’ cube power when pushing GR, and the steed duration when I’m farming bounties or otherwise speed clearing.

From some previous conversations on here about using the cube for amulets and rings vs blood shards. I can get 200+ blood shards in about 3 minutes, (amulets are 100, rings are 50), I haven’t found any way I can even get close to 50 deaths breaths in anywhere near that time frame. It takes me maybe…10 minutes at best to farm 50 of those, and that’s optimistic. You can basically roll for 2 ammys, or 4 rings, every GR about about level 35ish as you usually get 200+ bloodshards a run at that point. I found it went much faster when I just started using Kadala to get my rings and ammys that I needed. Even though they are a worse value than the other choices you can gamble for, they are light years faster than trying to farm deaths breaths, unless I’m missing something.

Well but death breath upgrades are always legendary or set items. Kadala only gives legendaries or set items every 1/10 gambles.

Well, I’ve had a very productive day, getting pretty much all the gear items except for the belt for my Crusader. At some point, my golem will update to show everything. Hereit is. I’m breezing through T9 and gonna try TX tomorrow.

I’m having some issues with trying to enchant an item (trying for socket on my pig sticker) and it is just stuck on damage after about 20 tries, it just won’t change. I often get 2 of the same attributes and no sockets. Not sure if this is a bug or something, but it’s really frustrating.

I also have a few amulets & rings where if I try to extract legendary it says ā€œextract failedā€ … I tried again today and one of the amulets worked (fortunately the one I’ve been searching for forever - where arcane heals you instead of damaging). Not sure if bug or what, just glad one worked today (but two others don’t).

Not sure about the amulet & ring extraction question, but damage ranges on weapons are difficult to roll out of. Not sure what the design rationale is but it’s not a bug. I can generally go through 10-15 rerolls before I see a single non-damage range candidate.

Many people here seem to be rolling with Thorns Crusaders so far. Has anyone changed out of Invoker and into the Legacy of Nightmares ring set (bonus 100% damage and -4% damage resistance per ancient) plus ancients that many Crusaders topping the leaderboard seem to be running with?

Not yet, still waiting on a couple of legendaries to allow it.

Wow, tried the thorns set dungeon. What a cluster fuck. You don’t have to kill 75 enemies, you need to kill ALL the enemies and apparently I missed one (had 1 to kill as time ran out & I had searched all over). Next 2 tries, fumbled on elites - No idea how, both times I had consecrate & iron skin enabled & was within the consecrate circle. Next time I damage an elite, and somehow it runs away and dies without me doing anything to it. Final restart, fumbled on elite pack again.

Are they all this gamey and so fucking precise on what you have to do? Is it really worth it to do these, because I’m seriously contemplating giving them the middle finger.

The set dungeons are pretty widely regarded as horrible. There have been multiple many page threads about how awful they are, and how much people hate them. I haven’t even tried one yet as I’m having too much fun plowing through things on various torment levels with various classes.

1st time I tried this dungeon I couldn’t make it pass the first group of mobs without getting killed. Came back later and was a little easier and got about half way through. Left it for a long time and my 3rd trip it was a cakewalk and had to let the spear throwers hit me because I was killing too fast.

My recommendation is go do other things fighting with the skills needed (Iron Skin and Consecration) and come back in 50 paragon levels and you will walk through it.

Yeah, Thorns dungeon is dumb until you outgear the shit out of it, and then it’s dumb in a different way.
