Yeah the last patch totally changed progression. Last season I started Friday at midnight, played a ton till Sunday evening: Grift 62 & paragon ~450 on hardcore. Within a couple of hours of hitting 70 I had already bested my previous solo grift record (45). By Sunday evening I’d gained as many paragon levels as I had since paragon was introduced (whenever that was).

All that may be a side effect of my having played crusader + how easy it is to gear for thorns + matching with the sort of high intensity players I’d never previously played with (on account of starting at midnight and playing hard). The key is to get into Grift 50+ pronto and spend bloodshards as efficiently as possible. Playing with others who are the same class also makes a huge difference as you can trade loot.

That Sunday evening I deleted my sader (I don’t need the addiction). All in all a really fun weekend of gaming.

Edit: The only thing that didn’t seem the least bit quicker was leveling to 70. However I surprised myself by actually enjoying the race to 70 with three others.

New patch out today. The power inflation in this game is ridiculous. Many legendary gems and item affixes were changed to be multiplicative today, which was worth… quiiiiiite a bit of damage. As in, I’m now one-shotting bosses on T10.

Hahahaha. Sounds like they’re in full-on “fuck it, expansion/sequel coming!” mode.

Those WoW patches were always great fun.

We discussed a bit earlier that Blizzard is adding so many huge banner features to Diablo3 that another expansion seems unlikely-- as stuff like Kanai’s Cube would be major expansion features in of themselves. Changing all those gems and whatnot to multiplicative was a good change, as many of the additive affixes were essentially garbage before. The end result is that they really need to add 5 more torment difficulty levels because T10 mobs just melt when I attack with my full meta-equipped (6p set plus all ancillary support legendaries) demon hunter-- and I don’t bother to get ancients or optimal rolls either.

Oooooooooook?

Time to patch!

I love it when things I’m a fan of collaborate.

I have too many damn games to play. I have hundreds or thousands or millions of hours in this game, so I should at least try to focus on new things… but I love D3 power creep.

More like power leap amirite.

I stand corrected. I totally undersold it.

Speaking of diablo’s crazy power creep, I found this video amusing.

Meh, too slow.

:D

Jay Wilson (the designer that gave us the infamous D3 Auction House) is leaving Blizzard.

He says he’s going back to writing full time.

The urge to respond with “fuck that loser” is strong, as it’s so appropriate following an announcement like this, but actually I don’t have anything against him. That response to criticism seems natural, he was just stupid to say it publicly. Also the D3 auction house was a terrible decision, but I can follow how they got there.

I’ll be honest, I thought they canned him when he was taken off of Diablo III.

He can write Tales of eBay novelizations.

Nah, he got shuffled to Warlords of Draenor and (at the time) Project Titan.

On Warlords he was credited under “Additional Designers”

2.4.2:

I guess I should’ve paid more attention. The season is over and I didn’t complete the thing to get a new tab for the stash. :(

Season 7 starts today. Anyone planning on jumping in? I’m thinking of either going with a monk or crusader.
